I actually agree with all of those benefits and reasons why we have clothing and need clothing.
What despises me is the fact that if a person CHOOSES to go naked, they could be brought up on charges. That is a case of the government meddling in issues it shouldnt be meddling in.
Give me freedom or pass the mashed potatoes I always say

To me it sounds like your saying that If a person chooses to be naked in public they are cheating their future partner of the mysteries that go along with their unique set of genitals.
So the naked, pre-marriage person should be arrested for it? Why cant we just co-exist? Maybe that way works better for them and your way works better for you. Do we need laws about this type of thing?

Hogwash, its called growing up and its the parents job to make sure its done right. Law should have nothing to do with it. Of course you protect your daughter andf instill the values in her as she grows up. But when she gets to the dating age, its time for dada to butt out. Better make sure you did a good job, right?

And anyway in most areas the law is geared to protect 15 under. Thats less than half of a teenagers years.

How the heck did this get to be about child porn again?

i am not saying a person should be arrested for cheating their future partner. that would be crazy talk. I am saying that clothing has many benefits, and one of those is the cultural, religious, and modesty beliefs of other people. You may feel like being nude, but since you cant know how that would affect everyone out there, how could you go ahead and do it, laws aside? Do you not care that not everyone shares your beliefs? If someone decided that we should exercise the right to freedom of speech by going in the streets shouting hate crimes, should they be allowed to do so? Or should the rights of others, and as well children, be protected by removing the abillity of the offending person to continue offending? I am not saying give jail time to nudies, just saying there are people in this world that want and need the protection the law gives them and their sensitivities. so if the law says dont be nude and you decide to go nude, then yes the law should act. after all, if the law cannot be upheld in such minor matters, how can we expect it to be upheld in the bigger ones? The ones that would affect more than your sense of right, but maybe your health or life?
It is the same with public drunkenness, public smoking - at least here where you are not allowed to smoke anywhere public. There are a good many people in the world with a sense of modesty, who wear clothes and lovve their clothes, who love how they feel in nice clothes, who love how other people look in nice clothes. Why try to rid the world of these people? why try to change the world at all? Pick something that needs changing, like the state of housing, the homeless situation, and fight that.

You say there are many different preferences and levels of modesty. So why discriminate against the ones who enjoy nudity when the ones who don't enjoy nudity can look away? Its not my fault someone is too immature to handle seeing a strangers genitals in public. First off they cn simply look away, secondly - its not the end of the world if you or a child sees someones genitals, lets get real here.

I also do this for my children so they dont have to view their penises as evil things that must be hidden for some akward outdated reason. Why cant he have the right to grow up and enjoy the wind hitting what God gave him as he runs in the grass - and do it in a non perverted way?

the laws are designed to protect the weakest or most sensitive or least defensable people. it always has and always shall be, and that is the best way to have it. Can you honestly tell me that you get offended by clothing?

and if you want your son to have the wind in his willy, put up a privcay fence around your back yard and let him go nuts. by trying to convince your son to be too different and less willing or able to conform to societal norms, you are only going to end up making his life harder or more difficult than it has to be. I am haardly what you would call a conformist, mind you. I am always the last one to admit to a pop fad or designer trend and probably the only one who thinks Brad Pitt and Mel gibson are very unnattractive. I am not touting total conformity, and love a bit of uniqueness - but to grow up feeling like you can't even conform to the basics of society, like clothing, well, that sounds like a difficult life to me. do your kids a favor. teach them to be unique with their fashion sense, teach them to be unique in their hairstyle or whatnot - dont make them feel like they are the only one in the world that cant fit in.

You keep missing the point. Sure, teach them to conform where necessary. Teach them the value of clothing. Still why does nudity have to be illegal for those that occasionally might want to let loose? You have never answered that, you keep resorting back to the benefits that clothing has to offer.

Laws against nudity are not protecting the feebler people in society. How in the world does nudity hurt people? It only hurts those with poisoned or immature minds (in the case of children, its the parents job to show them right from wrong, nit the laws)

I appreciate you advice but in no way am I teaching my boys about hairstyles
Maybe some cool threads or something but hairstyles are for girls unless your from a wealthy family of hairstylists and stand to inherit the business. One thing that will NOT be allowed in our house is HAIR GEL. Guys do not wear hair gel! Damn if there are nudity laws can we please have laws banning guys getting too dolled up, please. nd specifically a law agains guys using hair gel!

being offended or even discomfited by nudity does not equal childishness or immaturity. One example as i have said earlier is hygeine. Granted i cant prevent people from sneezing on stuff, but i like that they cant drip sticky grossness from their lower halves on anything. another example is religious beliefs. As a christian, to run nude is to deny the sin in the garden of eden. for a muslim, it is probably unthinkable - bad enough having to look at uncovered heads in public. You are still assuming that you are right. you say what is wrong with occassional nudeness. Is there such a thing? Who gets to decide how much nudeness is allowable, how much nudity will not offend too many people, how do we control who gets to go nude and for how long before we hit that magic number and call it a day. There is no such thing as occasional nudity. either people can do it whenever wherever, or we leave things well enough alone.

Youre really gonna say there should be a law about nudity because Christianity says its wrong? Are you kidding me?

You can only offer one reason why genitals should be banned from public view and its the fact that YOU are Christian. How bout nonchristians or non muslims? Care to included these people in your perfect world. What if they disagree? Burn them at the stake? Who am I typing with here, God?

You know who should get to say how much nudeness is allowed. The person who claims right to the genitals thats who. Again, you dont want to see look away. And if you catch a glimpse by mistake and have some sort of roblem with that you are childish sexually immature.

no - i am obviously not God. I am sure he has better thigns to do than discuss this with you. God knows full well why we wear clothes you know.

again - i am out of this ridiculous - i dont know, does it even qualify as a discussion anymore? sounds like you are cranky and may just need a nap, lol. Hey, you want to be nude, good luck with that. next time you get a yeast infection in your ass pimples from using a chair some poor suffering woman used just before you sat down, well, think of me will you?

You could be right its almost bedtime here.

Next time you see someone with a nasty sore on their face, make sure you run over to them and force them to cover themselves up. After all it could gush and its unsightly.

God is laughing at us wondering why we stick pieces of plastic in/cut off pieces of our genitals to make them larger or more "attractive" and then put so much effort into forcing people to cover these same things up. God is not ashamed of his creation

I have to agree that its hard for the two groups to meet in the middle as far as preference is concerned. Still, there is a war on sex. Some groups found it so important to ban nudity and fine a TV company because a woman's nipple falls out. Someone is attacking our thought banks and our freedoms to enjoy real life. What gets me so flustered is that they are getting worked over skin. Skin shouldn't have anything to do with loving sex I think wed all agree.

I think skin should have everything to do with loving sex. It is our largest and most complexly sensitive organ.

Were viewers offended merely by the unexpected appearance of a nipple? Or that the nipple appeared within the context of a sexually suggestive performance in a manner that seemed somewhat intentional? Had Ms Jackson been singing the national anthem in twin-set and pearls, and her nipple been exposed by some freak gust of wind, would outrage have ensued?

Now while running around in the nude, depending upon who and what you might encounter, you may begin to notice, at times, a certain vulnerability, even if it is just to the elements. You may then look around you at the other creatures, at their fur, feathers, scales and thick hides, retractable genitalia, and wonder at why you have been so badly designed, if, indeed, nudity is our natural state.

It's a bit of a chicken and an egg one really.

If skin has everything to do with sex where are the emotions?

Also, who cares why the nip slipped (other than the parents) enough to CALL AND COMPLAIN. Take care of your family and let others enjoy it if they so choose.

Again clothes are great protecting against the elements, but it gets hot out too ya know and feels great to be in the buff and it should be totally legal to do so in pubic.

That would, I presume, fall into the 'loving' part, of the loving sex that we were discussing.

I agree, and yet, it was a 'family' event, and therefore parents would have had a reasonable expectation that that entertainment would be suitable for family viewing, and not involve a woman having her clothes torn off in a way that could be interpreted as sexually degrading.

It isn't even, technically, legal these days to be nude within the privacy of your own property. A gentleman in the city I live in was taken to court for gross indecency because his neighbours objected to him enjoying his garden in the nude. His neighbours can only see into this gentleman's garden through one room in their house, and obviously felt compelled by the view from that window to be able to document his nude gardening activities, their frequency and any times when it seemed to them that he was paying any parts of his person more than passing attention. Bizarrely, in my opinion, the court ruled in their favour. I thought they should have been charged with peeping or stalking or something.

Another recent story of a nip slip at some music award and it brought to mind a great point about the war on sex.

The FCC NEEDS to be dismantled. Its a waste of taxpayer money and an assault on the common American's freedom.
