Dude, I still own the Dreamcast version. I can't believe I used to play an FPS with only one analog stick. The strafing in that game was like mastering some exotic art. Loved it.

I know its wrong to laugh at him or attack him for his views but I understand what the guy lawling was getting at. There's a huge difference between people who got their start playing DOOM or Commander Keen and people who got into video games because of that godawful monstrosity known as the Xbox 360. IMO Call of Duty has killed the gaming industry. The same engine, the same concepts, the same gameplay, etc. Almost every major developer does this now, I remember when a game took time, love, and of course, a new or highly upgraded engine to get sales. The Xbox is the reason us PC gamers won't see DirectX 11 in its full glory; the recycled garbage we see on the 360 is going to stick around for another 5+ years based on recent reports and making a new engine has become needless, therefore no need for a new console or PC competition. /endrant

Chernobyl was great but Pripyat manages to fix all the bugs and be truly perfect so if you haven't checked it out keep an eye out on Steam. It is epic

Well I got my start playing the original Sega console, so its not like I dont have an idea what I am talking about. I love the COD series mainly for the fact that its like being in a movie that you're in control of. Very few games prior to this actually had such an in depth and well written story line. As I mentioned before, I based my list on the games that I ENJOYED....not how they revolutionised or made a difference to the gaming industry. Its a personal list and I just wanted to see what other people enjoyed as well.

Why bother commenting to criticise my not forcing anyone to like the same games as me or force them to play them....its completely pointless to even make such pathetic comments

What the hell? It would take 6hours to write a list for you of games worth playing.

I can't just list 25, I want to list 250.

So I have to just complain and not do it.

But I will say, almost all of the games listed in each of your posts are really good and I agree.

However I am dismayed that no one listed the old Nintendo games Pacific Theater of Operations ( I and II), and part IV on Playstation 2. They were made by Koei.

You guys got at least 75% of the rest of the heavy hitters from the last 10 years at least. Most lists are missing older games.

Seeing as I lived through (quite aware) the time between Doom and Half-life (which for me really didn't revitalise or revolutionise the genre as some seem to think it did), I'm sort of biased against FPSes
. Not to say I don't play quite a few and enjoy them, just that they all seem exactly the same.

I'm somewhat of an older gamer, and more of a PC guy (the only non-handheld console I ever owned was a Sega Megadrive 2), so my list would probably reflect that...

Monkey Island 2
Planescape: Torment
The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
Beyond Good & Evil
Fallout 3 and NV together as one (am playing through 2 now, and it has the potential to perhaps beat this one out)
Knights of the Old Republic as a series
the original Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Flashback, Another World
Eric the Unready
Grim Fandango
Kyrandia as a series
maybe Space Quest 4
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
maybe The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Beneath a Steel Sky
maybe the Blood FPSes
Raptor: Call of the Shadows
maybe The Lost Vikings as a series

Anyhow, in no particular order, although the ones on top came to mind easier than the others, and you could probably relegate the "maybes" to a secondary level. It really was hard to come up with 25!

As can be seen (even from my avatar, for those who recognise it
), I'm something of an adventure game nut.
