Let's just call Obama what he truly is. A collectivist.

Plain and simple. Collectivism maintains that the individual is not an end to himself, but is simply a tool to serve the ends of the group. Sounds familiar eh?? Shhh don't tell anyone.

"In America," Obama says, "we have this strong bias toward individual action. You know, we idolize the John Wayne hero who comes in to correct things with both guns blazing. But individual actions, individual dreams, are not sufficient. We must unite in collective action, build collective institutions and organizations." --Barack Obama 1995

“A nation that values fairness. . .everyone pays. . .shared sacrifice. . .those who benefit most can afford to pay more. . .spending a billion dollars on tax cuts. . .spending reductions in the tax code. . .unpaid for tax cuts to billionaires and millionaires. . .the most fortunate among us" --Barack Obama April 2011 debt crisis speech

you sited an article from the Washington Times. who owns the Washington Times? why, oh my, it's News World Corporation AKA Rupert Murdoch and his minions of darkness. ....... aren't these the same people who own Fox news ~ the horn blowers for the extreme right, in other words those who stand in direct opposition to our President? coincidence? I think not.

Is it wrong to cite an article from a paper that leans to the right when the majority of the papers are heavily biased to the left? Its no secret so it really isn't worth crying over.

The reshaping of America at the hands of Obama and his czars should be stopped. Time to get back to our foundation and fundamentals that made our nation great at one time. Putin was right, the US has turned into a parasite on the global economy and It was Obama's job to speed up the process.

I would like to point out that I am not an Obama supporter by any means, but I think your post is absolutely ridiculous.

I dare you to show me a person who is individualist. Aside from a few exceptions, we are most certainly, and always have been, collectivist.

Belonged to any clubs? After school programs in your youth? Collectivism. Ever played sports? Collectivism. Attend religious services? Collectivism. Have a job? Collectivism. Participate in modern society in any form? Collectivism. If we were individualist, the interworkings of society, and civilization, would collapse. Trade, be it free trade or planned, is collectivist in nature. Fortune 500s are collectivist, neighborhood watch committees are collectivist. The Tea Party is collectivist.

You know why? Because self-interest is our incentive. But self-interest can only go so far in the world, and thus, cooperation with other individuals with common goals is crucial to achieve what matters to you.

If you work together with someone on anything, you're a collectivist. 'Nough said.

I understand what you're saying however I am speaking in a purely political/economic realm not the fundamental definition as you detail. Obama is very tough to pigeon hole in that regard because he often says one thing and does the opposite or he knows what to say to either get the vote or to accomplish the task at hand. The ends justify the means approach for lack of a better description. He is willing to upset his die hard political base to advance an objective today and then will pander back to them tomorrow or the next time he needs their support.

Collectivists believe that neither you or I can exist or function without the hand of Big Government. I am an individualist when it comes to politics. I work for my family and myself. I am the product of my own will and personal drive to achieve and to succeed solely for my family and myself not for my neighbor or the government.

I choose to open my collectivist wings on Sunday in church as I thank God for who I am and who I have close to me. I ask for His strength to pass through me. I don't ask for strength from my government or it's President.

Defining it all is just as complicated as Obama appears to be. Hence his well earned label of collectivist.

I think we are seeing the foundation being laid for an opposing candidate to force a primary with Obama or to establish a third party that will throw off the Democrat in Chief. Just like Perot did in his day back 1992.

Mayor Ed Koch wrote an interesting article that illuminates Obama's disappointments and concludes with a suggestion of a new moderate third party which could certainly pull the voters who threw Obama a bone back in 2008. (I'm too conservative to support that :lol

If you're too conservative to support that, where will your vote go? For the same old criminals? There are only two parties THEM and US.

The foundation is cracking

I hope and pray that is the case.

The centrists of this country — liberals with sanity like myself and so-called compassionate conservatives — together constitute a huge majority of voters. If we join together, if only for this upcoming presidential election, we could make a difference.

We could elect a president concerned about us and we could throw out a majority of the incumbents in Congress and elect people who will truly represent and promote our interests. Let’s at least try.

Yes, their term 'collectivism' is just a play on words. They coined it and use it because it is more palatable and dupes people into thinking it's something other than what it is.
