FBI Raids Anonymous Suspects Using List of Top 1000 Protestors

www.wired.com

It turns out there’s a method behind the FBI’s raids of suspected Anonymous members around the country. The bureau is working from a list, provided by PayPal, of the 1,000 internet IP addresses responsible for the most protest traffic during Anonymous’ DDoS attacks against PayPal last December.

FBI agents served 40 search warrants in January on people suspected of hosing down PayPal during ”Operation Payback” — Anonymous’ retaliatory attack against companies who blacklisted WikiLeaks. On July 19, the feds charged the first 14 defendants under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act

The FBI is conducting raids on people because they are activists and protestors. Is this the start of a "purge" of protestors?

So our govt is waging three unjust wars, bailing out banks for trillions of dollars that they wont share and the ones that expose this corruption and fight it are targeted by the FBI? How does that make sense?

"We always kill those good guys , you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. Jesus - murdered; Martin Luther King - murdered; Malcolm X - murdered; Gandhi - murdered; John Lennon - murdered; Reagan... wounded." - Bill Hicks

"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak out for me."

Not noticing what's going on under their noses just goes to show the blindness of the general public.

So they have 1000 ip addresses. Okay. So do they not know IP's are dynamic, do they not know that it is easy as hell to mask your ip and not get caught.

They used a botnet, a botnet is essentially a virus, a trojan actually, and guess what infects computers regardless of if its Anonymous or not. a botnet. That could be 1000 IP addresses of people who had no idea what was going on, because they got the botnet through exterior means.

Way to go FBI. Go waste some more money finding some teens when there are how many unsolved murders? how many killers on the loose? Go protect the people who pay your salary (big corps), their time will come.

You can't arrest everyone, and when people see 15 year olds getting arrested for making a stand against the plutocracy, people will realize. The movement grows larger and larger.

Its not my quote. Its from comedian Bill Hicks

Brilliant man who died too young. He was going to change the world with his comedy.

Here's a question.

How do they determine that these 1000 IP adresses were responsible for the DDoS attack? DDoSing a site just ramps up the traffic until the site crashes and they are able to take any info.

There are hundreds of people if not thousands that use PayPal for transactions and business. So how do they determine which IP address is that of an Anon attacker and that of a normal customer?

30+ years and every ATS member is going to a FEMA camp or gulag close to his home...

they know every word you type and you will pay the price...always remember, internetz does not forget!!!

because of the kind of data and the period...there are methods...an more interesting question is: how can they be sure the person who is registerd at the ip was actually doing it...maybe your pc got infected by a trojan and was remote controlled...its just a scare tactic because the big ones realized they have little power against internetz...thats why zuckerberg said: privacy has to end...

The FBI will tire of trying to pin this on those they arrested...ill wager their computers were backdoored somehow to run the traffic.
I sure hope soo....maybe these anon types havent any sense......naw....

Haha, people are so quick to judge sometimes "Oh they're just a bunch of stupid kids", and i can't help but think. "Well, any kid smart enough to use a computer for this purpose, knows more than you do already. So."

Don't judge them, just because some of them are young doesn't mean they are any less intelligent.

I seen an FBI report that leaked on some newsite of the attack on koch. The kiddies were actually trying to launch attacks from iphones, which shows how stupid they really are, and the operators were screaming profanities because of how stupid they were, it's all in states evidence (the chat logs).
Someone posted a link to the news site in some other thread here.

The prisons are not going to be large enough or Bubba will get 3 boyfriends per cell instead of one. All them anons better hope the penal system provides them with enough lube to survive their sentences.

it doesn't matter how many people the FBI arrests, the arrests or unjusts deaths from cops would be enough for people to rise more. Right now, with how things are going with the economy, Anonymous is the last thing they should be worried about.

There is always ALWAYS an unseen/unknown force that will have it's sneak attack. And we all know that unseen force is the NWO and i bet they are betting on china for that one.

Here's hoping for people to wake up.

You must be refering to the obvious spot on comparison anyone could make to Anonymous and the Brownshirts of early nazi germany. That group was used by the higher ups in escalating power grabs until finally they were deemed no longer usefull and got butchered by the masters they served in the Night of the Long Knives.

Excellent comparison you made there

Their are hundreds of thousands if not millions world wide who protest 24hrs a day. Computer savvy people masking their locations and changing IP's constantly. It would be very hard to use something like this as probable cause legally..If they had no more evidence than "You were protesting during Anon's DDOS" I think I would be forced to resist such an arrest..

This would be a damaging blow, if anon were a group. But it is an idea, not a group.

Can't kill an idea.

Also notice how this is happening after an online call to boycott paypal was posted through the channels of Anonymous.
