www.whitehouse.gov...

President Obama today announced the next phase in the Administration’s program to increase fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas pollution for all new cars and trucks sold in the United States. These new standards will cover cars and light trucks for Model Years 2017-2025, requiring performance equivalent to 54.5 mpg in 2025 while reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 163 grams per mile.

I'm probably one of the biggest Obama-haters on Earth, but I think this is a good idea.

Give me one good reason it isn't.

It's funny how a few of you seem outraged by this. Are you people so anti-government that ANYTHING they do enrages you?

Alright i have to say just one thing...Well maybe more than just one thing lol. Has anybody thought about the fact that when we use less fuel that the price will rise per gallon to compensate for the losses of revenue the oil companies make? I understand of the laws of supply and demand but I don't see this actually helping us save money when there is no real checks and balance on the oil industry except OPEC. I can probably see the price of gasoline and fuel sharply rising after the amount of fuel consumed gets slashed to balance out the price index to sustainability of monetary status quo. I know it bass ackwards to how supply and demand works but the offset of the consumed fuel will have to be accounted for somewhere.
My reasoning is somewhat askewed I admit and everything is just pure speculation at this point. I am just trying to see some different outcomes of having cars get great gas mileage compared to the older models. I also see the price hike of vehicles coming plus with having an old vehicle getting 15 mpg vs. 45mpg.... It kinda reminds me of planned obsolescence. The reason I bring up planned obsolescence is because the older product will probably be scraped for a newer one bc it will probably have problems running on the newer leaner fuels that will surely have to use to generate the higher effeciency standards (ethanol engine problems in older motors...).
I can also see this really bolstering the economy by the production of these H.E (high effeciency) vehicles but then again if you don't have money to buy them how is it going to help... Unless there is a major tax incentive to buy one.
Like I said before this is pure speculation. I think it great to help the enviroment hands down but I think this has more to do with making revenue than ole momma nature.

Hey adyta, might i add that they can slow pumping instead of letting all the fuel grow stale in the refineries

Just one?

It imposes regulation on the US automotive industry, which can't keep up with foreign cars btw.

vehicles of that complexity will require more jobs and cost billions more to produce great you would think the reality of those jobs is they will be elsewhere in the world.

one simple truth nothing in this country is made from beginning to end here

Here is a little more to think about when it comes to this plan.
Who owns the Money?= Rothschild Bank and Family Investments.
Who owns the largest Oil companies in the world?= Rothschild Family Investments.
Who owns the major car companies throughout the world?= Rothschild Family Investments.
Who does this plan actually serve?= Rothschild Family Investments.

Not really anti-government. I live in an old 6 bedroom house with only an old oil furnace, cost 900$ a month during winter to keep oil in it. I have gone without heat for the past 7 years of course i notice anything they do increases the price. its more so the greedy oil moguls that will be raising the price but it seems like anything obama does oil related just makes things worse.

So let me get this straight. The Rothschilds goal is to force car companies to manufacture cars with at least 54 MPG, while also lowering demand for gasoline... thus hurting both their car and oil companies? That seems logical.

Also, I'd like to see a source for all this "Rothschild" crap.

So convert to electric, natural gas, or a wood furnace?

For crying out loud! Just back-engineer one of those crashed UFOs and manufacture me a nice hover craft to float no more than a few feet off the ground and to get around town! That technology has to be available, only if we are ready to accept that truth: we are not alone. (Oops! Wrong forum! Hehehe!)

Look at how fast cars MPG are rising, I'm sure by 2025 cars will be well OVER 55 MPG anyways, so what does it matter? That's assuming we are still even using gasoline 14 years from now.

But this is an outrage! It imposes regulations!!!

Unfortunately, for me to answer that for you right now, it would take hundreds of links.

Fortunately for you, I am on day seven of building a thread with all those links.

When it is finished, cleaned up and posted I will send you a U2U and link you with a reminder.

For now Start here....

1776: Adam Weishaupt officially completes his organisation of the Illuminati on May 1 of this year. The purpose of the Illuminati is to divide the goyim (all non-Jews) through political, economic, social, and religious means. The opposing sides were to be armed and incidents were to be provided in order for them to: fight amongst themselves; destroy national governments; destroy religious institutions; and eventually destroy each other.

Weishaupt soon infiltrates the Continental Order of Freemasons with this Illuminati doctrine and establishes lodges of the Grand Orient to be their secret headquarters. This was all under the orders and finance of Mayer Amschel Rothschild and the concept has spread and is followed within Masonic Lodges worldwide to the present day. Weishaupt also recruits 2,000 paid followers including the most intelligent men in the field of arts and letters, education, science, finance, and industry. They were instructed to follow the following methods in order to control people.

1) Use monetary and sex bribery to obtain control of men already in high places, in the various levels of all governments and other fields of endeavour. Once influential persons had fallen for the lies, deceits, and temptations of the Illuminati they were to be held in bondage by application of political and other forms of blackmail, threats of financial ruin, public exposure, and fiscal harm, even death to themselves and loved members of their families.

2) The faculties of colleges and universities were to cultivate students possessing exceptional mental ability belonging to well-bred families with international leanings, and recommend them for special training in internationalism, or rather the notion that only a one-world government can put an end to recurring wars and strife. Such training was to be provided by granting scholarships to those selected by the Illuminati.

3) All influential people trapped into coming under the control of the Illuminati, plus the students who had been specially educated and trained, were to be used as agents and placed behind the scenes of all governments as experts and specialists. This was so they would advise the top executives to adopt policies which would in the long-run serve the secret plans of the Illuminati one-world conspiracy and bring about the destruction of the governments and religions they were elected or appointed to serve.

4) To obtain absolute-control of the press, at that time the only mass-communications media which distributed information to the public, so that all news and information could be slanted in order to make the masses believe that a one-world government is the only solution to our many and varied problems.

IM somewhat of an atuo mechanic person. NO car will achive 54.5 MPG running on gasoline. those MPG figures yuor all duped into beliving, is when the car was teste in constant motion on rollers, automakers use to test the mileage of thier product, tha car. IN reality, most of us go through stop and go traffic, thats what KILLS your mileage, via gas consumption. an engine was designed otbe in constant use, so to speak. sitting in traffic, expecially on a hot humid summer day, KILLS your mileage..thats a fact. carbon builds up in yuor engine, aka gunk* and sheers yuor oil faster. a 10w 30 oil slightly thicker, will soon become a 5w 30, and not too far after that, a 20 weight oil. that is why in sto n go traffic, or sever duty, yuo change your oil every 3 months, also due to fuel dilution in the oil.
so obamas near 55 MPG is still flawed, providing he is basing his hypothesis, on the current mode of an engine..spark plug and cyclinders.
