This 27 year veteran of the Illinois State Troopers was caught looking at child porn in his police cruiser. He will only get 60 days in jail and a $2000 fine, and of course have to register as a sex offender. Granted being registered will stay with him the rest of his life, other sex offenders of this nature have had much heavier punishments. His excuse for doing it was he was bored. The article also states that as early as 2003 he was under suspicion of child porn. I bet his standing as an officer took the heat off of him. Below is link to an article I posted a few days ago with three stories about abuse by cops and teachers, one of which was another officer charged with 189 counts of child molestation of 22 children.

Google told me "There are approximately 883600 people employed as a Police and Detectives."

I imagine there'll be a lot of bad ones. If only 1% are bad - the bad ones that get exposed still leaves thousands unaccounted for.

afterthought: I think most of them work where I live

Hmmm, I wonder if this police officer has any connection to the catholic church or Michael jackson.

On a more serious note, who are we supposed to trust when we find that all of the venues that should be most trusted seek to be the ones we should trust the least.

Being an officer, the individual is exposed to all kinds of things. At some point...they become jaded. As a porn director put it..."I've seen so many things...I actually have to have a little kink in it to get aroused."

Likewise, with a cop...they may not have ever been exposed to kiddie porn...and then saw some in a raid or as evidence and it stirred something. From that point on, they were hooked.

Now this is not to justify their interest in kiddie porn... it is wrong. On the other hand, they are exposed to a lot of things we would never even contemplate in the "safe" confines of our everyday worldof country homes and suburbs and city apartments.

I never contemplated or even thought of eating a squid until i saw it on a buffet...tried it, and i liked it.

Not to make light of the subject, but sometimes we are exposed to things that we normally wouldn't consider and find that it does something for us.

Again, I do NOT condone this particular action or interest, but that may be the answer to the OP question.
