Of course, this is from my tin-foil hat wearing ATS angle, but...

My intuition is that hyper-inflation of the U.S. dollar is step one to the introduction of a new North-American currency which, many members of the "establishment" hope will lead to a one-world currency.

Hopefully people are starting to see what a failure the Euro has turned out to be, and how losing control of a nation's interest and lending rates to a para-national financial institution is akin to a bloodless coup.

I can't wait for the military coup to happen. Then the jack offs in Washington who are deliberately trying to destroy America will in for a shocker.

I'm sure that would go over as epically as a turd in a punch bowl.

Many in the military are pretty conservative - and we have quite a few who ideologically align with anarchism (though most understand some amount of government is necessary because human beings tend to form their own governments - even if it is gang/war-lords with localized power).

We are also not the most efficient group out there - or the most connected with reality - particularly young people who have served in the military as a career and never had to hold a civilian job. We're used to "hurry up and wait" and "lost paperwork." It's part of being a government employee.

I don't think we're the ones who should be calling the shots. It's too easy. Don't like what the military says? Oops... several maintenance and protocol failures lead to a bomb accidentally falling off of the aircraft to land on your city hall. A lot of us in the military have little tolerance for flamboyant displays of people's rights that are generally considered a nuisance. You can bet there would be all kinds of various protests if the military were to usurp the government, and enough people in the military that would consider blowing said protests up a reasonable response to groups of people considered rather useless and annoying.

Not all. Not most. But enough that you would see problems in that respect.

It also sets the stage for a militant oligarchy where issues can be dispelled through the use of force and out of expedience. Is mowing down a group of people with cluster munitions the way to solve civil unrest? No - but it certainly disperses the crowds and is a hell of a lot more expedient.

And that's no way to do things. The military should always be the hammer-arm of the people. However, the problem right now is the conflict between the people. Some want socialism and a nanny state. Others want to go back to a more principled use of the constitution. The military won't be able to resolve that difference of opinion..... in theory, it could vaporize those of the obstinate view point... but... that tends to not work so well.

That's the agenda. Nothing else. They divide the people and we fight against each other like puppets. Look at this manufactured crisis. There was never a doubt that they would raise it, they had to, if they didn't, they wouldn't get reelected. If they don't get reelected, then they're out of power and that's what they don't want. Seriously, was anyone on this board truly afraid that they wouldn't raise the debt ceiling? Did anyone really believe that this nation would default?

Look at us...right vs. left, religion against science, rich vs. poor...all of it is manufactured by those who are in power for one reason...to stay in power. Power is a disease and none of us are immune to it.

Really? You're saying that soldiers look at taxpaying citizens (many being their family and friends) as a "nuisance" and "annoying", huh? And that our military is no better than the Syrian military in regards to how it would handle those excercising the rights the military is said to die for? Interesting, I think you're BS'ing though.

Well, the agenda is simply to not restore tax levels and collect that badly needed revenue. There are no tax increases in this deal.

400 of the richest U.S. citizens pay from 18% to 0% taxes and that is the way it is going to stay.

Lobbyists are going to continue to win their multi-national corporations our tax subsidies for nothing even though they are earning record profits. That free money is going to be spent outsourcing even more jobs.

All civilizations end when the wealthy hog all the wealth and starve the majority. Judging from the size of the U.S. middle class, which is now very small because 70,000 a year earned by mom and dad, isn't really middle class, I say the U.S. is in real trouble.

Start growing vegetables in your yards and start going to the firing range. Have a plan. Head to Canada with all your neighbors when the riots and pillaging start.

Nothing will happen, the government want to keep the population fat, stupid and lazy so they wont rise up.

The only time they would protest is if they fixed things, by raising taxes 300-500% up to the 30-50% range as in other countries. Then you would see protests as much of the population do not want to pay taxes yet seem to want all the services they provide.
