U.S. to Pull 70,000 Troops from Europe, Asia

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States plans to withdraw about 70,000 U.S. troops from Europe and Asia in a major restructuring of military forces prompted by the end of the Cold War and the beginning of the war on terrorism, U.S. officials said Saturday.

So, what do you think, is it because they are preparing for another war(Iran, NK)?

Yeha, preparing for the endless "in the name of democracy" wars that are yet to come and the heavy loss of life coming and the further destruction of international relations and more foreign resentment.

But besides that, there is not much of a fear these days of a Soviet invasion into Europe. But the truth always been that the only true defense was tactical nuclear weapons as NATO forces were always outnumbered in Europe (aka the Berlin Brigade) as an example.

That news is about 10 years of age
- I wonder when they will actually do what they say. Based on the news the Americans should have no military left in Germany. I assume the Bush administration will finally take the logical step and rearrange the troops.
