Fluoride has always been considered dangerous. It's toxic and a person can kill themselves by eating too much toothpaste. But used properly on your teeth, where you spit it out, the benefits outweigh the risks.

The killing of greys was featured on a fairly recent Ghost Adventures episode, and it's the same guy mentioned in the Op who used the sword on them. Interesting situation.
