An elite team of computer technicians assembled by the Obama administration to protect Pentagon networks from cyberattack shockingly includes a former Clinton official who "lost" thousands of archived emails under subpoena and who more recently left the Department of Homeland Security under an ethical cloud related to her qualifications, WND has learned.

Talk about your resume building moments. Wow! Let's hire that one. Do it quietly though.

The administration in May quietly hired Laura Callahan for a sensitive post at the U.S. Cyber Command, a newly created agency set up to harden military networks as part of an effort to prevent a "cyberspace version of Pearl Harbor."

The move raises doubts about the administration's vetting process for sensitive security positions. In 2004, Callahan was forced to resign from Homeland Security after a congressional investigation revealed she committed résumé fraud and lied about her computer credentials.

nvestigators found that Callahan paid a diploma mill thousands of dollars for her bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees in computer science. She back-dated the degrees, all obtained between 2000 and 2001, to appear as if she earned them in 1993, 1995 and 2000, respectively. She landed the job of deputy DHS chief information officer in 2003.

Previously, as a White House computer supervisor, Callahan threatened computer workers to keep quiet about an embarrassing server glitch that led to the loss of thousands of archived emails covered by federal subpoenas pertaining to multiple Clinton scandals.

Former co-workers say they're shocked that Callahan passed a security background check and landed another sensitive post inside the federal government.

"She's a security risk," said a government computer specialist. "I don't know how she got clearance."

"We're fuming about it," said another federal employee. "Knowing her, I don't see how she could ever be 100-percent honest."

The Defense Department last week revealed it recently suffered a massive cyberattack, even as it announced a new strategy to actively combat online threats to national security.

In March, hackers working for a foreign government broke into a Pentagon contractor's computer system and stole 24,000 files. Previous cyberattacks have been blamed on China or Russia.

If you you read further into the article you will learn about her history of threatening anyone who could expose her errors. She even threatened a worker with jail time if leaked any information.

This is very bad and the WH has some serious explaining to do. I just hope someone asks Jay Carney the question. I'm sure his response will be Ummm Ummm Ummm I dunno.

If you want and hoped for the biggest vulnerability in the system it just might be this. I mean why would you want a super a genius to be in charge.

while "prior dishonesty" is actually good for a fair amount of security related jobs, i don't thing this one works.

hire a old style hacker to deal with computer security issues, an x-car thief for vehicle security, a top notch cat burglar for building security ect. that only makes sense. after all who better to prevent something then someone who has been successful in beating said security systems.

but hey THIS chick wasn't even successful in her crime. i was going to say have her involved with forgery prevention, but ooops, she PAID for her forged documents. so she wouldn't be good for that either.

I HAVE IT, the perfect GOVERNMENT job for her. make her a COOK in a woman's prison. at that point who even cares if she CAN even cook.

i pretty much have to agree with at least one other poster, she would make a great scapegoat, for when they want certain systems done in or ripped off, after paying for her degrees, she probably wouldn't notice that the guy "fixing" her computer right in front of her is actually hacking her system. so it could be nicely placed on her shoulder while obama goes on that he was only trying to give her a second chance. got to really plan ahead don't you? then don't worry about her either. after all "it wouldn't be her fault that she was put in charge of something she didn't qualify for after all". so they can do what they want and no one involved has to realty take the blame.

Fact remains that they have the balls to break a story first. Sometimes they sail, sometimes they don't. The woman's history is no lie nor is the fact that she has been rehired multiple times regardless of her past. How difficult is that to understand?

Just look at the massive breach at the Pentagon where we are suspecting another infiltration by the Chinese.
