I agree with most of what you said. Both parties are to blame for raiding the Soc. Security coffers.

However the Boomers didn't put enough into the Social Security and Medicare system to cover what they are going to get out of it. Same thing happened with the original generation of Social Security and Medicare recipients. They lived far longer than anticipated, paid in some but not enough to cover all they got out of those programs. Luckily they had the Boomer Medicare and Social Security taxes to cover that, with such a larger Boomer workforce than the Seniors.

Nowadays the workforce numbers won't cover up the shortfall that is going to happen with the Boomers hit full force on Medicare and Social Security.

It sure didn't help that the Politicians raided those programs to cover other expenses.

Slightly off topic, but...why is everyone surprised? Does anyone believe that taxes, specified on a particular product or service actually have anything to do with that product or service? Take a look at the tax on cigarettes (as one simple example). In Pennsylvania, a carton of cigarettes is taxed at $13.50 (and a carton can cost $50). A significant portion of that tax goes to insuring, uninsured children. Granted...a worthy use of taxes...but the lie is that cigarettes are taxed BECAUSE smoking tobacco costs the state/government money. Every tax is simply dumped into the mix and they can use that money for anything they want.

A refreshing, revamping of the system would be to tax products/services that do cost the state/government/people money, but only enough to cover the cost. But then, the tax labeled WASTEFUL GOVERNMENT SPENDING would be such a shock, that a revolution would occur quite quickly.

Again...quite simply...they are all liars, and we are the fools. And THAT should piss you off!!!

PS: Back on the cigarette example...if a PA resident were to grow tobacco and roll a carton of cigarettes for personal use...legally...they are required to pay the same $13.50 tax. Not that it would be easy to enforce...but that is the way the law is written.

It wasn't 2 trillion that they lost. Actually, our debt WAS $2 trillion before Obama, and now it is probably $15 trillion, since they "lost" $13 trillion.

In the following video a senator is asking questions to the inspector general of the Feds about where $9 trllion dollars have gone, which dissapeared within 8 months, as well as other monies of about $2trillion which was added to the portfolio of the Feds, but the inspector general of the Feds admits, without saying in specific of course, that NO ONE is supervising what the Feds is doing with our monies...



In this one Greenspan admits the Feds is above the law and it answers to no one... The part where he admits this is at about 7:46 in the video.



Here is a good video of several interviews done to senators and other people who have studied the Feds and know what it is about and that it is privately owned.



The following video is from 2007 where Ron Paul was advising against what the Feds where doing and that it would cause inflation and devaluation of the dollar.

Well if this happens I would like to be part of a revolution. Because there are going to be many people that arent going to be able to pay theyre mortgages and rent. We need to rise above, mass up somewhere and take our stuff. lets all stop paying our taxes!!!!!!!

I have worked for over 40 years. I earned my social security, and guess what?, I still pay taxes on the social security.

You know what I get sick of hearing. That is't NOT OBAMA's FAULT, Bush left him with all of this mess and Obama is just having a hard time. I think that was all a part of the plan. The American people are "enablers", by covering up for this guy and making excuses for him simply because he's black and they don't want him to fail. .... the "Intragovernmental Holdings" is the amount that the Social Security and Medicare trust funds are "owed" by the general fund.

The Treasury can redeem those by selling new bonds into the market in a 1:1 ratio and if they do so they now have dollars in an exactly equal amount.

That's $4.6 trillion dollars.

Note that Social Security even with several million out-of-work taxpayers not contributing into the SSA pool of funds ...still has an accumulated $4.6 Trillion dollars in it...

How much is Social Security and Medicare every year? That's easy - we can look at the Trustee report, which says that in 2010 the total expenditures were $1.235 trillion.

Note that these funds also receive tax monies and in 2010 they took in $1.267 trillion.

Wait a second...... they took in more than they spent? Indeed, which means that the only reason the Treasury has a problem in the present tense is that they have been stealing the tax revenues and replacing them with yet more IOUs.

So, even with a giant group of unemployed who are (temporarily) not paying into the system
(the 17 week average of the past is now up to 49 weeks average during this banker/financier created downturn)

the present status quo reveals that the system is still solvent and reaping a profit...
profits that are being siphoned off by politicians (under lobbyst pressure) into self serving projects and misc expendentures to feather their retirement nest eggs and after term employment opportunities and speaker fees



all the slick cons in our government are seriously skewing the data, news, facts to create the Entitlement Bandit as the culprit for the 'debt' crisis...

If Social Security is not paid out it's because its prioritized that way. plan and simple

Oh there is a lock box but all that's in there is an IOU! SSI was designed as a pyramid scheme by FDR cause
he figured that there would allways be more money coming in then going out and they could just spend the excess revenue from this fund. So this is what our government has been doing for over 75 years and the truth is
our government has spent every penny of it and all thats in that lock box called SSI is a piece of paper saying we owe you 2.6 trillion dollars. If every american acted with their funds like our government representitives we would all be bankrupt but because our government don't think of the US budget as anything but monopoly money we have deficit after deficit. Welcome to tyranny at it's worst people and be prepared to be oppressed to the end of time or our lives which ever comes first!

There are some on ATS that would say that I had wasted that time, that I should have been focused on my future. It is those same people that claim there is nothing sinister going on in the world. There is no boogeyman, the world and the United States is the way it is because we all wanted it this way and our representatives did mostly what we asked them to.

I reject that notion that we wanted it. We have been conditioned since birth to accept the world for what it is.

Though we did'nt want it this way, I'm sorry to tell you this but we are all responsible for it, for not finding out sooner, for not doing anything now but talking about it and eventually after it collapses for not picking up the pieces but instead either hiding in the dark or running around killing, stealing and maiming others. I never heard or thought such a thing, I was not taught that in school, and was even told as a child that it would probably no longer exist by the time I reach retirement age.

I just am confused about who has been telling these lies, and must have missed it (which happens often!)

America, as a whole, is one big scam. Everything, from the DMV to taxes, is ONE BIG LIE. It's amazing how much you learn, AFTER school. I mean, what's the point of wasting 12 years of schooling, only to find out, everything they taugh was ONE BIG FAT LIE? I see why i slept my way through school. I just didn't see the point, so there was no need to pay attention. And yet, i still graduated.

If you think about the history of America, not much has changed; they just painted it a different color. Instead of using ball n chains...they use a work schedule. And now, we have the wonderful world of credit; which is destroying our way of living.

BTW....there is no law saying you HAVE TO have a J.O.B. You can always do freelance work. Odd jobs, here and there. And, driving is not a "privelege" it's a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT. Also known as: "The Right to Travel". Research it...and be AMAZED at how they B.S. us! I gave up my D.L.; they can have it. My bike works just fine!

With a Congressional confession like that, any tax attorney should have no problem in defending your inclusion of the social security tax within the bounds of the 'tax withheld' bracket.
