Whatever percentage they cut out of social security they need to cut from H.U.D. and the Dept. of Agriculture . Cutting subsidized housing and food stamps would be a good place to start.

Thats a good point.
Now if the HHS could effectively end that subsidy with the addition of ending the tax cuts for those who make over 200k, then they're getting somewhere. I'm of the belief that when there's a financial problem it shoud be addressed from both sides.

I wasn't aware that billions of taxpayer dollars were subsidising programs like that. Then again though, I imagine a large portion goes to things like CHP and programs for kids with no medical insurance. I think that's important. This country's medical system is highly flawed and outright broken.

I think we should give more money to other countries. We already gave out some 70 billion dollars for bases in other countries per year, so why not more Money. MOE- MONEY.
The taxpayer needs more protection. MAKE more bases and tax more and spend more on bases.
WE NEED THIS. This is good for YOU.
Now that your gov't is protecting you better, I think it is time to go outside and take a deep breath of that clean air and put a huge smile on your face every time you go outside. NOW THATS , appreciation for your gov't.

Sorry pal, no such thing as re-fighting because it's always a constant battle and one of the many things I'm fighting here is hypocrisy.

Obama keeps blaming Bush for all the troubles we're in, which I'm sure is due the fact that he rasied the debt limit a few times while.
Ok, fair enough, that's a legitimate complaint but remember Obama promised he would be able to fix it and fix it all.

And just how does he expect to do that?
...by doing the same thing Bush did, but better, that's how.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and
expecting different results. - Albert Einstein

If he keeps doing that then it's only fair to quit blaming Bush.

So the question, who is going to fix Obama's mess(es) and how long will that take?

You want to cut off aid checks -- what kind of country do you really want to live in -- really? just really.

What kind of country do you want to be.

Bring it on.

Why not just crash the whole American economy?

B/c that's what you are talking about when you talk about suddenly cutting off ss, or welfare, or even just food stamps.

YES, cut, cut, cut, and cut them off. Cut states fraud, cut those dirty welfare frauds and SS frauds, cut the medicare frauds, cut environmental fraud programs, cut fraudulent wages, cut waste down, cut housing fraud, cut, cut, cut and more cut. BUT, make sure we send out billions and billions of dollars to help those in other countries we have bases in. Those poor people, they need our help and we get a base too. YOU taxpayers straighten up and help out here. YOUR gov't needs your money, now get on the ball here. NOW, go outside and take a deep huge breath of air and put a huge smile on your face and like it.

I understand your frustration, and I'm not about to argue your partisan politics with you. Like I have been told in the past, if it's that big a deal to me, I can move there, assume citizenship and vote.

Well...it's not that big a deal to me...I'll stay put in the Great Pink North.

However, I am speaking to the nature of your argument, which creates a straw man. As far as I know, Obama has squat to do with welfare cheques to poor Americans. I will point out that he and the federal lawmakers have a whole lot to do with corporate welfare, and I would suggest that is the path to follow if you want to invoke the word.

My concern is that we share a society where a line like "Debt Ceiling: Why Not Cut Off The Welfare Checks Too?" gets a lot of traction with people who are too uninformed to know the difference between State/Provincial and Federal responsibilities. You don't get change by arousing the ditto heads...you just get distraction, and distraction allows for business as usual.

I think you are capable of summoning a better argument to make your point. Ultimately, I probably will disagree with it, but that's why ATS is so much fun, right?

Cutting off food stamps would crash the whole economy? Must be a very large sector of the economy then.

The problem is always going to be the same.

The super-rich, those in the top 2 percent of earners, benefit greatly from the laws and protection of the government, yet they manipulate those laws to avoid paying taxes by burying their obscene wealth and profits in off-shore bank accounts and other dodges.

It never ceases to amaze me, the complete stupidity of people who think they are the "proud working class". You hold jobs that could be replaced by a robot, if it was so desired. Most people posting here would be the first to be cut down if the company you worked for, felt the desire to save more money. They would cut you off, and you would be left looking for more work.

But guess what, there is no more work. You would become a "leech" faster than you can blink your eyes, because you know the first thing you would do is get unemployment, you leech.

Yes, yes.. Everyone that gets a check from the government is "bringing you down". Oh how you suffer the destructive onslaught of the disabled and wayward souls.

You are just some of the most vile people on the face of this earth. I understand that you may be proud to have a job, and are able to support yourselves, but it should stop with your personal pride, and end before you start furthering a class war with the "filthy welfare poor" as you all claim. My oh my, how fast you would become what you hate so much, if the rug was pulled out from under your feet, just like the people you hate. You would be vindictive, deceptive, hateful and extreme. All the while, you'd be blaming the "filthy useless poor", while you start taking unemployment yourself.

The class war has definitely begun. This much is obvious. We are also, quite obviously, going back to war pretty soon.

You are the exact example of the kind of class warfare you think you are fighting. Exactly the type that the Marxist Obamas agitate to provoke more class warfare. You must be very proud.

Oh yes, I must be so proud.

I have to read countless threads full of nitwits, who constantly call poor people "useless leeches" or worse terms. Over and over, non-stop. There is not a single post about the economy that doesn't have floods of this nonsense. I never see anything like my post above, because most people like me, are usually too tired to deal with this crap.

So you go on and on, blaming everything on the "poor". Not realizing that you would become the same thing in the blink of an eye. No one will be there to care or support your efforts.

So go ahead, and you support the destruction of lower middle-class. Everything will be 'fixed' after all the leeches go away.

It's obviously more important that we have battalions of armed forces in every country in the world, and carrier fleets in every sea, ocean, lake and puddle. Clearly that has nothing to do with the drag on the economy. No, it's the stupid lazy poor that are part of the Marxist agitate agenda. They're all going to hit the streets in brown-shirts really soon, you watch. It's coming.

It's not that poor people are leeches. In fact, I believe it's way more complicated than that. Personally, I don't remember blaming things on the poor. The poor are terribly disaffected by an economy created of, by, and for the bankers, and I am definitely not pro Federal Reserve. I recommend Griffin's book,"The Creature From Jekyll Island" to people wanting to understand how our economy has been artificially controlled by a group of mafia private bankers.
No, sir, you are not pinning that one on me. And further, the Democrat Party gets those people to vote for them (if they have time) by telling them they will give them stuff. Look how many people said they voted for Obama because he was going to pay their mortgage and put gas in their cars. Hahaha look now, gas is the highest it's ever been. What a laugh. And those poor people who believed that liar-in-chief are hurting the most. Then they take the govt handout because that is survival for them.
All the while the Obamas and their ilk are stealing from them with one hand and giving with the other. Nice trade off huh.

And that is exactly what Obamarxist wants, for more and more people to be dependent on govt for survival, because that is what Marxism wants, bigger government, more Statism, more govt control. It's communism in the end. That's the goal of Fabian Socialism
Further, I am not for more wars. But truthfully, the communist revolutionaries are some of the most anarchic people on the planet. They will support wars(think Obama in Libya and Afghanistan and Clinton in Kosovo) when it suits them, and anti-war (think Kent State) when it suits them. The ends justify the means for them always.

Also, observe the Code Pink people stirring up revolution in Egypt(yes Medea Benjamin was there spouting her marxist spew), and then coming back home to the States and stirring up revolution at the Jefferson memorial in the name of fighting "fascist police state control".

i dont know where you live, but in my city, 90% of all the welfare recipients are uneducated folk who breed like rabbits to keep their free money.

That is a pretty high percentage of people in a city to be on welfare.
Can you back that up with something?

I see nothing but a lot of factless hyperbole in this thread. How about some reality and checkable facts?
