In spite of constant headlines about debts and deficits, most Americans don’t really believe the U.S. dollar will collapse. From knowledgeable investors who study the markets to those seemingly too busy to worry about such things, most dismiss the idea of the dollar actually going to zero.

History has a message for us: No fiat currency has lasted forever. Eventually, they all fail.

It seems inevitable that the US dollar will collapse. With debt and deficit rising to unprecedented levels it is becoming more and more obvious that it is only a matter of time.

Will the US dollar collapse? Debts and deficits are what lead to the downfall of currencies.

Consider, then, that there is no historical precedent for an economy that exceeds a 250% debt-to-GDP ratio without experiencing some sort of financial crisis or high inflation, and that US total debt now exceeds GDP by roughly 400%.

Once a country’s payments on debt exceed 30% of tax revenue, the currency is “done for.” The US will hit that figure by October. Hyperinflation is caused by government budget deficits. This year’s US budget deficit will end up being $1.5 trillion, an amount never before seen in history.

This is of course very worrying. The impact of the collapse of the dollar would be catastrophic and could cause a shift in world power in my opinion. If this were the case then more wars may erupt as a struggle for power ensues globally. This is certainly possible in my opinion.

The article linked lists some currencies that have collapsed in the past, some not so long ago. You may also notice that events following some of these collapses were terrible historically speaking and some are remembered as all time low points for humanity. More from the article:

BMG BullionBars recently published a poster featuring pictures of numerous currencies that have gone bust. Some got there quickly, while others took a century or more. Regardless of how long it took, though, the seductive temptations allowed under a fiat monetary system eventually caught up with these governments, and their currencies went poof!

You might suspect this happened only to third world countries. You’d be wrong. There was no discrimination as to the size or perceived stability of a nation’s economy; if the leaders abused their currency, the country paid the price.

As you scroll through the currencies below, you’ll see some long-ago casualties. What’s shocking, though, is how many have occurred in our lifetime. You might count how many currencies have failed since you’ve been born.

Could this happen to the US dollar? Well hopefully not although it seems that it may just be unavoidable at this point. I believe that the impacts of this collapse will be unprecedented. A shift in global power seems very likely and what may ensue could be disastrous for millions of people. I wonder what would happen if IT happened......???

That seems like a fair bit of scare mongering from a web site which has a vested interest in selling gold.......

The USD could collapse but not likely in the scenarios they suggest IMO.

You see but then I start thinking New World Order, as long as it's not controlled by psychopathic globalists then I might be cool with it. It is pretty much the same thing right?

No it wont be the same, it would change the name of the game for all business in the world. Think about it, we the US have many companies that manufacture their products in other countries because it is cheaper to pay them. Our US dollar is worth more to them. So if, per say, 1 US dollar = 5 Yen ( just an example, not actual exchange rate, not even close lol) Then we save money paying those over seas workers where say are just happy making 5 yen an hour. If all the worlds money is the same and worth the same, that would all collapse.

If US dollar crashes...two things will likely happen:

a) The Chinese Yuan will take over as the world currency to peg other currencies too
b) The Canadian dollar will rise in value relative to US dollar...and more Canadians will shop in the US thus helping the US economy

Canadian dollar has been sitting at $1.05 for a while now. They're already shopping down there, and I've heard that some Cdns are also buying up some properties.

One of the biggest deterrents to shopping down there is the border hassles. Both US and Cdn border guards are being asses from what I hear.

there is a greater chance of a comet hitting the earth and destroying everyone on earth ( except me and all my COD mates and all my guild members in WoW )in 2012 than the USD collapsing any time soon, the USD will be here for a long time yet

Sure the dollar will be here for a long time until you use it all up as toilet paper.
Right now I see a good investment in Toilet Paper and other trade goods.

Study what happened in Argentina not to long ago. They went to their ATM's and nothing came out. The whole shell game came down overnight with no real signs of it failing. Businesses of all sorts shuttered.
The people had to start Barter Marts and came in and took over factories with what ever they could find as supplies and re-opened their own Markets cause the Big Boy's ran out on them. Sure their not fully recovered, but they knew they had to start something on their own when their trust in the system was flawed from blind trust in lies that seemed truths.

I do have Hope, but a wise man is a prepared man.

I like those Tesla bucks.
Tesla had infinite energy from the environment but no bucks to prove it.
Now we need both.

I invest in funds that loan to the government.
Make more debt OK with me just pay up with higher interest.
Those bail outs just screwed up my business.

Very nice but how do americans get to buy food.

My guess if big time riots with those who got us into the mess telling us how they are going to get us out and people returning to parter and silver/gold coins

How ever did we come so that we allowed zionist bankers to rule our politicans when all we needed to do was enforce the law of treason against the puppets in power that people are calling the shoots.

If the American people don't storm the Capitol and the Federal Reserve building the very day the dollar collapses... what little faith I have left in humanity will drop to below zero.

I think if the world currencies collapsed , people would still have their gold, then they would barter that for food and whatever, once the Gov had all the gold they could start another currency backed by all the gold they now have, we would be broke and they have all the gold.

At some point the banksters will make a grab for the gold so don't be fooled.

The price is only digits pn a computer and they own the computer so watchout for a massive dip with the zionist press trying to make the dip look logical.

if you're not ready for this game then bedt to get out now instead of pulling out when they try to shake you out.

I hope it happens!

Britains "floating pound" should do quite nicely out of the crisis.
