US is a 'parasite' on world economy: Putin

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of acting as a "parasite" on the world economy by accumulating massive debts that threaten the global financial system.

"The country is living in debt. It is not living within its means, shifting the weight of responsibility on other countries and in a way acting as a parasite," Putin told a group of pro-Kremlin youth in central Russia on Monday.

US President Barack Obama on Sunday announced an 11th hour debt deal that will allow the country to avoid its first default in history while pushing ahead with a painful austerity plan designed to slash Washington's swelling debt.

The deal was met initially with relief on global financial markets and saw Moscow's two stock exchanges open the day up about two per cent but investors then began to have doubts about the plan and gains were reversed sharply.

Putin is absolutely right in his address of the parasitical nature of the U.S. economy, but there are some things the Russian prime minister fails to address:

1. The state of the Russian economy
   
2. The fact that the spendthrifting and debt default plans are all by design - to bankrupt the United States
   
3. The debt default 'plan' will not actually cut spending, but further accelerate it, to the detriment of the dying U.S. economy

Putin know this all too well. Part of the deal is for Russia to get Big 3 car factories.

just wait until the mountains of CDS and other derivitives need to be paid... there's more paper out there than something like Five Times the total wealth output of the whole world combines (some $600Trillion in casino paper which will need to be paid to someone/ sometime)

parasite is not the correct term...the USA type of capitalism is more a death vehicle to any passengers that pay to get onboard

As for Putin calling the US a parasite - indicates that the outbreakof hostiliies for WWIII is getting nearer.

at some point in time every country is a parasite to the world economy Putin is just playing his role in the game just like Russia as always done.
