The basic problem with the economy is outlined here by, none other than the economic czar of Ronald Reagan, Paul Craig Roberts:

Read where he says demand, that is consumer demand. Consumer demand is way down primarily because of the fact that wages haven’t moved up as the profits of corporations have, and as the wealth of the rich and super rich has been raised so high.

I don't need to read more of Roberts to tell me what I've already summarized for you. Remember me speaking about Nixon? In inflation adjusted dollars, wages haven't gone up since so to continue growth they devalued the dollar and increased debt availability (which increases debt). Outsourcing is not caused by policy, only aided. Outsourcing is a response by anyone who would run a proper business to the insane amount of legislation and cost of keeping jobs in the US.

When any type of plateau is created (economic, population, etc), the ever increasing excess flows down and away from it. We, in America, have created that very thing so obviously jobs and money run from the US like we are a poisoned well.

Debt is an attempt by the system to maintain consumer demand that has now fallen by the wayside because jobs have been outsourced because of the policies of both parties towards global corporations.

Government debt is so high because of the tax cuts for the rich, and the narrow tax base due to jobs moving overseas.

Tax cuts for the rich are just, but since it's trendy to hate the rich people don't care about equality or liberty. Government debt is a result, and effect, caused by overspending and overpromising. The real root, however, is an ignorant and apathetic populace. They don't even really care now.

They do not care and they don't know jack about how America was set up or how it is supposed to be run.

I think what you're trying to say is you wish this was tackled when Obama wasn't in office. If you were a student of history, specifically political history, you would see that Obama has in the past voted against raising the debt limit, along with many of the same people railing against it right now.

The simple fact is, spending is a BIG issue. Continuing on our current path will lead to fiscal destruction. We are likely past the point of no return already. I would rather tackle the runaway spending now, when it might be fixable, than a year or so down the road when it WONT be fixable.

I applaud the 22 Tea Party Republicans. I only wish there had been more that stood up for the common man that has to pay for their policies, which are just basically bribes to get themselves re-elected. Government NEEDS to be scaled back, people NEED to get their freedoms back, people DESERVE to keep their earnings instead of the government demanding the first 15-35% off the top.

Political maps are made for political purposes that have little to do with realities on the ground.

For the past few decades SoCal has been as red as they get. Our county government here has wasted years and millions of taxpayer money fighting the medical marijuana laws that were passed statewide, refusing to abide by the laws of the state because they, personally, disagree with them, and use our taxpayer dollars to fight implementing them.

We have some of the highest ratios of police to citizens, yet when the nude mistress of a Coronado millionaire Pharma exec is found hanging from his balcony with her hands and feet tied behind her back, coincidentally just days after his child falls down the stairs and goes into a coma, her death is being investigated as a suicide. The mayor of San Diego, an ex-cop reform Republican, skated on bribery and malfeasance charges when he let a buddy ignore FAA rules and overbuild in the path of a runway by 2 or 3 stories, blamed underlings, confusing regs, "not my area of expertise", etc.

In Orange County the cops have been known to brag that "federal law don't apply here".

Most folks around me own guns, aren't afraid to use them, and are as conservative as they come.

California just looks leftish to those who think Attila, Genghis, and Pol Pot were too soft.

So despite the amount of Liberal/Dem Politicians that are in Office, the overall sentiment portrayed by just about 90% of every CA resident, the way of life shown in almost every city there, the most absurd gun laws, some of the highest taxes, hostile business environment. You suggest that Kommifornia is a Red state?

Also, you confuse Conservatism with Totalitarianism.
Your police state, as you suggest is the goal of the leftist Liberal.

I mean these kind of threads result to bashing each others views and are ridiculous.Bottom line is the spending and eocnomy crisis is real and both sides are divided on how to fix it.But common sense says if it is realy as bad as they are making it out to be then the world is headed for a possible depression.Hopefully no madman like Hitler rises out of this, but realy there is no way to stop it if it does.

in fact the Tea Parties have used only democratic and legal due process available through our Constitution. We are Constitutionalists all the way. It's mostly liberals and Socialists who absolutely hate the Constitution and want to get rid of it. Some Republicans also want to do away with the Constitution. Whoever hates the Constitution is not a true Classical Liberal in the Founding Fathers sense of things. Tea Party is for the Constitution and the way our Founding Fathers set things up.
Even the name Tea Party comes from the original Boston Tea Party who dumped the Tea into the bay as a protest against excessive taxation by the British King. Today, our taxes far outdo any taxes the King dreamed of.

Spending might be a big issue.

But lack of jobs is a HUGE issue that dwarfs spending.

All I hear from Tea-Partiers is how when times are bad a family cuts expenses, tightens their belt, and shrinks their lifestyle.

Funny, most families I know of went looking for work instead, and got another job to to make ends meet..

But, what's that you say?

The Tea-Partiers want Americans to work for Somali wages otherwise they can't compete and are taking money from their employers' dogs' mouths.

That would work out just fine if landlords accepted Somali rent scales, and employers were paid Somali salaries.

But we aren't in Somalia, we're in America, and in America, if you want to do business here, take advantage of our infrastructure, stability, and resources, then pay freaking American wages that are sufficent to pay American costs and allow sufficient capital accumulation for new businesses to form at the bottom.

With enough people working at decent wages, none of this would be an issue, much less a problem.

The capitalist segment of this country has utterly failed it.

The problem is that the rest of the world hears the opinions of DailyKos and Huffington Post and the MSM when it comes to what the Tea Party is about. They have heard Nancy Pelosi and Janet Napolitano deride Tea Party in the worst way. And why have they done that? It's simple, Tea Party is the true representative of Constitutional Liberty and American values and therefore the biggest threat to the spread of Socialism.

But... but... don't you GET it?

If you do not bow down before the Obamessiah you are obstructionist and anti-democracy? Only by suborning your beliefs and free will to Him in all His Glory shall you ever be "reasonable" and "bi-partisan" and "enlightened. The path to the country's salvation is through Him and His Will.

Sheesh I think you guys should know this by now.

Tomorrow the Riverside County Board of Supervisors will discuss a proposal to hold a summit to consider a plan for the possible secession of 13 counties from the state of California. Yep, it's the slow news days of July and things are getting serious with Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone's idea to turn Fresno, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Tulare into the great conservative state of South California

New Republican State South California Would Still Have Prop 13

Glad you used that analogy.

One, the family budget metaphor works.
When applied to Govt, it works except the idea of bringing in more money, as for the Govt to do that, people have to be taxed.
The Govt can't just go out and work harder, sell more widgets or get a second job.

They were voted in by a majority of the voting populace and they never abused the system like the Republicans are doing now. That’s the point of my OP.

They NEVER threatened to destabilize the economic system if they didn’t get their way.

------------------------
Destabilize the economic system? This whole Aug 2nd default/debt ceiling scenario is a big "scam". It's a fictitious date so Congress can get out of DC and go on their TAYPAYER-FUNDED junkets. There are no cuts--it's a lie. The proposed cuts are cuts to INCREASES. It solves nothing! Congress wants to keep raising the debt ceiling so they can keep spending MORE AND MORE of TAXPAYERS money. Maybe the taxpayers would like to spend their hard-earned money themselves!
If one has too much debt, how is increasing the debt going to solve the problem? If I have too much debt at my home, should I take out another credit card, max it out, and increase my debt? Would that help me? Nooooo! Why would it be any different for Congress/government?
Ron Paul says freeze it at last year's numbers and/or do away with the $1.6T we owe the Federal Reserve. That money was created out of thin air, and is a fictitious debt! That would help. Connie Mack has a "Penny Plan"--that would help.
