The first of the Wisconsin 14 has survived.

Green Bay state Sen. Dave Hansen, who fled the state along with his Democratic colleagues earlier this year in an effort to block Gov. Scott Walker’s controversial labor law, on Tuesday cruised past a Republican trying to unseat him in the first of the state’s general election recall contests. With 65 percent of precincts reporting, Hansen had garnered 69 percent of the vote, compared with 31 percent for Republican David VanderLeest.

An enormous victory in Wisconsin for the Democratic Party with one of the ‘Wisconsin 14’, the Democrats who fled earlier this year, winning re-election with an overwhelming 69% of the vote against the Republican challenger. The question now become whether or not the other Democrats which also have faced recall elections will hold their seats against Republicans and whether the recalled Republicans can hold their seats against the Democratic competitors. So we still have 2 Democratic incumbents facing a recall election and 6 Republican incumbents facing a recall election.

Should the Democrats hold their seats and pick up the 6 Republican seats in the Wisconsin State Senate then they would take control over that legislative body from the Republicans. But if they fail to win every one of those elections then they will remain the minority party in the state Senate.

The real question begging to be asked here is; When will the American people wake up and drop the the left-right paradigm and realize that they're heads and tails of the same fractional reserve coin?

More waste of taxpayer money on a needless recall election. Of course his district elected him to the post in the first place, Why does anybody think he would not get elected this time?

In the 2008 election he won with around 66% of the vote.

Wisconsin State Senate, District 28 (2008) Candidates Votes Dave Hansen (D) 51,643 Chad Fradette (R) 26,483

If the percentages hold in this election he will have picked up 3%, but I guess we will need to look at the final results and see.

Maybe he does not like Dave Hansen?

Anyways with 99% of precincts in he has finished 66% to 34%, the same as his results were during the last election.
