so wouldnt that make you a sun spotter... that sounds as almost as borring as train spotter.

Here's a question - If the sun's hotter inside than it is outside, why are the spots black and not bright white?

What i seen on the internet.

A sunspot is an area on the sun that is cooler than the area around it, they are not actually black

They area surrounding the spots are so bright that they appear black. If you were to take the rest of the sun out of the picture, the sun spots would actually be quite bright.

Nice video, and sunspot 1261 produced a little M9 flare this morning too:

STRONG FLARE: Sunspot AR1261 unleashed a brief but strong M9-class solar flare on July 30th at 0209 UT. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the flare's extreme ultraviolet flash:
