"Imagine this: A group of researchers off the coast of South Africa were trying to lure great white sharks to their boat when suddenly one them flies out of the water and, plop!, lands in the back part of the boat."

wow...and the main researcher made everyone be quiet as to not stress the shark

talk about a crazy day at work

it's good that these folks were compassionate to the plight of the shark

"Schroeder said her next moves had everything to do with saving the shark. Her team put some jeans over the shark's eyes to keep her calm and immediately began pouring water over her gills to keep her breathing. "

Is this the same one that was posted either yesterday or the day before? Maybe this is another one and its the start of a mass exodus because the water is too polluted...

The shark didn't panic, it breached out of the water which is what they do in SA and just happened to land it the boat by chance.

Would have scared the hell out of them...

Nice job. Well, I hope that next time this shark is near the beach, she gives a surfer a friendly nudge instead of trying to eat him/her.

They were lucky it was such a small one

The great white shark is very well known for its size, with the largest individuals known to have approached or exceeded 6 metres (20 ft) in length

The shark's jump was not a panic reaction. Researches have been studying Great Whites all around the world, but the ones that live in South Africa jump out of the water similarly to whales and dolphins. They have been investigating this behavior for some years now.

"Air Jaws" is a show during Shark Week that shows what you're talking about.
There was another one about killer whales hunting and killing the great whites in the same area also.
IFrom what I remember, first the orca ramms the shark to stun it, gets the shark up-side down to let it suffocate. The researchers said the other sharks pick up on the ramming and scatter till the orcas are gone. They started to follow certain pods after some tourist sent a video to them.
