And a child who attends at least one forth of July celebration in their youth is more likely to grow up and vote Republican.
I'd be curious on the methodology of this study. 'Cause, I'm a socialist, and i live in hairy hippy liberal central, and the fourth of July lasts three days here. I'd wager pretty much every kid in the US has celebrated the 4th. Saying this leads to Republican voting would seem, at the surface, to simply be a FOX news attempt to bolster waning GOP support; either an attempt to say there are tons more Republican voters than the polls reflect, or that anyone who's not voting Republican is some woods-dwelling America-hating hermit who never shot a bottle rocket as a kid.

I agree, if someone's voting is so easily swayed by a flag, there's something loose in their brain-holder. However, given what I know of propaganda techniques, I wouldn't doubt if mushy-headed people had exactly this reaction.

just a little reminder, read the word.
.
In the U.S., battles such as the Battle of New Orleans and the earlier successful defense of Baltimore (which inspired the lyrics of the U.S. national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner") produced a sense of euphoria over a "second war of independence" against Britain. It ushered in an "Era of Good Feelings" in which the partisan animosity that had once verged on treason practically vanished. Canada also emerged from the war with a heightened sense of national feeling and solidarity.
Britain is probably not a good example... They are far more open than us..... Less prudish about the things that so many Americans seem to find so controversial.
So you pledge your allegiance to a piece of material?
Tell you what, I pledge allegiance to toilet paper. All Hail the Great Toilet Paper....hereby known as The Almighty Dunny-Wipes.....
Bloody ridiculous.
I don't believe the study myself.
I think it was FOX news doing what they do best by trying to paint people who do not carry a flag on their person as a terrorist threat to the country. Slight exaggeration only. Remember the flag pin issue? Unbelievable.

The difference between America in 1812 and America now is that back then the dictator-driven Corporation of America hadn't yet come into full swing.

Measuring corruption statistically is difficult if not impossible due to the illicit nature of the transaction and imprecise definitions of corruption.

Your continued references to worship and God are now an attempt at the same propaganda technique as used in the OPs cited article.
Some of us have finally woken up to the fact that our flag has a completely different meaning to the rest of the world. And do you know what? we are ashamed. Our leaders are war mongers, thieves, corrupt and have every intention of taking us to Hell. I would fight for my flag, but I would not fight for any last one of them. I would fight to restore it's meaning of truth and justice. Again, you think it's an unhealthy relationship, and again, you then do not understand what it means to the average American citizen.

Britain, not prudish? They are so uptight that you'd need a tractor to pull a pin out of their ass. They have conceded their society to muslim militants, their legal system to include sharia, and their taxation system is so repressive that you need a license to view a TV in their home. And their nonchalance is not because of sophistication - it is because of resignation to their demise.
