After what happened at the Pentagon????? u dont think the military dont know the truth? lol,, but their holding that, little secret,, for the day they make thier move against an old enemy called TOP SECRET. lol Boy they sure changed a lot of key jobs up top lately,,must be a reshuffling of the "GREAT MINDS" lol

That sounds promising. If the military has its house back in order the rest of the nation will be an pushover. The military is the strongest of all social organisations and makes the biggest difference in how things play out once that phone call is made.

The President could do so, but it would have to be under the proper circumstances otherwise it blows up in his face.

But one of the Constitutional powers of the President already is the ability to call to order a session of Congress, and to place in recess one or both houses if either the House or Senate should choose to remain at an impasse to correct a situation and the impasse was enough to work against the good of the country. Although that is considered to be a temporary action until such time is proper to get Congress working again. But the declaration could be to the States to hold an emergency re-election or other means of sending more cooperative representation. In effect it would be a "Presidentally declared recall" of members of Congress.

Raising the debt ceiling might not be enough of a good reason, but failure to take actions to improve the livelihood of the unemployed, impoverished or oppressed citizens in a timely manner would be.

Although the argument of setting us up to become taxed into oblivion by raising the debt ceiling could be considered protecting the people and would be enough for Congress to "call out the militia" in order to protect itself from a president trying to become a dictator by throwing them into a recess.

This is a good question, as the power has not been used to my knowledge. Unless it was done by Lincoln. Although my memory wants me to believe that Congress called themselves to recess after a number of states declared that they ceded from the Union.

I am going to rant a bit!

Seeing as how Debt is actually a bad thing, upholding it seems a bit counter to our National Security on the level of where our money actually goes and benefits our Nation as a whole!

So to "uphold" anything we need to get to the bottom of their pockets and find out where it all went and who the heck got it! I dare say that they all took a bit home with them and they need to be downgraded along with the rest of the darned inflationary illusion! Nothing costs as much as it does if it is destructible and ages to worthlessness! Nothing, unless it can remain intact and pure and have intrinsic value for society, otherwise it is just another item that can be reduced in cost as it is produced.

Home sales do not constitute a Gross National Product when that product cannot stand beyond 25-50 years, let alone 10 years with the cheap materials they use now. Instead homes should depreciate and no one should be able to own land rather than on a custodial level. Holding more land means paying more taxes; utilizing the land means less taxes. It should be very simple and quite fair. Those products needed to build homes should be able to be reduced in cost rather than increased based on new technologies, and old for that matter, such as the use of Hemp Materials! Yeah Hemp can build a home and cheaply too!

The moment a home-buyer turns the key is the moment the house begins to lose value; let's get down to producing real products again, that is if someone really wants to invest in businesses! Home sales is not a valid product on the level of investment, it only breaks down beyond the value, so in essence homes are a depreciative item unless someone keeps pouring money into them and even then the effects of breaking down continue! There is yet to be a home that does not fall apart beyond the glue of a family!

Instead our "landlords/overlords" used New Home Sales as an investment tool...opps on them and on us, bad investment so nothing to "uphold" but your pants with a pair of suspenders!

Yet they dumped our money in order to save their investments and it didn't work, and yet home sales have nearly come to a screeching halt and still no devaluation because no one wants to lose their shirts, let alone their suspenders!

Let it fall! Let them fall, because they used this to make themselves fat! Now all they have left is War, Drugs, and Oil! BooHoo!

In 1963 a 3-bedroom home sold for $11,000. In 1973 a 3-bedroom home sold for $25,000. Those very same homes bought and sold again several owners later have now reached $150,000 or more. Yet the average working salary has yet to keep up with 1975.

A home should be no more than 1/4 of your earnings otherwise a person would never be able to retire and make a decent living after raising a family and schooling them! Think about that! They knew they were enslaving us and now someone suggests we should "uphold" them?

Where in the heck is that comet? We need a good bonk on the head!

We need to get America back from the Monsters that are hungry for more, and more, and more! People are living on the streets and homes are sitting there empty and most will be torn down because nothing can keep them from falling apart! Nature takes back when there is no one there to give it Life!

Isn't it time we realize our Children are a better investment, technology does not need to destroy us, it can enhance Life and bring a better more brighter future for all living beings! Damn ruthless criminals, they are all worthless scum and they are trying so hard to keep their investments growing at the expense of Life itself! Shame on them and they will all cry one day soon for it, mark my words!

There are also big issues of institutionalised corruption inhibiting congress from acting in the interest of the nation. The judicial branch is unable to address this so it does present an opportunity for the military to aid in dissolving congress and rebuilding the political infrastructure. If the military waits until civil unrest is at a high level it will then be busy taking on millions of the public rather than thousands of the leadership.

You are coming across very aloof in your discussion, this is a big complex issues and if you have a point can you please be clearer about it. Are you talking about the armed population, the self interest of the Military Industrial Complex, a covert alien invasion, mass mind control program or something else?

All military members and the President are sworn to support and defend the constitution agaisnt enimies foreign and domestic. If congress fails to uphold public debt is that grounds for the President and or military to remove the acting congress and call for new elections?

No.

A bondholder could conceivably sue the US Treasury for failure to pay interest, citing the 14th amendment's originally obscure, but newly relevant section: "The validity of the public debt shall not be questioned". That was added to prevent (funny enough with the demographics of the most conservative Republicans) radical politicians from the re-unified former Confederacy from holding the country's debt hostage. (The bonds issued by the Union were repaid, and the bonds issued by the Confederacy were not---i.e. the backers of the South lost alot of money).

The US Supreme court could, conceivably, rule that the debt limitation statue is unconstitutional in so far as it may induce a default on the public debt and that either new debt is permitted to refinance old debt regardless of the limit, or possibly that the whole law is unconstitutional.

The problem is that nobody would have standing to sue unless there were a default, and that would be economically disasterous.

A more likely course is for the Treasury Secretary to ignore the debt limit on these Constitutional grounds. US Congressmen could then have standing to sue the Dept of Treasury who would have an affirmative defense. They could also impeach the Treasury Secretary, and given the current US Senate, he would not be convicted.

To take it one step further could military take similar action against the president for doing the same? Failing to uphold public debt?

Can US President and Congress be considered an enemy of the United States? Their failure to act could do more damage to the US than Osama Bin Laden.

No, it is clearly not the military's role to interfere in any economic or budgetary decision. Ever.
