Actual Head seen in debris around rover. NOT a Skull!!

To me it looks like a persons head and partial neck emerging from the sand. It is hard to see at first but if you're patient you will see it. the head is facing to the right.

Scientists do think that Mars was alive once upon a time.... it does fit the missing link idea! (see top of page 3 for reference)

So now we need someone to tell us how big it is - what if its an awesome ancient statue !!! ♥

That was kind of where I was going with wanting to see the "head" in comparison to the Rover itself. It may be a far-fetched idea, but at the same time, who's to say it isn't?

I wouldn't even know where to start to figure out the rover size, the distance from the object, then the mathematical formula to figure it out

I think I'll wander off in the direction of food and hope someone else comes up with it while I'm gone

There's actually no mathematical formula to figure that out from the image and rover dimensions alone. All we can do, really, is compare it to the rover's track at a similar distance. In fact, the full height of the "head" is comparable to the width of the rover's tracks (at the far right of the image), which makes the "head" maybe 5-8 inches high. The face, itself, then, is maybe 3-5 inches.
It's really quite small.

But.... how did you get 8 inches? I don't see a track anywhere near it

Meanwhile, mars sounds like perfect mummifying conditions to me (yeah I know, shhhh I'm having fun)

and Neanderthal was only 5'5" (average height) - 8 inches could be the right size head and there were smaller humanoid species weren't there? And I don't mind admitting I measured my face just over 6 inches from chin to the top of my forehead - could there be any room to work with in your calculation?

I probably should just get some sleep ♥

On the main panorama shot, there are tracks to the far right...they go down into a low-lying area, but we can judge when the tracks are equidistant from the rover (straight lines are handy sometimes). At the distance of the head, the width of the tracks are about the same as the full height of the head. And the rover's wheels are just a few (like, 6 or so) inches wide.

If indeed it is a head, weather it be stone or flesh, then we can assume life exists or existed on Mars without question. If life existed or stil exists on Mars then we are obligated to go and see what/is happened/happening. I would like to throw my name in the hat for first round draft picks for Mars Missions since I like found this particular head. Just sayin......

But, but, but....I dont WANT it to be just a rock. After all the time i put into searching fotos for tracks, trails, repeating rock shapes, or any anomoly..it just has to a head. I'm naming it Theodious Tenacious. NOT a rock....its my friend, TT.

well I can see the 'head' but logic tells me that if it was a carving or something then it would of eroded away to nothing by now, unless the OPs suggesting that there is a hominid on Mars poking its head out of the sand??

I magnified up and sure looks like he got caught chillin in a hot tub to me.
