Ron Paul Sounds Alarm on “Disturbing” Super Congress

I don't think what was done is constitutional. It marginalizes the rest of the members of congress. The people voted to send representatives and they do not get to take part of the debate, or formation of any of the bills? What a terrible blow in democracy we are witnessing. Which part of the they're going to pay attention, now?

Congressman Ron Paul warns that the all-powerful new “Super Congress” created by the vote on the debt ceiling will be used to fast-track tax increases while concentrating more power over the nation’s purse strings in the hands of the Washington elite.

During an appearance on Fox News, Andrew Napolitano warned that the “Super Congress” was an assault on the authority the Constitution gives elected representatives.

In a st atement made yesterday in response to the passage of the Budget Control Act, Congressman Ron Paul expressed his alarm at the establishment of this “disturbing” new committee, and warned that it would be used to ram through tax increases.

“The legislation produced by this commission will be fast-tracked, and Members will not have the opportunity to offer amendments,” said Paul. “Approval of the recommendations of the “Super Congress” is tied to yet another debt ceiling increase. This guarantees that Members will face tremendous pressure to vote for whatever comes out of this commission– even if it includes tax increases. This provision is an excellent way to keep spending decisions out of the reach of members who are not on board with the leadership’s agenda.”

The Congressman added that the committee represents “Nothing more than a way to disenfranchise the majority of Congress by denying them the chance for meaningful participation in the crucial areas of entitlement and tax reform. It cedes power to draft legislation to a special commission, hand-picked by the House and Senate leadership.”

Ron Paul is correct. What this means to me is exactly what Alex Jones said it means. We have lost any real form of representative government. There are 50 states in the Union, but be aware your state have a congressmen or senator on the Council of the "Tyrannical Thirteen" because if not, your state will not count.

All we need is just one more fix......just one more fix, ok?

The Enabling Act (German: Ermächtigungsgesetz) was passed by Germany's Reichstag and signed by President Paul von Hindenburg on 23 March 1933. It was the second major step, after the Reichstag Fire Decree, through which Chancellor Adolf Hitler legally obtained plenary powers and established his dictatorship. It received its name from its legal status as an enabling act granting the Cabinet the authority to enact laws without the participation of the Reichstag. The act stated that it was to last for four years unless renewed by the Reichstag, which occurred twice. This whole debt ceiling business could all very well have been contrived to divert attention from the usurpation of power from congress by the new Council of 13. Certainly a terrifying development, and at the very least is high treason. Anybody who voted for this should be arrested immediately and sent to a secret military prison in Somalia.

If this goes through it will be a declaration of total war on individual freedom in the USA and possibly the whole of North America too.....
I see too many strands comming together in the rope they are weaving to hang us with....

You do realize that this "Super Congress" is only sending recommendations to the full Congress which they still have to vote on. If Congress doesn't like it they will vote it down and send this committee back to the table to come up with something different.

You all are letting paranoia overtake sensibility. Congress is always forming special committee's to put reports together for them and this is not really any different.

It gives more power to selected Senators on the committee than are held by other Senators. That is most definately not ok.

This type of move is only necessary in some very bad specific cases. We have seen it happen in history.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2.. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6.. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, Ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
