Gotta love it! Cammo toad!

Look how perfectly he blends in. No wonder it took a while to find one to photograph.

The first pic, the rainbow guy, is a toad...bumpy, dry skin, football shaped eyes. Don't need to be near water, and have few predators because they emit stinky stuff.

Second pic, the blue one, is a frog. Shiny skin kinda looks slimy, have to be near water, have lots of predators. Can be extremely toxic/poisonous.

Both are cool!!

Nice refreshing post, OP!!

Who doesn't love toads. Where has that one been hiding. Or has nobody bothered to look since the first guy saw it?

In the post above, Sonoran Desert Toad must be near water. They drink by soaking up water through their skin. They burrow into tunnels into the desert and hibernate until a storm comes along and fills up the pond. Then they wake up and come out and mate and eat and when the water goes away they burrow down and hide again. If there is year round water, then they do not burrow.

I am so glad someone posted this. Thanks OP! I read this yesterday and it made me feel good to think with all the doom and gloom preaching nowadays, that life will find a way. You think something is dead are gone but it's still kicking.

Does anyone have a link to the top ten list? I'd be curious to read about the other frogs/toads that we are looking for and when humans last saw them.

Haha. Sounds like some people's idea of heaven.

I love the pic of the blue frog. I have to admit though that its coloring alone would make me want to pick it up.

Just be careful which one's you touch. Some of them are deadly even to the touch if they ever release their deadly toxin from the skin

Ofcourse nature and its vast diversity is simply mind boggling and beautiful

Wow, this is very cool. I wonder how many more species of various land and sea creatures that exist that we currently do not know about.

SnF for the find!

So is this toad so colorful because of camouflage or because it's poisonous? Cool find. Hopefully we can get DNA samples at least so that even if their habitats disappear, we will have something left.

Here are the top ten "most wanted", according to the FBI, check, Conservation International, link provided by harlot7 earlier:
