very sad.

No, not exactly. The Republicans are not even cooperating with him and are acting like children. Why must this man be beaten down because he walked out when someone else was acting like they're 5 years old?

I personally don't blame Obama. Either way, both Parties need to come to a plausible solution soon...and quickly.

Nonsense! You're entitled to your opinion, but not your own set of 'facts'.

1) When the Democrats controlled both Houses in Congress with huge majorities they did not submit a budget for what's going on 2.5 years. In violation of the law.

2) It's the Republicans that have submitted multiple budget proposals....not the Democrats. And surely not Obama.

Oh...that's right. Obama finally submitted one in January and the vote against it was 97-0.

Not ONE Democrat even voted for it.

I don't see why he's opposed to larger spending cuts and no tax increases. Seriously, even under the Clinton administration there wasn't tax hikes and massive spending and our economy was in excellent shape. I might send a can of peas to the Whitehouse.

Excuse me, please?

How does raising the debt ceiling [raising the limit on the credit card] send any message that you're supposed to "live within your means"? Maybe you meant something else perhaps?

I say call his buff. He's a loser....even with the sycophantic MSM trying to spin it differently.

Did you know that Governor Dayton (D) Minn., has agreed to end the government shutdown? After two weeks.

It's on Drudge, but you won't find it being reported in the criminal enterprise known as the MSM. The overwhelming majority of Americans are with the Republican mindset and what does President Obama say?

When told that only 23% of Americans agreed that raising the debt limit was a preferred route, he said that Americans are too busy with their lives to worry about National debt limits....IOW, we're too ignorant to know what's best for us.

Any room that Barack Obama walks into in Washington, he's the least experienced and least knowledgeable in the room.. Remove the teleprompter and he's Chance the Gardner....bending over himself trying to not expose his anti-American Marxist soul.

Sorry for the rant.

I am amazed at how knee-jerk some people are.

He left because the GOP said they weren't going to compromise.

The GOP isn't giving ANY concessions in this. The tax breaks for the wealthy are the sacred cow and they aren't going to budge. Whereas Obama has agreed to cuts in spending. Cuts in spending at a time when the economy is in danger of slipping back into the recession. It's a terrible compromise on Obama's part, but even so, the GOP isn't going to give on theirs.

I'm amazed at the number of millionaires and private jet owners and fund managers that post here. Because those would be the only people affected by the Bush tax cuts ending.

OR, it could just be that people just want to hate Obama and they use this argument as a "me too" to include them in the argument. Lazy AND lame...

Except for the gov's cook, driver and gardener or course, Dayton wouldn't survive 20 minutes without servants, it's all he's ever known.

Both sides are posturing and flexing, and still getting paid by the way, but neither will back down.

Myself, I love it and hope it goes on longer. It's the only way the people will get mad enough to actually take matters into their own hands.

Viva La Revolution.

Bejesus!! You talk like an anarchist.

I hear, former Minnesota governor-Republican, Tim Pawlenty, is in hot water in the presidential run-up.

"Pawlenty faces scrutiny over how the the state is trying to close a $5 billion deficit that the state finance department says is largely the result of holes left by Mr. Pawlenty's final budget."

"Pawlenty's critics say his record: Was an overreliance on one-time accounting maneuvers that failed to address the underlying problems."

I'll take anarchy over apathy any day of the week.

Both sides are to blame equally. They have been making deals with special interests and passing it on to the next guy to pay for it for years.

We borrow 42 cents for each dollar spent this year, we can't fix that with tax increases on the rich alone, we need to cut. But neither side wants to risk upsetting the lobbyists, so they just sit and buffer like a bad media file.

Something needs to jar them back to reality.

I'll probably get chastized for this, but I can't blame him and I can't stand the guy.

It must be frustrating to be in a meeting in which you are trying to resolve an extremely complex issue and someone keeps interrupting you, you being the SUPERIOR in the room, so that you can't finish a complete thought so someone can understand where you are coming from.

In all honesty, I think Cantor was being tactical. He didn't want others in the room hearing what Obama had to say in its entirety because he may have swayed some people.

Also it was pointed out that Cantor kept interrupting while Obama was trying to close the meeting. So it wasn't like he walked out in the beginning or middle of if like Cantor did the second tax hikes were mentioned. The meeting was already coming to an end but Cantor wouldn't let the PRESIDENT finish.

You don't have to like or agree with the President of the United States, but you sure as hell have to respect him if you are his subordinate when it comes the hierarchy of the government.

Cantor has something like $15,000 in shares "shorting" the bond market.

I know, that doesn't sound like a HUGE incentive to screw the American public and not raise the debt ceiling -- but I figure, with a guy like Cantor and other Republicans, they have no incentive to do the right thing unless it makes them a buck.

The DISINCENTIVE for Cantor, is that if they can screw up the economy enough, they have a chance to put some screwball like Bachmann or some crook like Mitt Romney.

It's really saying something when a candidate like THIS ONE doesn't even stand out from the "The Rent is Too Damn High Party".

Obama has the right idea! And I think Obama has the right idea because if the united states has to sell some of its patents we could pay off the debt. Didn't Ben Rich state that the united states already has the technology to journey to the stars but that it would take an act of God for it to ever benefit humanity. Well Obama is the act of God we are all looking for. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray for Obama!!!!!!

And why should they, after the Dems paraded about talking about how we have to pass bills to see what's in them even when we knew it was all just a marxist nightmare no one really wants but them. No need for compromise with the devil.

By the way, nice job on the Fabian socialist Democrat talking points on Marxist class warfare.

Actually the tax-cuts would also affect the people who work on the plane because if the tax is increased on the rich then they won't buy the plane and if they don't by the plane guess who's out of a job? The people who clean and maintain the proper function of the plane!

Cantor exaggerated about what happened to make himself look better and he got to the press first with his version. That does not make it true and it is disputed firstread.msnbc.msn.com...

Democrats dispute Cantor’s version of events. One Democratic aide said Cantor’s story was overblown. “For someone who knows how to walk out of a meeting, you'd think he know it when he saw it. Cantor rudely interrupted the president three times to advocate for short-term debt ceiling increases while the president was wrapping the meeting.”

It seems that the meeting was ending when the President left and Cantor, in a fit of indignation, wanted to make him look bad to the press. This is Washington, D.C. politics and just more political grandstanding by Cantor. No surprise there.

Declare the entire debt to the Fed a meaningless number, KILL THE FED, and then start printing new money made by and for the American people, as a measure of economic exchange. It's all about PERCEPTION and confidence, nothing more.

I like that idea. Let the Fed deal with the mess they made in the American people's names and without their permission or knowledge.

The 'cuts' that Obama is proposing are spread over TWELVE YEARS!

They screwed Reagan with shenanigans....fool me once!

All cuts must be immediate.

which bonds is he shorting?

which "shares" are short in bonds?

is it a fund? or a gold market?

where can i find out exactly what Cantor or Obama has?

Obama doesn't need any help to make himself look bad, that is one thing that he has excelled at.

It seems that the meeting was ending when the President left and Cantor, in a fit of indignation, wanted to make him look bad to the press. This is Washington, D.C. politics and just more political grandstanding by Cantor. No surprise there.
