US soldier arrested over domestic plot

www.theaustralian.com.au

POLICE in Texas said Thursday they had arrested a US soldier mounting a "terror plot" against Fort Hood, the military base where a fellow serviceman went on a deadly shooting rampage in 2009.
The soldier, who appeared last year in a documentary saying he was a Muslim who opposed deployment to Afghanistan, became the target of suspicion after a gun-shop owner noticed his unusual purchases of weapons.
Police tracked down the soldier to a budget hotel near Fort Hood and arrested him, police said.
The soldier, a Texas native, served at Fort Campbell in Kentucky but had been missing since Jul

And now it starts again. The problems are coming up again, as here again, a soldier who raised his right hand, swore an oath, signed his name on the dotted line, all in the name of religion, decided to attempt to cause a greater problem than that of what is currently going on. This is not a good sign, as it will only lead to suspiscions and further fear against those who are muslim or follow the Islamic religion, the question as to who a person can trust is going to be called and on the forefront of everyones mind. The war on terror is over, and unfortunately, the West lost, when actions like these come to the forefront.

We stand around and watch as our military essentially manufactures crazy people and then are surprised when a killbot malfunctions. I do not in any way take lightly what these brave souls are out there doing but it is what it is. Im actually surprised this doesnt happen more, or maybe it does, and we just dont know. And even with that being said, these people look at what is going on around them and feel the need to inject bullets in order to affect some kind of meaningful change, and the bloodshed is more a necessary evil rather than a goal. Perhaps we need to take a look at the system from their perspective. They might understand something we do not.

I just found out, with a bit of further information, is that he was being discharged from the US army, was AOWL, and the reason for being discharged, is that they found child pornography on his personal computer. He was a conscientious objector, so the question raises up, why was he in the military and what was he hoping to gain?

A long long time ago in a forest far far away,
a monkey killed another friggen monkey.
Friends of the dead monkey then decided to avenge his death.
Is how it all started.

The question should be:

How does someone who is looking at stuff like that justify any type of action against people fueled by any religion of any kind....

It's all personal in my opinion, religion is a scapegoat for these people.

In that thread, I give some history of Nassar. I knew him when he was a kid.

If he was a conscientious objector was the porn found before or after he made it known? I ask because it wouldnt be unheard of for someone to pull a smear job because they wanted to discredit someone who encourages free thought.. Maybe he was pissed and decided to dish out payback.

He is a coward and scumbag, people like that are not real soldiers.

Traitor to his country, his people and unit.

I hope he gets sent to Gitmo, and never sees the light of day again.

That would be better than what I would do to him...

I saw in the other thread that he had a rough life. Things are tough all over though and that can only be an excuse up to a point.

Sorry, I kind of posted the wrong thing here....

To recover let me just say that while this is totally inexcusable I expect we will see more and more of it because the miltary is failing to provide for its sons and daughters! Physically as well as psychologically.

Punish this man, but also take closer steps to monitor the mental health of soldiers!!!

Well, since noone is posting in this thread: www.abovetopsecret.com... I suppose I could post updates here....

The consensus among the folks here who knew him is that the child porn thing and the AWOL thing... totally plausible. The making bombs with plans of blowing up people... doesn't seem likely.

Anyway.. still getting reactions from the people here who knew him... will post anything new as I see it.

Every one please deny ignorance.

I remember this case a while back, this isn't new. He refused to serve and then child pornography was found on a laptop given to him for usage, the lap top wasn't his, it was only used for a period of time, so it was given to him, then returned. There is a possibility that others could have put it in there, after all there is a lot of animosity going on against those who are not willing to serve.

And it isn't just Muslims who are refusing to serve in Afghanistan and Iraq, some Americans had to flee to Canada just to avoid serving for the elite in their wars of aggression.

This is a clear setup, the government doesn't want more and more soldiers who would refuse service in these wars, this is just a warning, don't try it or you will end up like this guy.

This man shouldn't be under arrest because he hasn't done anything wrong, his guns should be taken from him as a precaution until a full investigation takes place, but he shouldn't be arrested and held in custody, that would be against his rights. Buying guns isn't a crime.

I think along side any investigation into this mans personal state of mind and criminal responsibility , and any crimes he may have committed, there should be a parallel investigation into the mental health of the whole armed services of both the US and the UK. Furthermore, I believe that a very thorough look should be had at the whole battlefield medication issue, to see if theres any way a soldier at arms can come to have dangerous levels of drugs in his system as a result of the protective meds men are given in theatre.

wasn't there a story at the beginning of this week about another soldier trying to board a plane with a bomb?

^Apparently they think he just stole it from a training exercise and didn't plan to attack anyone...

Back on topic...

This soldier that was just arrested in the apparent plot to attack ft hood conveniently brought up our favorite 'spiritual leader' once again...

Fort Hood Suspect Mentions al Qaeda Cleric Believed to Have Inspired Previous Attack, Official Says
July 28, 2011

...According to one senior official, Abdo has also mentioned the name of high profile al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki -- the same man investigators said inspired the previous Fort Hood attack along with other potentially deadly terror plots in the U.S. --

from last year...

The underwear bomber was walked past security onto the plane by a guy in a nice suit. Two lawyers aboard the plane reported it immediately and tried to make it public, and there were a ton of similar complaints/reports, even some of someone on the plane videotaping the bomber throughout the whole flight. The state department even admitted to putting the guy on the plane, whether they knew about the bomb or not...

Patrick F. Kennedy, an undersecretary for management at the State Department, said Abdulmutallab's visa wasn't taken away because intelligence officials asked his agency not to deny a visa to the suspected terrorist over concerns that a denial would've foiled a larger investigation into al-Qaida threats against the United States.

(Related; A US soldier who captured a deadly 2009 rampage at Fort Hood with his cell phone camera testified Friday that he was ordered to erase the videos by his commanders.)

Speaking of the underwear bomber and fort hood, the guy who we're told is behind the thinking of the terrorists, their 'spiritual leader' Anwar al-Awlaki, was also the spiritual leader for the NY car bomb attempter, and they're saying the same about the recent printer cartrige bomb crap.

He was also directly linked to 'terror plots' in toronto and fort dix, nj.

Funny thing is, is that even though the government said the same stuff about him being the spiritual adviser for the 9/11 hijackers, and the fact that he's on our most-wanted lists (and has been for a long time), he ended up participating in a special lunch for Muslim outreach at the pentagon two months after september 11...

It's convenient too that his name came up earlier this week when it came out that we almost got the bad guy...

US 'came within inches' of killing al-Qaeda mastermind Anwar al-Awlaki
July 21, 2011

United States forces came within inches of killing Anwar al-Awlaki, the American-born radical Islamic cleric and al-Qaeda leader, just four days after Osama bin Laden was shot dead.

More convenience... we're already in the process of being made safer...

It is not a matter of ignorance, but of law. Consider this, what is the job of anyone in the military? They are trained to follow the chain of command and if need be to kill. They are trained for such, things like guns, tanks, planes, bombs, missiles, all of those are for killing, not for decoration. As there is no draft, then, and being a private, knowing that the US was engaged in 2 separate armed conflicts right now, just what did he think was going to happen when he raised his right hand and agreed to the terms and conditions that was in the conflict, stay behind? And if killing was so abhorrent to this individual, then why did he go out and purchase guns himself? What was he going to do with them and the ammunition, use it for decoration?
They found child porn on the Laptop, that is not the issue, the issue here is that he was found in a town, near a military base, purchasing weapons, and in possession of bombs. The military did not pick him up, the police did, in Texas of all places, near an Army base. Something does not seem right about this, and it goes back to the soldier, who went AWOL. Most people who go AWOL, the last thing that they are going to want to do, is go near a Military Base, and tend to keep a very low profile, as the consequences of their actions, combined with that the military is looking for them, can be a bit bad, especially when they are caught.
The poster is correct, buying guns is not illegal, however, if you are a convicted felon, which this guy is, by his own actions, of being AWOL, then it is illegal for him to purchase any sort of firearms, and to have bomb making material.

Excuse me but, am I still on ATS website?

Do I see my fellow ATS'ers throwing stones at someone who has been accused before being found guilty just because the MSM says so? Are there ATS'ers in here who are actually saying GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY, THROW HIM TO THE DOGS!

WOW, I thought I would never see this kind of behavior in here of all places.

Here is something that might interests some people in here who still deny ignorance:

When this all started

First he wanted to leave because of his faith
then that was placed on hold for finding porn on a device that was in his possession
then he went AWOL
then they find him with guns after receiving a tip that he bought guns
then the media tells us that he admitted to wanting to cause harm to others?
it just doesn't jive with what his first statement.

I am not saying that this is not his intentions, I am saying that I want to hear him say that he wanted to do this.
Does anyone have a video clip of that? We all know how interrogations are handled in this country.

I believe in a fair trial but I don't think this dude is going to get that.

Beware, if you join the armed forces, you better have damn good intentions of staying and with honor.
