The hypocrisy of conservatives never ceases to amaze me. The same ones that kicked up such a fuss about Grandma and the death panels are the same ones calling to an end to Medicare and Medicaid. Quite happy to see grandma lose all her access to medical treatment as long as it fits with their ideology.

Well, by that logic, then the Iraq war created TONS of American reconstruction jobs.

Go Capitalism!

Dense? How is your reading comprehension? What I said about that was

Apple is going to create jobs because they are having a building built? Sounds to me like they are going to give some contractors A JOB.

You are making the wrong argument but then again it appears you did not read or understand my post. Perhaps someone is indeed a tad dense?

I asked how the economy was doing. Your best argument is that Apple is building ONE BUILDING in a place with employed contractors ready to tackle that ONE JOB.

So that neither answers anything about providing jobs or more importantly, the actual question I did ask.

For the third time: How is the US economy doing?
If you respond a 3rd time that Apple is building one building with its Chinese slave labor profits then I cannot even begin to understand what you are saying.

This is what happened.
ME: How is the US economy doing?
YOU: APPLE is building a building!

BTW, I respect your views. I respect anyone trying to get involved in the system and trying to look behind the curtains...I just see the exact opposite you see in this area.
I can shake you and tell you to open your eyes, and you can do the same to me, but ultimately, I think we have our own personal blinders on in how we see things.

But, one thing I do enjoy bringing up...what vision do you have? Where do you see your perfect plan going for the furthering of civilization? What is your world like in 200 or 500 years?

I started a thread long ago Thread here..it was a exercise in creative progressive thinking...I basically said you are absolute emperor of the world, you get to enact any policy, law, etc you want...what type of government do you install worldwide, and where do you see it [strikeout]2000[/strikeout] 250 years after established?

It was interesting to see how people answered...the neo-conservatives of course implemented their ideals, then gave a bleak outcome...long story short, I think that hyper conservative ideas lack foresight and vision for the long term...its more of a 1-200 year plan for maximum greed running until the system is corrupt.
And I agree, capitalism is fantastic, but sadly as it progresses, it leads to corporatism and finally dictatorial style facism with just a popup government...
And this system is over 200 years old, and yep, capitalism is almost dead in the west in favor of corporatism and a enslavement of government to corporations.

Its time for new thinking, its time to think like emperors of the world and decide that way what is overall best verses just some dying person trying to make a comfortable crypt and getting as much possible out of the short time here by any means necessary.

Oh! I'm glad you brought that up.
IF you bring all the troops home and downsize the U.S. military.......where are THEY going to
find jobs???
The unemployment rate would jump to over 11%.
---------
Someone needs to find a way to let free market capitalism grow the U.S. economy by 5%.
This 1.3% growth rate is pathetic.

They fly down to Texas all the time for surgery.

So, to re-cap--you think we should continue to spend trillions on illegal foreign wars because its good for the economy

Actually, more people = more mouths to feed = more restaurants opened, more farming, more etc etc etc....this is one of the areas where the free market does rule.

One issue is that these folks are getting money and spending it overseas...so we are literally taking lots of paychecks and tossing them overseas, along with tons of money spending on bombs and stuff.

Bringing them home will indeed stimulate the economy to a point..

I am a Canadian. I am also an American. I have experienced both systems and therfore speak from experience. Health care in the states is GREAT IF you can afford it. IF you cant, yous screwed. In canada, no one is turned away.

As for your claims that canadians 'need' to fly to the states for care, thats absurd. Canadians, AT TIMES, will travel to the states for a specialist, because that's where many are. That pay is better! That in now way substantiate your absurd claims. You should leave your house once in a while.

No.

I don't cast my vote based upon "sides". I put more thought into it than that. I've not voted for either of the "major" parties in years, because they have abandoned us and the country.

You are going to continue to enjoy the benefits of this country without fleeing and you will be voting, no?

Yes, I will be voting. No, I won't be "fleeing". What for? Do you imagine the grass being greener across some other fence? The only "benefits" I've enjoyed are the ones I've been able to carve out for myself, and that has been the same wherever I've gone. My family has been here since before the white people were. Why do you imagine I would abandon my home and that of my ancestors since time imemmorable?

I cannot wait to read all about the actual Marxism in practice done by both sides that earns both disdain and at least one vote from you. Would you mind actually explaining where this Marxism is?

Why "read"? Simple, straightforward observation should suffice, for those with eyes.

Communism was as successful as free market economics currently is, as free market economics is essentially communism, when put into practice.

The U.S. does not have, nor will it ever have, a free market economy, and all efforts to create a free market economy always result in economic destruction.

The U.S. has a market economy regulated by representative balanced government. The best thing the U.S. has ever had going for it is its constitutional government.

You people who have bought into this free market advertising campaign, who fail to see that the free market concept is nothing but repackaged communism, are helping those who want to destroy the government of the U.S., and turn control of our country over to International Corporations, primarily the bankers.

Deregulation passed by Gingrich and the republicans destroyed our economy by setting up a set of rules that allowed corruption to spread like wildfire throughout the finance sector. The dotcom bubble wasn't enough, you managed to get a free market president, GW, elected, whose administration refused to enforce the laws against business corruption, which is the way you free market communists think things should be, and then our economy totally collapsed.

Now you support this supposed tea party, who support the same policies that cause our nation to collapse in the first place. King George would have been proud at how you loyalists are succeeding in bringing down the U.S..

It's Pathetic.

I am really sorry.
I am sorry that what you say is pretty much what it has looked liked to me all along.
I am sorry that you are probably right.
I am sorry that no matter if they would acknowledge that or not, you and I do not matter. We do not agree with them and now that is all that really matters.
If you ever go to the gun clubs you know how it goes.

"I wish they would string that Liberal ------- up!"

Yay!

You might want to consider the roles conservatives have played in the destruction of our economy, as it was the primary role.

And what you just said is what I am trying to point out. The liberal BLIND SPOT! Everyone points fingers at the Big Bad Rebooblicans who are on the side of Big Bad Corporations. (So why should I bother although I have done so.)

NO ONE ever bothers to show the Democrats are just as GUILTY. If someone tries then the person is mobbed like a ball in rugby!

GEEZE, the banker/corporate elite have been play the same blasted game for a HUNDRED YEARS, isn't it time we WISED UP????

Here Are TWO EXAMPLES, one from a hundred years ago and one from the last decade.

Senator Nelson Aldrich, Republican majority leader of the Senate, introduced the "Aldrich Plan" in 1911. . William Howard Taft, was president, and the Republicans, were in control of the government through a Republican majority in both houses. Even so his bill did not pass.

So the Bankers pulled a bit of sleight of hand. Taft was popular but they wanted him out.

...Theodore Roosevelt "threw his hat into the ring." He announced that he was running as a third party candidate, the "Bull Moose". His candidacy would have been ludicrous had it not been for the fact that he was exceptionally well-financed. Moreover, he was given unlimited press coverage, more than Taft and Wilson combined. As a Republican ex-president, it was obvious that Roosevelt would cut deeply into Taft’s vote. This proved the case, and Wilson won the election. To this day, no one can say what Theodore Roosevelt’s program was, or why he would sabotage his own party. Since the bankers were financing all three candidates, they would win regardless of the outcome. Later Congressional testimony showed that in the firm of Kuhn Loeb Company, Felix Warburg was supporting Taft, Paul Warburg and Jacob Schiff were supporting Wilson, and Otto Kahn was supporting Roosevelt...

Enter Carter Glass, stage left.
Glass was a democrat and the 1913 Glass-Owen Act created the Federal Reserve signed into law by Wilson another Democrat.

Glass’s denunciation of the Aldrich Bill as a central bank plan ignored the fact that his own Federal Reserve Act would fulfill all the functions of a central bank

Here is the more recent example.
(The history goes back even further)

S. 2910: Safe Food Act of 2004... Sponsor: Sen. Richard Durbin [D-IL] www.govtrack.us...

H.R. 2236: Consumer Food Safety Act of 2005...Sponsor: Rep. Frank Pallone [D-NJ6] www.govtrack.us...

The SWITCH to the Republicans and the obligatory lambasting in the press...

House Passes Controversial Food Safety Bill; Lawmakers Found to Have Close Ties to Food Industry Lobbyists

Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a controversial bill ”backed by the food industry and supported by several key lawmakers whose family members or close friends are food-industry lobbyists"

According to reports filed with Congress and brought to light by the Associated Press, lobbyists for the bill include Abigail Blunt, the wife of House Majority Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo., who works for Altria, the parent company of Kraft Foods, two formers staffers to House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Brad Card, brother of White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card and former chief aide to Rep. John Sweeney, R-N.Y.

So back we go to the DEMOCRATS:

DeLauro has introduced the Food Safety Act of 2007, which would create a Food Safety Administration... SOURCE

The Food Safety Modernization Act of 2008..... Sponsor: Sen. Richard Durbin [D-IL] www.govtrack.us...

H.R. 875: Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009... Sponsor: Rep. Rosa DeLauro [D-CT3] www.govtrack.us...

AND THE SWITCH:
And last we come up with S 510 The Food Safety Modernization Act and Senator Richard Burr A Republican from North Carolina who sponsored the last stretch.

According to a recent report from the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), ten of the 15 Congressmen that Monsanto helped fund won their seats, including Senators Richard Burr of North Carolina... Greenpeace found the Rosa Delauro - Monsanto connection earlier. linky

Note that his DISHONEST office staff assured me he was totally against the food safety act just before the election.

Aren't Lame duck sessions dandy... BUT I HAVE a LONG MEMORY.....
