Extremely disappointing!

Every time I come up on such promising things as an immediate collapse of the US economy or immediate tyranny in the US, I check it out very eagerly and come out disappointed after reading it. This is no exception.

Every bill drafted by this "Super Congress" must necessarily be voted on and passed as per the existing rules, there is no change there. If the members haven't had a chance to read it before it has been put to vote, they can vote 'No' by default let it be known that they haven't formed an opinion and let it be reintroduced after they have had enough time review the draft. Some "Super Congress"

Yes, i know.
We just need to make a few fundamental changes.
I can see it very clearly.

I think Paul Ryan is the best man to make it happen in November 2012.

What I see in this is a huge advantage for lobbyists.

Now they only need to target 12 members of Congress to get there special interests protected during these spending cuts or to keep any tax hikes from coming their way.

Really they only need 7 of these members of "Super Congress" to get what they want. That will make things alot easier for lobbyists to get things done that benefit a small portion of the United States population.

Even though it still has to pass through traditional channels, having the "super Congress" in your pockets pretty much insures that you never have to worry about anything going against what you want. Yes, Congress or the Senate might send it back to the "Supers", however; the special interests will be comfortable knowing it will always work out their way...and a lot cheaper than having to work with an entire House of Representatives.

Where have I read, a long time ago in some conspiracy theory, that the Antichrist-figure would be presiding over an elite committee of 12 leaders, and rule the world this way...

Anyone remember who said that? Was it Bill Cooper?

Never heard that one...though the Book of Revelation makes mention of 10 kings.

And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no power as yet but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast." (Rev. 17:12-13)

UnConstitutional.

The US Supreme Court will invalidate the Debt Bill, unconstitutional. Especially when the "group" decides to quit paying Federal Judges/US Attorneys.....you'll see the SCOTUS step in real quick like.

FEMA take over or an Appointed Federal Receiver under control of SCOTUS....wipe away the debt/liabilities....new Congress takes over....after all the Senators and Congressmen are FIRED by the US Supreme Court.

We got 3 Branches in our Federal Govt. for a REASON.

This bill is not much of a trojan horse since -everybody- has their eagle eyes on it.
-------
This bill can be repealed just like any other bill.
I'll take this band-aid.
-------
Somebody needs to find a way to reduce the unemployment rate to 5%.
Do we need a room full of PHDs to figure this one out???

How do we get there from here?

Have you guys not even read the info on the "agreement"?

12 people will be deciding how to cut 1.6 tril over 10 years. No other input needed from the rest of congress.

First of all where are you getting the idea that there will be no other input? Second of all Congress can delegate their authority to whomever they want per the Constitution. Thirdly this is just part of the Congressional body that is tasked to come up with something solid, which will be debated on.

How do you think certain bills arrive in Congress. They are written by small groups and rarely if ever as a group effort. Then it is looked over and debated and modified as necessary. This will be no different.

You honestly need to show me this in the constitution... It's the people who empower it's representatives and only they are able to dictate who represent them in the house or senate. Not the president, not the congress, not the senate.... THE PEOPLE!

Constitutions are not meant to specify the details how a bill is prepared, on what paper it is written or what ink is used, so you won't find them there.

A few hundred guys sitting in a room don't decide on what the content of a bill is going to be. That way they will never get to pass even one bill in a whole year. Some one/few take the responsibility of drafting a bill and they may even consult those who are not legislators in formulating it. Howsoever a bill is drafted, it doesn't become a law unless the legislators vote favourably on it. That is the power of the legislature to enact laws, not draft bills. The "super congress" is nothing more than a drafting committe for bills, more like a personal secretary of the congress and not some superior.

But if the members of the Congress are as educated as most of these commentators on this bill, then it may become "Super Congress", simply because the idiots don't know they can actually vote it down. Don't like any part of it, vote 'No' and if there are enough people dissatisfied with even a single aspect of the bill (although the aspect itself can be different for different guys), it gets defeated.
