Interesting. Check my video I just posted above. It was taken in North Hollywood on that day

I don't know about that video... to me it looked like the roof of a bus or trailer as it traveled up the road along the hillside. I think the bird at 1:06 looked more like a UFO than that!

You have GOT to be KIDDING! Skip again to 1:27, it is NOT a bird or a BUS. It's either another hoax or a UFO. It's clearly your typical UFO suspended in air.

Ha, I dont know how people could possibly think that those two videos are real. The audio is a give away before i even saw the UFO. Its way too clear in that first one not too mention the terrible acting. The CGI Is crap, and both videos seem to know where the UFO is going to go - they magically follow it as soon as it shoots off.

Boo.

My question.... Has anyone really seen a UFO take off like that? It seems so Hollywood...

To answer your question, Yes; in the winter of 1978, middle of December, myself, my best friend, and the man we both worked for witnessed a very large, elongated triangular ship pass over our heads right after sundown, watched it move off to our left for some distance, do a vertical 90 and shoot straight up out of sight in a millisecond...

So, yeah, they have been seen to move like that...

Those kind of sudden accellerations from a hovering position have been pretty commonly reported over the years. There is a decent example of this maneuver at about 5:10 of this video..

Those kind of sudden accelerations from a hovering position have been pretty commonly created by hoaxers over the years. It's probably the most common CGI UFO exit ever.

I don't know what angers me more...

A) That people make these hoaxes.
B) That so-called UFOlogist still post these obvious hoaxes in UFO forums, even when they are obviously hoaxes.

Personally, if I saw this video first, I would have instantly known it was a hoax because it is obvious, and I would have never wasted my time, nor anyone else's time, by posting it here on ATS or any other UFO forum.

Very, very well said.

As to the OP... Why did you even bother posting the abundantly clear hoax?

Because we can learn from the poorer CGI hoaxes how to spot the better ones...

By learning in this way, over the years I've proved quite a few videos and photos to be hoaxes and got the relevant hoaxer to admit (and explain) the methods behind their work.

All the best,

Isaac

Yeah, CGI has come a long way since the 1950s and 1960s, when these maneuvers were being regularly reported by UFO witnesses.

At first hearing it's over Hollywood, I thought some paparazzi had a new toy. (R/C blimp with zoom camera mount. It's not like the tech doesn't exist. What camera toting celeb snoop wouldn't want something like that?) That's what it looked like at first. (Heck it might even be a heavily edited video of such a thing.)

But the really bad voice-over, and camera easily leading the shot during the sudden acceleration says fake to me. (The earlier comment about the porn acting made me lol. Also unless you're following something already moving or have some means of anticipating movement, there's really no good way to lead a shot like that.)

No I'm not kidding. And as you want to be rude about it... YOU must be kidding! You think the only options are that it's a UFO or a hoax?! Think of the logic behind that statement... of all possible explanations in this crazy world, it's only the two that you can think of?! I'm glad to hear you are open to realistic suggestions...

But I took your advice (despite the rudeness that it was delivered with) and watched it again. And I still have the same opinion. But I'll admit I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing. What I am referring to is at 1:28, it is obviously on the same trajectory as the road that goes up the hill and I can imagine it being the roof of a long vehicle traveling up the road. But let me illustrate what I am talking about...

So please do tell me... are we talking about the same thing?

"You have GOT to be KIDDING!"... try having a little respect for others my friend, we are all in this together

Thanks for the reply, but I don't see how your supplied video illustrates the same style of acceleration. I am aware of those kind of sightings (quick acceleration and deceleration), but my experience of watching UFO clips (I have never seen one) is that it is more common that the UFO just disappears and does not necessarily involve accelerating away. But that is just a personal observation that really isn't all too educated...

Thank-you... I was hoping for a personal story of seeing one disappear in that manner.

I didn't mean to imply that the two videos were all that similar, only that each one features an object at rest which suddenly reaches a relatively high speed with little regard for inertia. Indeed, you are right about many online UFO vids either omitting the object's departure altogether or depicting an object that seems to just disappear. I was talking more along the lines of actual UFO sighting reports, not so much anonymous online videos. The difference between the two is significant, I think. I give much more credence to the former, as it requires an alleged witness to at least fill out a form, be interviewed and put his or her name and/or reputation on the line along with the report. Anyone can post a fraudulent video online with no worries about having to talk to an actual investigator face to face. Takes a lot more sack to try to pull one over on the local police or Air Force base, knowing that you are going to have to sit there and try maintain the ruse while they ask you a bunch of questions and probably think you are crazy. It's also worthwhile to point out that you rarely see an online vid that compares to the good sightings people were reporting back in the day.
