I got sick about 3 weeks ago, and haven't recovered since. My five year old and I got sick at the same time. He came up with mono and enlarged spleen.
I still feel like hell, to put it mildly. I went to the doc last week and got a blood workup, including mono. I came up positive for strep. I did the antibiotic course, still feel like the same hell.
My doc said that if you have never been laid out with mono, you can get no matter what your age.
But apparently like chicken pox, for an adult its worse.
I feel awful, the fatigue is debilitating, aches and pains and fevers. I haven't gotten the test results but got a call to come back in this week to see the doc which means they found something. Been dealing with a lot of naseau and vomiting, though that has tapered off a little the past few days.
This is miserable, I can't imagine spending another month like this. I just want to throw myself in front of a bus.
I was wondering what other's experiences were.

Aaah in that case yep..I had it whilst visiting friends with my children - wasn't 30 but was 28. Thought I was going to die. All the glands in my bod swelled up like golfballs and I could hardly move for over two weeks. Took months to get over fully, that is if I ever did cos I'm not convinced.
I'm just thankful I didn't have to cope with my children on my own.

Nature is cruel to make a virus that makes you feel like death for 2 months.

Sorry you feel so bad!

I had mono in 10th grade and was sick for two months. Since it caused my tonsils to become abcessed, I had to have them removed once I got over the mono.

What did I learn? I'll never ever again drink off of a water fountain!!!

Hope you and your son feel better soon!

Nix...I got mono a few years a go and the doctor told me that once you're infected with the Epstein Bar Virus and you develop mononucleosis, getting any other types of viral or bacterial infections can cause a sort of "flare up" with mono again. Hope you feel better!

I can't be the only person with mono. The reason I specified age is because it is supposed to be a little different for older folks, more miserable, but less of a throat issue.

I see why college kids fail a semester, it makes you pretty useless.
