Keep believing that. No different than the vast majority of lottery winners who don't have a pot to pee in within 5 years or these mega athletes or music stars who blow an fantastic sums of cash.

What would most of the folks do with their money? Blow it. Where would it go? To companys where they bought all of their crap. What do companies do with money? Invest it in markets.

Its all full circle.

How many folks, given the $200K would quit their jobs? Tens of thousands. How many would toss the $200K down on a $1M house? Tens of thousands

Within 5 years 80% of these folks would be in debt, borrowing from the banks.

I take it you have not had the pleasure of attempting to make use of many of these "benefits". Good for you. IF you had, you would change your tune.

Walk a mile in my shoes, then say that again.

Rather than jump on at the end of a 500 post thread, perhaps you should do a bit of reading of what folks are saying prior to taking things out of context.

We the average and the rich should not pay more taxes.

The 1% that owns 99% of our nations wealth (the ones that are untouchable) should pay a LOT more in taxes.

Now that is fair redistribution of the wealth, you do not get that powerful without being a crook.

WRONG!

But thanks for trying!

They rich obviously need to be taxed a lot more.

But it doesn't have anything to do with them being a crook, it is not punitive.

It is simply a fundamental part of capitalism.

While most poor when living in homes are usually around 1200-1500 sq ft. While middle class Europe homes average 976 sq. ft. Smaller then most peoples apartments

While the facts are correct, you seem to leave out the fact that there was a real-estate bubble that caused every bit of this. In other words CREDIT given to people to build something that later would not be worth the cost of building it. And namely most of these are now empty or being rented out.

it is easy to pull out facts and make an argument, try putting the facts into context. None of that was real wealth, or assets. Matter of fact the decline in home prices (ie. all the empty NICE homes) made the cost of these homes even cheaper. Whats more, is our grandparents were able to pay cash to build their homes, how many of us can do the same?

I know of no poor family living in a 2700 square foot home, btw. And I sure know a lot of poor people. These statistics are very questionable. Are you sure they weren't comparing a small geographic area?

Don't look for small businesses to add "extra shifts" anytime soon. All you social entitlement proponents who were all over the new healthcare law are to thank for this. They will work the hell out of what they have so they don't have to hire new and face the new taxes that come with the new law.

I'm so sick and tired of the have-nots whining about spreading the wealth. Tough s**t! Make your OWN money and leave mine alone! Why should I work hard, pay for my own education so I can make more just so some lazy ass can demand they are entitled to some of it because they are too lazy to do the same? Sorry, but that dog don't hunt! You can call me whatever you want, but I earn my money and I intend to keep it! I don't give to charity unless 100% goes to the intended recipient. I have bought food for homeless people because giving them cash promotes drug/alcohol consumption and NOT nutrition. You want the state to take care of you then move to another country like Cuba and have at it!

Yes, because all poor people are poor just because they are lazy. There are no other possible reasons for a person to not own a house.

Ladies and gentleman, apparently, whether or not you are a scumbag, depends on whether or not you own a house.

So for all you lazy people who got laid off at a bad time. All you lazy people who are mentally ill to the point that they cant keep a job. All you lazy people who work harder than anyone else just trying to survive...

You better get a roof over your head or else you are just a horrible person....

/sarcasm over

Oh and dont worry, I have a home, so I am not a scumbag and my opinion is still valid.

and after a period of time we need forced labour...i am serious, too many people stay in welfare mode (especially true in europe) because there isnt (any) pressure on them...

How many "poor" people do you know that own a yacht that traffic drugs into the country?
How many "poor" people do you know that own casinos?

None because they are poor...

How many gun shops do you see in nice neighborhoods? None
How many liquor stores do you see in nice neighborhoods? None

The rich contribute to the standards of the poor...

Home ownership has been the biggest scam sold to American's for decades. A house is a losing investment unless you can purchase it out right and amounts to a poor savings vehicle.

Many of the rich don't own their homes, even successful small business owners don't own their homes. They are owned by family trusts, real estate trusts, and the like. Only the lower middle and middle class have sucked into the bromide about home ownership being the dream. Or that the size of your living space has anything to do with the quality of live.

Anyone who thinks like living in a 2,700 SFT rambler in some crappy US city has a better quality of life than someone living in 800-sqft in Paris or Rome is out of their minds.

Having owned 5 homes and looking to sell one at the moment, I will never buy another one. Renting is simply by the numbers and by quality of life a better investment.

I dont think saying the rich contribute to the conditions the poor face is exactly fair. While im not usually for blaming the victim none of those things would exist in poor neighborhoods if there wasnt a niche for them. These people see a need build a store and reap the benefits. People in the where where the store is do not have to use them. Also I live in a area in the inner city where the community has run stores that cause problems out of the area or made it harder for them to stay open late etc to prevent crime. The problem is the people within these communities not the people that build businesses in them. Oh and to say that none of those businesses exist in rich areas is ridiculous of course they do. They just look nicer.

While we're throwing around questionable statistitics, let's try these:

Most of the rich cheat on taxes.

Most of the rich have offshore tax havens to avoid taxes.

Most of the rich do business with enemies of this country in paticular and enemies of humanity in genral..

Most of the rich employ illegal aliens.

Most of the rich own four or more wasteful vehicles.

Most of the rich never raise, and barely see, their own offspring, leaving their care to nannies.

Most of the are extremely ignorant of real life outside their bubble.

Most of the rich bribe politcians, police and judges and are therefore solely responsible for corruption.

Most of the rich do drugs, both at work and play: coc aine, xanax, vicodin, oxycontin, viagra, uppers, downers, mood alterers...the list is huge, and the drugging is constant

Most of the rich break some sort of financial, environmental, employment, or safety laws, making them the proportionately the largest criminal class in the country.

Most of the rich tie up most of the resources wastefully.

Most of the rich make the decisions that poison both directly and indirectly everyone else, whether it is fracking, spreading toxic dispersants, pesticides, or stealing the nation's wealth in secret.

There's probably more truth to those assertions than what's true about the stats given about the poor.

I said 2700 sq ft. was average size American home. 1200-1500 if you were poor and living in a home, and yes in places such as East St. Louis,IL and places in midwest where there are homes that are under 40K at that size. You can be poor and own a home. Not everyone is over paying for real estate like the west coast. There are places in midwest where the real estate bubble never hit.

Property ownership is a myth. You only really own it when you sell it an collect the money, even if your property is paid off you still pay rent on it in the form of property taxes.

Actually most poor people are created because they get sick and have no healthcare but none of these selfish people want to believe that! They will continue to have their conservative views and they are entitled to them and
maybe someday they will find out they were wrong if say god forbid they get sick or lose their job. I am tired of trying to explain why our country is so messed up and blaming the poor and imigration will never make life any better for the rest of us! Even though Welfare was abolished in 96 they still like to play that card! If they see an arguement they can't throw a wrench of unsupported or ancient data they will ignore it. Even though i am no liberal cause i don't support the nanny state they will still call me one! I don't blame rich people for exploiting the system
but there is more to blame on that side of the issue then the poor who i believe just happen to be stuck in a bad situation! The real blame should be put squarely where it belongs on the system that created such an imbalance
in the classes but until that day comes do what you want cause i'm done with this thread!

Here is the answer I have been giving to this for years now.

The total TARP welfare-for-banks payout was large enough that a check for 200,000.00 could have gone out to every citizen in the United States over the age of 18. Yes, two hundred thousand dollars.

The economy would have been rocking within 3 months. People would have paid off debts, credit cards, mortgages, car loans, started small businesses, paid off college loans, put kids in college, paid for health needs, bought homes, cars and appliances etc etc.

The banks would have hated this though because it would have robbed them on the billions in interest they have been sucking up from the consumer. See, that's the problem. The less able people are to completely pay off bank loans the longer the banks can collect interest on the loan. So if you ever wonder if there is a conspiracy to keep people grindingly poor in the U.S. - yes there is - and that is the reason.

What about all the defalts on loans if we had that money there would be no defalts and yes the economy would be rocking for a little while. though like i said before the elitist, TPTB or whatever you want to call them dont want us to recover, They did this to curb consumption and for the first time in years there is an excess of crude. Also oil was at 147 dollars a barrel and now what is it like 90 dollars a barrel, so right there that just shows us it worked.
You should read the post i wrote 2 back from yours!

If you really look back on comments here, and on similar threads you can see the pattern. Jealousy of people who have money, pure and simple. Doesn't matter how they got it. People will always treat those who have more as the bad guy. Let's look at Bill Gates. Mega wealthy and gets bashed for having it. Even though he never graduated college his is a villain. Yet most do not know that to date he has given $26B to charity. Yes, that's right 26 Billion dollars of HIS money. Now I don't really care for him or his products, but you have to respect the man that has given that much money to charity. I would venture to guess that anyone here who managed to make over $1M dollars would NOT give most of it to charity. In fact, they would feel themselves vilified if anyone talked about them like you do on this board.

Anyone can be a millionaire. Yes, anyone. It all has to do with managing your money. If you want it bad enough you will find a way to make it. If you don't then it's your fault, and there are no excuses, no scapegoats, nothing. When a career waitress and single mother can amass multimillions then anyone can do it. Here's a novel idea, instead of blaming those with money for your situation, pull up your big boy pants and make your own. I'm not wealthy, but I am doing ok. I am 47. By the time I retire I will have over $1M in the bank, regardless of what financial mess comes down the pike. Why? Because all my life I have put money away. I have lived within my means. If I didn't have the cash to buy something, I went without until I had saved enough to get it.

I am sick and tired of people whining about the wealthy. Are there bad people that are wealthy? Sure are just as there are poor people who are bad. Are there greedy rich? Of course, but there are also greedy poor. Do some of the wealthy use other people? Sure, but so do poor people. Are there tax breaks for the wealthy? Yup, just like there are credits for income not earned for the poor. You see, we are not so different than they are. If given the opportunity to take advantage of a given situation, you will just as the wealthy do.

Stop whining about what other people have and start worrying about yourself. This is the lesson that needs to be learned. As long as the government can keep you focused on what you do not have, they win. It divides us, always has. A house divided cannot survive. you want to take back control of the country? Then stop fighting about who has more, or who is mommy's favorite and band together for the common good. There will alwyas be the have's and the have nots, there will always be class warfare, there will always be those who feel the rich should take care of the poor. Take care of yourself, look out for number 1 and stop blaming those with money for your misfortune.
