Bush was a train wreck, most people will agree.
But continuing to blame Bush for all of Obama's woes is getting old, especially on the issues Obama promised action.

EXACTLY!! Bush put our economy on the road to ruin and that is precisely how Obama got elected. It wasn't a vote for Obama, it was a vote against Bush's policies and the Republican House and Senate. Obama promised change and the American people embraced his pledge. He promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term and instead it has soared from just over 10 trillion when he took office to over 14 trillion today. It's still climbing, so it's highly probable that by the end of his first term he will be sitting on a record-busting deficit that his own administration added 5 trillion (or more) to. That's a sorry testament considering his promise to cut the deficit in half, and it's an excellent example of how pathetic his administration is. Forget the Tea Party, the Obama administration deserves 100% of the blame for the train wreck that is the last 3 years. Remember, the Tea Party really didn't exist until the 2010 elections, Obama had 2 years of a Democratically controlled House, Senate and presidency to work his magic and he did absolutely nothing of value in that time. No, he took a bad situation and made it much worse. Make no mistake, I'm no fan of either party. But people who try and defend Obama are just in total denial of the facts.

Democrats were in power by 06. What's a prez to do if Congress wont cooperate. But Michael Savage did say that Bush is a fiscal socialist and I tend to agree at this point.

When you consider how much the Dollar was devalued during the time Governor Bush was in office, the debt incurred since Obama took office isn't as bad as it looks....

Yes it is on Bush! Although I don't like Obama, he is not to blame for the Afghanistan and Iraq wars! You cannot just pull several thousands of troops out of a country that they just destroyed! I don't put all the blame on Bush though, actually I blame the CIA more than anyone! I just think Bush was in on it all due to his dad being a big part of the CIA!

Well maybe some of the good conservatives that are up in their 70s will bail us out by refusing to cash their Social Security checks. I really F00king doubt it... I never knew or have heard of a rich person that was aligned with the Republican party refuse a government check even if it wasn't theirs.

I partially agree with you but honestly (IMO) all of the Presidents pretty much since Kennedy is to blame, so is the Federal Reserve, so is the Pentagon, etc... I could go on and on. Anybody who doesn't see that and tries to blame any President alone is in denial! THEY ARE ALL TO BLAME!!!!!

There are better ways to convey your thoughts than intentionally trying to peeve someone off. By doing what you did, you have clouded otherwise well-meaning people's minds with anger to the point where they probably won't give a crud about what you are trying to point out.

Please try not to cloud peoples deep seeded resentment and sense of outrage with... the truth.
People hate that and might become offended. How dare this guy bandy the truth around like it is some kind of badge of honor. Who does he think he is?

Nice chart. Doesn't tell the half if it, but it is nice.
Point 1. If Bush was trying to put out a fire out with a bucket of gasoline, then why would Obama think that using a bigger bucket of gas would solve the problem.
Point 2. If we really really apologise, would the Queen take us back?

Great thread. Many Republicans here (they have hijacked this site, sadly) will whine and whine about how Obama is a big bad evil Socialist who spends too much money. Even though I'm not his biggest fan, these people forget how bad it was under the Bush administration. I guess they don't realize how Grateful they should be with Obama in the White House.

Oh well, let them learn. They'll only be happy when a white man is back in the White House.

Instead of egging on the Tea Party wackos, I'd say let's just ignore them. Isn't that what you're suppose to do to the annoying kid who wants attention anyway?

And lets see how it plays out when the next President gets in and leaves the office! Redumblican or Democrook, it doesn't matter! They don't give a sh#t about this country. All they care about is their bank account and how much power they can have even after they get out of office! This country is going to ruins and most recent previous Presidents are to blame. Not just Obama and Bush. Clinton may have been a good President but I think he had a false deficit that decieved the American Public!

Nice we know that they all (politicians) have done their part in Destroying this economy, certainly it's not All O's fault, but he is making it worse, but to be completely fair it was so far Screwed that honestly I didn't expect him to be able to fix it. I don't blame him solely there's plenty of people the blame goes to. It starts with Bill Clinton and the Urban buyers' approvals for mortgage loans (I love Bill Clinton so it did saddened me to find out the housing bubble was his fault mainly) but it is what it is and it's so beyond repair that I don't think Jesus Christ could fix it. Anybody expecting things to get better with the economy is wishing for more than a miracle, and anybody beleiving any politician will be our savior is blinded by stupidity.

How arrogant of the government to consider a tax cut a cost... as though the money individuals earn from their labor first and foremost belongs to the government, and that the government merely spent it, giving it back to the one's that earned it in the first place.

The safeguards that were in place to protect lenders along with numerous others that protected consumers were changed by the work of Senator Phil Graham.. A man that never had a dollar in his life that came from the private sector legally.

Obama is probably more conservative with spending the Bush was. However, he surely isn't putting a stop to spending. He is continuing the policies of the Bush administration. The President could end the wars in one pen stroke. He could refuse to grant the Bush tax extensions but he didn't.

This thread is like watching two people bickering over how to put out a fire while the house burns down around them.

Maybe everyone should stop worrying about who is, or is not, to blame for the mess our country is in & instead focus on real solutions.

Besides, if we really want to blame someone, why don't we all take a portion of that blame ourselves, we are the ones who elected these politicians, we are the ones bickering while they do whatever they want & we are the ones standing idly by as they send us head first into a depression. (but hey, just go on pointing fingers & blaming everyone else because that solves so much...
)

Do you honestly think people are gonna trust The New York Times when they spin stuff far left all the time.Anyways I'm about fed up with people blaming each other. Not gonna go away pointing fingers at each other.Bottom line is Congress and Obama admin has to stop spending money and pay the consequences for letting this countrys debt get out of control.Only way you fix it is to cut out alot of spending like any family would do and sacrfice things and only spend money on things you realy need.If only the government could think this way.We need to stop blaming each other and do with less and let the government have enough power to protect us from the real enemy that started this turmoil and decline of economy. That turmoil was caused by 9/11 and al-qeada and has declined ever since with wars and corruption with money scandals and controversal bailouts, and seems to have just gotten further divided with Obama as president.
