They are starting to run out of squirming room on this. Too much testimony that contradicts previous testimony. This royal screw up could bring down quite a few officials.
At least now this has been trickling into the news reports, once something is learned its quite difficult to un-learn it! Any big revelations will catch the general public's awareness now, then it will be quite the show!

Despire his blandishments that long-time officials would not be made scapegoats, AG Eric Holder has announced shake-ups that impact the Fast & Furioys operation and operation Gunrunner.

Attorney General Eric Holder announced on Tuesday that he’s pulling acting Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives director Ken Melson out of his spot.

According to the Justice Department, Melson will take on the role of a “senior adviser” in the DOJ’s Office of Legal Policy.

The shakeup comes in the middle of House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa’s investigation into the controversial Operation Fast and Furious. Melson secretly met with Congressional investigators from Issa’s and Sen. Chuck Grassley’s team on July 4 and provided them with information about the program.

Issa said he’s also “very concerned”after Melson said the DOJ “is managing its response in a manner intended to protect its political appointees.”

Meanwhile, the US Attormey in Arizona responsible for criminal prosecutions of the humrummers has resigned his position in favor of a Holder sycophant.

There are now irrefutable links directly into the Whitehouse:

Newly obtained emails show that the White House was better informed about a failed gun-tracking operation on the border with Mexico than was previously known.
...
The supervisor of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives operation in Phoenix specifically mentioned Fast and Furious in at least one email to a White House national security official, and two other White House colleagues were briefed on reports from the supervisor, according to White House emails and a senior administration official.
...
He identified the three White House officials who were briefed as Kevin M. O'Reilly, director of North American Affairs for the White House national security staff; Dan Restrepo, the president's senior Latin American advisor; and Greg Gatjanis, a White House national security official.

White House received emails about Fast and Furious gun-trafficking operation

How much longer before the cover-up and Obama's dirty hands are indisputably linked to the operation?
Issa and Grassley are like dogs with bones on this, and do not seem to be fazed by the DoJ obfuscation and foot-dragging.

Ooops! Looks like the DoJ cover-up is coming unraveled. Apparently, the people responsible didn't cover their tracks, or their intentions, as well as they thought.

Just hours after the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, federal officials tried to cover up evidence that the gun that killed Terry was one the government intentionally helped sell to the Mexican cartels in a weapons trafficking program known as Operation Fast and Furious.

The revelation comes just days after a huge shake-up of government officials who oversaw the failed anti-gun trafficking program and Congress renewed its demand for more answers.

Evidence Suggests Cover-Up in ATF Scandal, as More Guns Appear at Crime Scenes
Maybe there are enough honorable people left in law enforcement that the truth will actually override the lies.

Of course, the MSM will never touch this and have a hand in the unwinding of Holder and Obama's secret war against gun owners, the 2nd amendment, border interdictions and law enforcement in general.

Even now, we are discovering that more guns are turning up at crime scenes here and across the border.

Also late Thursday, Sen. Charles Grassley's office revealed that 21 more Fast and Furious guns have been found at violent crime scenes in Mexico. That is up from 11 the agency admitted just last month.

Not only do congressional investigators want to "make sense" of details of the operation that allowed more than 2,000 guns to "walk" and later turn up at crime scenes on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border, but they want to known why Hurley -- who knew almost immediately the guns found at Terry's crime scene belonged to Fast and Furious -- tried to "prevent the connection from being disclosed."

We already know that Arizona and D.C. DoJ staff found out early that the "Fast & Furious" guns were killing American agents. So, what did the field supervisors do?

In an internal email the day after the murder, Hurley, and then-U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, decided not to disclose the connection, saying " ... this way we do not divulge our current case (Fast and Furious) or the Border Patrol shooting case."

“The level of involvement of the United States Attorney’s Office … in the genesis and implementation of this case is striking,” wrote Issa and Grassley.

The two claim witnesses have told them that recently reassigned Hurley may have also prevented ATF agents from doing their jobs.

Evidence Suggests Cover-Up in ATF Scandal, as More Guns Appear at Crime Scenes

... and the beat goes on.

Holder knew long ago about this business and lied to congress. Certainly a special prosecutor is warranted to dig into this fiasco, but the AG, who ever they are have enormous amount of dirt on folks inside and outside the goverment and are very hard to bring down (or bring truth to light regarding their actions).

Nixon lost his AG over a cover-up probe that he tried to derail, so I'm not concerned about perceived "power" in the office. The difference today is the lack of an interested and aggressive press; where's Obama's "Woodward and Bernstein?"

Once the "debt limit" BS dies off, maybe this story will get the atention it deserves.

The liberal news networks are treating the Fast & Furious Scandal just like the Acorn
scandal. What Acorn scandal???
---------
I think AG Holder knew about Fast & Furious a long time ago and then lied under oath
to the House of Representatives.
We just need to find a way to prove it.

I hope this destroys Obama's presidency, but it probably won't.

When Obama updates his resume, he should put down "President of the United States/Gun Runner" as his last employment.

Issa is getting the ducks lined up for the special prosecutor. Holder can't investigate himself and he is up to his neck in this dirty business.

There is no need for the special investigation now, there is too much potential political gain to be had from it as we are too close to the election. Watch it get kicked off in the begining of the year so that the hearings are going in the summer, when the news cycle is dry and the Republican's can anticipate more coverage.

There has to be a reason he's not gone already. They could either twist him in the wind and risk him blowing the can wide open, which they won't do or they are going to have to find someone who will backstop the nonsense. The latter is tricky due to the problem of becoming complicit in the affair. Either way, only a special prosecutor will get close to the bottom of it. The only other thing that could be happening is that he is negotiating some kind of deal to get out.

You're right though, he should have been gone after the Black Panthers deal when it was quite obvious that he was lying.

We don't get to see it, but behind the scenes, Issa and Grassley's staffers, which include experienced attorneys, are taking staements, depositions and gathering documents to "paper the file."

When they have finished, and their bosses complete their hearings, the case will be wrapped up for a special prosecutor. This is not going to go away. We just have to be patient.

I think your idea that the new year will see real action is probaly correct. It is still possible that this goes beyong Holder.

I "hope" that will bring real "change" we can all believe in.

I noticed on the news the other day that apparently the DEA was aware and somewhat involved in this program as well. Now, explain to me, how the Attorney General Eric Holder had nothing to do with this yet you have multi-agency co-operation where both agencies are under the same department and directives, and they have to get so much of their wiretaps and surveillance requests stamped by at least the deputy attorney general -- how the heck was he not informed? More importantly, what tells me him and his pro-gun control advisers weren't actually the ones who shoveled this program down the ATF's throat?

I don't think this will ever get as high up as the President -- "they" definitely won't let that happen -- but at the very least, Eric Holder needs to be thoroughly investigated (and not by the very inspector general he appoints) along with his advisers, because if it turns out he was as involved with this as I suspect he was, he'll at the very least be facing perjury charges, due to the nature of his previous testimonies before Congress, with the hearings conducted by Grassly and Issa.

Timing, as we know, is everything. The worst option is to shoot from the hip, pun sort of intended.

Issa, e al, know that the record has to be seamless and incontrovertible. They will toil patiently behinf the scenes; the MSM will try to "wish it away," and the staffers will dig and document until the package is ready to be delivered.

First of the year is not too far off for an indictable record. At that point, there will be no way to avoid the Special Prosecutor.

Meanwhile, dribs and drabs will ooze out as witnesses go on the record.

I'm willing to wait for good things to come.

Holder and his IG will stall as long as they can, but Issa and HGrassley seem to have eyes and ears inside the DoJ who are willing to fill in the details. It is a "piece by piece" process, whereby the DoJ denies X exists, then a witness provides the details of X, and the DoJ responds.

Little by little, they are digging their own political graves.

Obama is a corrupt pig. Not even a human being, but a whiskey drinking pig that lied and conned his way into office.

He's scum. At least Bush was blatant with his garbage. This guy really tries to play it off like he gives a damn about the people, while war mongering, gun running, stealing money, and god knows what else.

Eruption!
Holder briefed by DoJ chief of Criminal Division in 2010!

Although Obama and his DoJ have denied direct knowledge of the gun-walking program, and stonewalled document releases to Congress, newly discovered documents include briefing memos from Dep. A.G. Lanny Breuer to Eric Holder!

New documents indicate Attorney General Eric Holder was informed of Operation Fast and Furious and its investigative tactics in mid-2010.

The new documents show that on November 1, 2010, Deputy Attorney General Lanny Breuer, the chief of the Justice Department’s criminal division, personally informed Holder about the operation in a briefing. The document was a memo Breuer wrote to Holder saying in which he included a brief description of Operation Fast and Furious.

Another document is a July 2010 memo from the director of the National Drug Intelligence Center to Holder that details how “straw purchasers” — enabled by Operation Fast and Furious — were responsible for the purchase of 1,500 guns that were then supplied to Mexican drug cartels.

Reports: Documents show Holder was briefed on Fast and Furious in July 2010

For almost a year now, both Obama and the Attorney General have insisted they had no indication what was gpoing on; all while Mexican and American citizens were dying because of their program. Neither seemed to give a damn that American law enforcement officers' lives wee jeupardized by their scheme to support an anti-gun program in the US.

Holder was suspected of lying to Congress in May when he restified that he had only recently learned of the program.
Holder is now clearly imlicated in perjury before Congress.

In early May, Holder told House oversight committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa that he was “not sure of the exact date [he first learned of Fast and Furious], but I probably heard about Fast and Furious over the last few weeks.”

We know what the AG knew and when he knew it. How long before Obama gets drug further down?

As more documents come to light, the hole gets deeper for Holder, the DoJ and President Obama.
.

Another document released contained internal emails between several high-ranking Justice Department officials asking if Breuer would help with a then-forthcoming press conference on Fast and Furious because the number of guns DOJ and ATF officials allowed to be “walked” into Mexico was significant.

“It is not going to be any big surprise that a bunch of U.S. guns are being used in [Mexico], so I’m not sure how much grief we get for gun walking,” one high-ranking DOJ official wrote in an email.

The CBS reporter who has been following this confirms the WH-orchestrated cover-up by the MSM:

Attkisson also said the DOJ and White House representatives complained that CBS was “unfair and biased” because it didn’t give the White House favorable coverage on the developing scandal.

“Is it sort of a drip, drip. And I’m certainly not the one to make the case for DOJ and White House about what I’m doing wrong,” she added. “They will tell you that I’m the only reporter, as they told me, that is not reasonable. They say The Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, The New York Times is reasonable I’m the only one who thinks this is a story, and they think I’m unfair and biased by pursuing it.

CBS reporter: White House, DOJ reps ‘yelled’ and ‘screamed’ at her over ‘Fast and Furious’ scandal

Read "reasonable" as: "willing to down-play down the story."

See attached:
Bordergate Update! AG's 2nd in Command Briefed in Detail of Operations!

As if there wasn't enough info coming from whistleblowers and Congress, it turns out Obama and Holder's Dept. of Justice are now coming forward with documentation of the extensive, and far-reaching, information provided officials at the highest levels of the dangerously misguided gun running operations in Arizona, Texas and Florida.

Documents recently turned over by the Justice Department to Congressional investigators indicate that then-Deputy Attorney General Gary Grindler received a detailed briefing on Fast and Furious more than a year and a half ago.
"Deputy Attorney General" is the Justice Department's No. 2 figure, directly under Attorney General Eric Holder.
Grindler moved from Deputy Attorney General to a spot as Holder's chief of staff last January.

The briefing Grindler attended was on March 12, 2010, six months into ATF's Operation Fast and Furious, which allowed thousands of weapons on the street in an attempt to track down Mexican drug cartels. Portions of the documents are redacted.

www.cbsnews.com...

Of course, the White House has tried to avoid the implication of knowledge about the program by claiming that these were merely cursory "FYI" notes given no specific attention.

Unfortunately for the Obama WH and DoJ, Holder's 2nd in Command took detailed notes which were included, in part, in the most recent document disclosure.

In handwritten notes about Fast and Furious that are not all legible, Grindler writes about "seizures in Mexico" and "links to cartel." He also noted "seizures in Mexico" on a map of Phoenix, the home base for Fast and Furious, and Mexico locations where some guns ended up. And Grindler made notations on a photograph of several dozen rifles.

Deputy AG received detailed Fast and Furious briefing
