To call someone a nazi, is no different than saying theyre a democrat or a republican, a communist or a socialist...even an anarchist...

why would putting a political party lable on someone be a personal attack?
IF use of the term NAZI is wrong in this instance, than so would be use of any other political "lable"

This is the hair i was talking about being split when they cracked down on the mudpit....EXACTLY what IS and IS not usable verbally...I can call someones post ignorant, but not say they made a STUPID post?

Slank was out of line, but i question the interpretation (as does howard stern) about the definitions of vulgarity, obsenity, and indeceancy...If there is NO list of bad words, than those in power to regulate (or moderate) can essentially "make it up as they go", a seemingly huge opening for "selective interpretations" or even outright abuse,

how would we know IF a mod was abusing this regulatory abillity if slank would not have brought this to the members attention and discussion..(he didnt from what i can tell)..will those in "power" volunteer this info? Again I ask, where is the check and balance? is there an appeal process or can a mod just warn you to death with little worry?
Hiding/silencing issues like these also raises a "cover up" concern. (this is a conspiracy site right?)

Slank clearly made other personal attacks, but come on, calling someone a nazi? any political label should certantly be allowable, even if it was used in error or as a derrogatory term... where are the warnings for calling people liberal democrats, or boot jacking republicans? These have been used as "bad descriptive terms" much like Nazi has. but as there IS a Nazi party, why is use of their name as a descriptive term be bad?

Yup...you are right, we Staff could just 'make it up as we go along', however I would say most of the times we tend not to abuse it. We are however human, so mistakes or personal influence may come in to it...but, guess what, you're gonna get that on ANY Discussion Forum on the internet that has 'staff' *Admins/Mods etc*. Thats reality.

Reality also says: This Forum is NOT a democracy, any 'say' its members have is essentially 'say' that is granted to them...that is reality. Reality is the membership here is free...as such there is no vested financial interest in this site for the greater majority of its members, thus accordingly NO say in how it is run is garraunteed to them. IF someone wants to enter into some business arrangement with ATS, put their cash where their mouth is, THEN perhaps that person may have some 'rights' to dictate what should or shouldn't happen on this Forum.




Again I refer back to reality: The only true say anyone has towards the operation of this site is the operation of their web-browsers 'Close Window' box.

As for an appeal process...people who have been issued Warns should receive a U2U message explaining why they received it. If that person believes the Warn was issued unfairly, then they can either utilise the 'Complaints' link, or send a U2U to an Admin/Moderator voicing their concern. In these cases, these concerns are 'brought before' the rest of the Admins/Mods in the Admin/Mod Forum...they are discussed and IF the Warn is deemed to be unfair, then it is removed an apology is issued along with a creditting of any lost ATS Points back to that member.




Old saying: "Its not what you say, its how you say it". If someone comes at it hard and heavy, demanding x,y,z and using language deemed offensive...then you bet they will be 'silenced'. Why? Coz thats again reality. IF someone leapt in my face and started ranting at me, reality is I would take my fist and dislodge their upper teeth in about 0.3 seconds. To expect people to just sit there and accept a tirade is certainly not reality at all.
