Hmm, why aren’t we cutting the deficit instead of the spending?
any new spending from now, will this also be subject to being cut? or does this spending work on a snapshot?

Why haven’t we raised taxes on the rich and the mega corporations?.. why? surely thats the most logical and ethical approach? this unique breed of people enjoyed lucrative cuts under the Bush republicans..

The amount of money they take in added up, and taxed would be a good sized dent on the current deficit. Imagine that in yearly takings spread out over 15years... a good and proper reduction in the debt.

But I agree, spending also needs to be cut.. welfare chekx could be wages for building roads and fixing bridges, volunteering at hospitals, studying etc etc..

Build the people back up with skills and drive.

What did most people want?, It seems from over the pond that no deal would have made anyone happy. There are no winners here. None of the options would have been satisfactory.

It's amazing that every other nation in the world tackles their debt by a combination of cuts and taxation, you cant cut a deficit by cuts alone. I'm well aware that you could tax everyone and cut everything and you still would be unable to clear the deficit, but by cutting alone it is an ideological battle that the Republicans have won.
