So this man has found a loop hole. He will be acting as his own attorney, and will be questioning his victims. While in jail he will also be allowed to watch child porn, and his own rape video while in jail. Now, i thought the point of jail was that prisoners would hopefully learn something about the crimes they committed, and hopefully come to some state of remorse and repentance, i thought that was the general idea...

He will be sitting alone in a cell, wanking to his own rape video, and will be in the cell, because of the rape video. If he ever gets out, as if he wont become a repeat offender.

This is just wrong on so many levels....

What do you propose?

He has the right to represent himself and because of that he needs access to the evidence. You don't know what he is going to be doing for a fact, maybe he will be watched to make sure he doesn't do anything inappropriate.

“We don’t like it,” Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said. “We don’t want to do it, but we have to follow the law. The fix here is to change the law.”

I do not like where that thought could lead us to. Theres no reason this man cannot act as his own attorney, but I can understand how the situation can make people very uneasy. Especially seeing as he'll have contact with his accusers/victims, but it is the law. Watch him closely, but do not jump to change the law that allows citizens to act as their own attorneys..

I'm sure he will be monitored constantly to prevent anything bad happening.

I wouldn't worry too much about this.

Something just doesn't seem right. The cases that usually ruffle feathers are ones where someone is abusing the law, aka, police violence, lady growing veggies in her yard, ect. This is one where some of you are getting roused to change the law to fix the loophole that will allow this delinquent to review movies that he has already watched hundreds of times. I see where the moral outrage comes from, I actually had to sit back for a second and think about this, but A) he is representing himself, I have little doubts he will be acquitted. In fact, I think that the only reason he is doing this is because he is guilty as hell and wants to ruffle some feathers with the chance of mistrial B) jails and prisons do not take to kindly to Sex Offenders

I think no one should change any laws, if all sex offenders got caught and wanted to watch their kittie-porn collections by following this loophole, and then spend the next good chunk of life off the streets, I say let em have it.... the damage has already been done.

He does not have unlimited access to child porn, but only access to child porn that is part of the evidence in the case while the trial lasts. That makes sense to me.
