Nothing like a little bias to the poll with that image in the OP

I don't participate in biased polls that are geared to elict a certain response.

Agreed:

3. The conservatives/Republicans are focused exclusive on spending cuts as a condition for raising the debt ceiling.

Yes, they are solely focused on cuts. But not cuts across the board, as the question implies, in perfect lockstep with the GOP's propaganda. Where are the cuts to defense spending? Where are the cuts to the pork barrel projects in their districts?

Of the parties involved in this issue, which do you believe are the most corrupt? Signifcantly Somewhat None Honest Virtuous President Obama Republicans/conservatives Democrats/liberals Tea Party Conservative-focused news media Liberal-focused news media

Umm, the 'tea party' ARE Republicans. Not a separate party, as your question impies. Why not include 'yellow dogs'? Why not include military? hy not include Log Cabin Republicans?

ATS=transparently favoring the GOP.

I think the tea party originally was a legitimate movement expressing disgust with both parties, until the entrenched politicians realized they were a threat, and also realized most were deeply conservative and easy to coax back under their 'wing'. "Just come back to me baby, I won't hit you again. I'll listen to your needs and concerns, this time."

regardless, they are not a 'party' as the poll claims, any more than the yellow dogs or the log cabin Republicans. Claiming so only perpetuates the myth that they arent people who ran as Republicans, who vote as Republicans. When/if they actually run as an independent Party, then they can be referred to as such. Until then, to do so is obvious political manipulation once again proving ATS 'neutrality' is a myth. They carry water for the GOP.

I can't really take this poll. I'm not objective enough and I have no idea what is involved in answering economic questions. As far as I am concerned, an economic crash was PLANNED a long time ago. The whole thing has been engineered. There is no difference between Republicans and Democrats. I only can distinguish between human and non-human.

We are screwed no matter what the outcome is. They always win, we always lose.

Seems to me that's more semantics. In this theater, there are 3 factions, very clearly. Part of me wants to believe the 'tea party' wing of the Republicans are for real. This reminds me of the TARP thing. And, I believe the tea party did as well as it did, partly because our politicians ignored us during the TARP fiasco. We said no, they told us to F ourselves, and the people voted in the 'tea party' Republicans because they claim they are doing what the people want, to reign in the government. It almost looks like they're doing it. Rand Paul was just on, saying he would vote for Reid's plan if they include a balanced budget amendment over something like 8 years. That seems pretty reasonable, as we do need to balance our budget. Too bad this 3rd faction wasn't around in the run up to the Iraq war.

Forgive me if this has already been said:

Y'all really need to work on your ability to write questions. Your first question assumes the statement is correct, that a default will happen and do you feel a default is good for a certain reason. If you don't think a default is in the offing (default on the Fed, problem taken care of), or if you think the default is good for some other reason than stated, then you have no proper way to answer the question. This is true for many questions.

I agree. If you're going to write a poll the questions shouldnt be the oppinion of the writer. I refuse to even take this poll simply because I dont agree with the first question...

Where's the question...

Do you believe that raising the debt ceiling and raising taxes is the right thing to do but you know that it will only be a matter of time before they get rid of the cuts and start spending us right back into a hole while still holding the American people to higher taxes?

A) Agree
B) Disagree

For all of you on either side of the fence and mental midgets who simply cannot figure it out...

The above image posted by the OP [ in this case Skeptic Overlord] was simply meant as a joke/emotional response inducer to promote pole activity.

As of yet...

The disproportionate oddly liberal biased results haven't been posted yet......

Bear/bare with me....

Wow, the insanity is simply mind boggling.....

"I can't take this poll....insert excuse here."
"I won't take this poll...insert inane response here."

It's JUST a poll. By not taking it you are excluding yourself from having your opinion heard in the results.

That's like saying, "Gee, I'm not gonna vote in the next election because I don't like the politicians that are running." Well, if you don't vote, then don't bellyache about the shape the country is in.

I think the poll, however skewed, is simply that, a poll. It doesn't change the policies of the US government, it doesn't do anything at all, except dazzle us with pretty 3-D bar graphs.

It's too bad our government wasn't run by online polls. Then, we'd really have a voice in our own government. How about that?

By participating in it, you are having your 'opinion' skewed to fit a pre-determined outcome. My opinions are in no way represented by the comically limited possible answers as dictated by carefully framed questions and possible answers.

I see people critical of poll methodology on this website all the time. ATS's own polls should not just be a farcical reproduction of those same methods if they want to continue to pretend they are non-partisan in terms of the US political system.

I hope your right. What I fear are the deals that Harpturd has made with the U.S. giving them free license to take over with martial law if they deem a terrorist threat. What I fear is the trade agreements Harpturd has made for many of our precious resources. What I fear that in a blink of the eye our country will become Canada of the United States. So even though things 'appear' to be swell there is a storm brewing and just maybe there is no cover.

The trouble with surveys is the person or people who write them "force" the outcome of the survey to their want.
The questions are geared that only a dumb person would not give the exact same answer as everyone else.

They are too narrow and too few by a long shot. Not a good survey. Another way people who want certain answers for their publications get those answers they seek.

It may have been intended as such..maybe, but that doesn't change the fact that the picture completely and totally skews the poll for many people. The proof is in this thread. It was a bad choice and we all know it.

In order for this website to retain it's "credit" with it's highly scrutinizing fan base, it needs to hold itself to the highest standards. If not, please stop inappropriately using the phrase "Deny Ignorance", because it wont reflect the spirit of this website any longer. If it even does at this moment.

The only way the poll is skewed, is by the twisted perception of the poll taker (or non-poll taker).

If a simple photo causes you to feel susceptible to specific inclinations, I cannot imagine how bad the TV mesmerizes you!

Anyways, I don't mind publicly sharing my poll responses.

I answered Neutral on everything, because it's all fantasy in the end.
Except on the section where it was asked "Who is the most corrupt", I marked all of them down as ultra-corrupt.

Don't worry, the photo didn't influence my answers in any way at all.

I want you all to picture this scene in your mind. There is a room with a tiny stage that is shaped like a television by the front wall and the rest of the room is filled with chairs facing the little stage. On this stage is some puppets that are dangling from their strings and the chairs are filled with you and all of the people of the world. You all have been sitting in these same chairs for many many years watching and listening to these puppets. each of you are unaware of the other people sitting in the chairs next to you. To all of you, the puppet show has been all that has ever existed. It is your reality. The puppets get changed now and then to represent change to you but they always say the same thing. After the puppet show, each of you are escorted out to a gigantic room where you can discuss the puppet issues that you have witnessed yourself in your little chair that sat in front of that little stage. The only ideas you have are the ones presented to you by all of your personal puppets (each personal puppet is the same puppet, but no one knows it because they were unaware that others were there watching too). Because these puppets have been your reality for all of this time, they have fed you ideas and have presented opposing ideas for you to remember. When the discussions begin, some will discuss one of the ideas and some will inject the opposing ideas that was presented to them. If you were able to separate the people into groups of the same ideas, then put each group into a separate room and tell them to write what their idea is down on a piece of paper, you could take all of those papers and match them up almost perfectly with what the puppets had told them. People tend to argue puppet points perpetually and rarely veer from them. It would be nice if the puppets told of forgiveness and taught that no one should go hungry, that everyone should go out of their way to help or feed others and teach others how to feed themselves. The problem is, we are the only ones here in our minds, the only ones that count. We should realize that material things are only that, material things. We aren't the only ones put here on this earth, their are other people here too. That was not by mere chance. Maybe we should start by figuring out how each of us can help to bring the others comfort along with ourselves instead of listening to puppets that are really only here for our amusement and not for us to take so seriously.

You're exactly correct and that is exactly why it's skewed because it effects the perception of the poll taker. The proof is contained in this thread. How many people in this thread said "I refuse to take this poll because it's biased"? Now ask yourself how many people those people represent. Now, are those people not taking the poll because they like Obama? Or maybe because they refuse to take a poll which is clearly doomed to failure from the beginning?

Either way the poll is missing a representative sample of pole takers because of the pic and therefore the results will be skewed and the poll will be a complete waste of time. Unless of course the ATS staff did this for the own entertainment and are truly not interested in an accurate poll. If that's the case, then....Bravo! Well Done! /Clap

It's currently impossible to create something with a focus on US political topics and issues that groups of people will NOT claim bias.

I'm biased against all the actions of all politicians in Washington... I suppose it showed.
