Yes I've been quite disgusted for many years now.
One way that might possibly remind the government about their spending and the power of people would be for the American people to all become independent contractors.
I have for almost 20 years now cut a check to the US treasury to pay my taxes, all of them. Being self employed means no withholding from every paycheck. I usually pay quarterly but make sure that I always owe on April 15.
I will not allow the government to us my money ,interest free, during the year I make my payments. So I don't get refunds. Personally I believe if everybody had to literally cut a check every year for thier taxes, we as a nation would not be in this mess. People would have a more vested interest in seeing how thier blood and sweat (labor) is really put to use. Not to mention being penalized for being independent by also paying a self employment tax. Also everybody would see all of their SS payment's and not just the half that is taken out on their check stubs.
This is in no way meant to sound derogatory to any of those who have withholding and get refunds every year. It is just my belief that nobody should be getting refunds. Refunds are nothing more than being over taxed for the previous year and then getting some of it back ,interest free, if you lived your life according to government mandates (i.e. tax rebates).

If everybody would go to their employers tomorrow and demand to be paid as an independent contractor the government would have no choice, in theory, but to get the nations financial house in order. They would have to wait until April 15 of next year to get any money from the taxpayer's. I would be willing to bet the true colors of our elected officials will truely shine thru as to how they really view the american people if that were to happen.

Perhaps it is nothing more than a pipe dream but I believe that might just be the way to force the govermnent to control its spending. It would be a revolution everybody could be involved with and still be home in time for American Idol or whatever mind numbing distraction that happens to be in vogue.

I said this efore in posts..i cannot imagine why its ok for our greedy self centered selfish government too not make payments on time, send OUR tax money overseas, including corporations, and yet they cannot balance thier own checkbook...no wonder. if it was you or me, the taxpayer, they take away our possessions..our government does it, they cheat and expand* somethings DEF wrong.

The secretary of treasurys, starting as far as ive learned, Donald Reegen, at the time the highest payed CEO for meryl lynch bank, under or controlling president reagen* should NOT have been allowed in office or iffice seat. the whole cheating, money laundering scandals they got invovled with seem to have started since 1980...along with hiring complicated mathmeticians, hired by wallstreet, to come up with unsolvable formuals, (derivitives) to screw the american taxpayer out of thier home, car, and god knows what else. Greenspan is another...throught the 80's, telling people yuor home is an investment, you need to invest it here..but the fine print...we can take yuor home and kick you out at any time we feel, usually if you miss a payment* and they can get you even if they were the ones mailing the bill late* thats the system we live in today...broken promises designed so you loose anyway or end up payming a quarter to half more than what whatever it was, was worth...APR rates/interest*
Indeed, i wonder if Israel, or china, or womever else took money from our government, (US basically) if they pay any taxes or interest at all>? so, even as a kid, in the 80;s, teen in the 90's, my father would tell me about social security..the government is trying to keept he money* he thought one day theyde do away with it. he never went into specifics or anything..that i did on my own reaserch later in life. the day our governemnt, cannot afford to pay for its own children, brothers,a nd sisters, the peope who truely make this country, what it is, the best in the world, is the time forward they are against us, and are only interested in themselves.
We all know, the CIA has engaged in illegal drug trafficing for money, presidents have done illegal things too, nixon with watergate for starters, clinton with NAFTA--now were stuck with that highway to mexico thier simply gunna allow illegal immigrants it seems, to flood in and take our jobs and homes away. with a system like this, yuo cannot belive anything the president let alone had of FBI is belivable at all...its all a puppet show, or more like the pide piper...government plays its flute while we are the rats, being led to our deaths, ends..

It is funny that this thread came up just now, as I was just conversing on this very topic with my husband. If you are on the verge of bankruptcy how do you continue to spend money? Do they just make more? where is the money coming from? I really don't know

If there is going to be any more money handed out, an equal amount of said funds ought to be divided up and disbursed to all registered voters, who actually voted.

This way people would be encouraged to get out and vote, and it might help those who want to make a different do so.

Of course, I am probably w a y off my rocker for thinking such, and even more so for voicing it in a public forum. But what the hell, that is what collaborate discussion is about.



Besides, it is about time the people had a freaking bail out. Increased taxes and prices consumer good and food stuffs is asinine. While senators and congress get automatic raises that they could vote down but never do, we the people have no such compensation for the costs of living.

Well, if you were the Pres or Congress, and YOU wanted to crash the economy and cause chaos in your country, what would YOU do?
1) keep spending the money to raise the debt levels
2) keep wars going to transfer taxpayers dollars to select company owners
3) allow companies to outsource jobs thereby eliminating jobs at home
4) increase spending on social programs to breed out a good work ethic
5) create artificial stock Market crashes to reduce wealth in the middle crash
6) allow banks to be deregulated and loan to anybody creating a bubble - then pop it
7) script fights between political parties to distract sheeple

And therefore I cannot understand how anyone can still ask the question WHY our government is taking the path that it is taking,...

It isn't so much the spending (though that does have to be reigned in) as it is not collecting enough to pay the bills. If it hadn't been for the Bush tax cuts, and the wimpy Dems allowing themselves to be blackmailed into extending them, we wouldn't be in trouble today. In debt? Sure, but not in trouble. But I can't just blame it on Bush.

This sounds like a repeat thread. THE MONEY IS SPENT ON YOU. GOT IT!!! And the money you borrow or rather owe comes mainly from the USA but 1 trillion comes from China. 900 billion from Japan, 350 million from UK.

You need to have a proper political debate at your next presidential election There is no point complaining about mis-management Jesus you didn't say that when you were literally throwing billions into the "reconstruction of Iraq". Anyway you are supposed to live in a democracy and vote for candidates you want to run or mis-manage your country.

The ratings agencies are running out of patience and if you are not careful you could end up like Greece but 10 times worse. If they down rate your ability to pay rating from AAA your taxes wont go on fighting wars or social security or schools it will go on paying off interest payments like what used to happen to third world countries in the 80s.
