Basically what's happening is that Republicans are acting like children and won't cooperate with the President unless they get what they want.

Obama has tried to reason with them and inform them "No." Their solutions won't work. But do they listen? Of course not.

The 2010 elections were about creating jobs in the future and what did we get? A bunch of wacky conservatives who want to whine over the oh so evil same sex marriage or prohibiting funding to a health organization that provides basic health care services to Americans who aren't insured (Planned Parenthood).

If you want to call someone a kid on the playground, Obama is the teacher and the Republicans are the little bullies he's trying to control and get them to behave like adults.

But obviously, there's no succeeding at that.

Why should Obama do anything of substance if he has not as of yet, other than taking credit for Osama?
The republicans were "elected" to do what they're doing now: Stop spending, control deficit, cut welfare state down.

The health organization is the #1 abortion source in USA.

And yeah they're ALL acting like a bunch of bitches.

Are you kidding me? You do realize Nixon started federal funding for Planned Parenthood and none of that funding went to Abortions, but to provide health care to Americans. The Republicans were "elected" to control spending and create jobs, you're right...but they aren't doing that at all. Cut funding to Planned Parenthood? NPR? Seriously? What are these Republican douchebags doing besides wasting time and trying to involve their ideologies with the economy.

We all know what needs budget cuts:

The Military.

Stop dropping bombs on Libya (Obama's problem, I know and he might have lost my respect for this new war).
Remove ALL troops from Afghanistan and Iraq.
Stop bombing Yemen.
Close the bases we have in over 130 nations.

These solutions could save billions and billions and billions of dollars but nope, we have to strip fellow Americans of their health care rights instead.

So much for land of the free, ay?

Some one needs to Jack Slap "The Judicial Branch" as they have turned a blind eye to the emphases "Executive Presidential Order".

It seems to me "Borrowed from Donny I may be out of my element" but if they would have created jobs by laying down policy for large projects and manufacturing there debt would be much lower then what it is now.

I wonder what the ration of tax paying employee is to those taking U.I checks paying no taxes to keep every Pennie for day to day survival.

The Bottom Line is they need more cash flow and the cut spending bit will not be enough.

If one can not swim it does not matter if they are in ten feet of water or ten thousand they will still drown, unless God's Saving Grace saves them.

Oh snap. You know I started using the "after x years if he doesn't know he should get out" a bit of a while ago because I didn't see anyone else using it. It's always a pleasure to hear such words come back some time later.

Because you're right, you know.

I'm only saying what I'm saying because in all honesty he's doing what he was expected to. Make it through without the country collapsing. That's been the policy going back 5 or so presidents now, and yea, it don't work.

And Misoir, I agree with your post on the first page.

Republicans had 4 trillion in cuts and wouldn't take it because Obama wanted to end tax loopholes.

It's their fault...they did it. I was just on here last week blasting Obama for proposing cuts on SS and Medicare...geezus he damn near gave them everything they wanted...but yet they still wouldn't budge.

Im no obama fan but honestly the GOP have gotten under my skin with this. Im glad he walked out and said what he did it showsthat at least he is passionate about it.or its just a show.
Why does the right/left political system turn people in to such idiots at times?

No, all it shows is that with Obama it's "My way or the highway". He must think that it shows leadership if he demands HIS way and walks out of talks. Maybe that works with his family when they want to know about Larry Sinclair.

I see, well its a matter of ideology then, do you want to be more left (tax the rich, help the poor), or right (attract the rich to do business, so they can give jobs to the poor).
Both ways have risks and advantages, but how about reducing the number of simultaneous wars ongoing at any given time (overseas military spending, meddling in other countries' affairs perhaps) ?
Maybe that is the reason for the high debt ceiling in the first place (Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya).

Honestly, I don't see any viable mainstream candidate for 2012.

My siggy banner says Ron Paul! He has his own set of issues, but I believe he would be the correct prescription for the current crises. After Paul, there just isn't another viable candidate. I would probably support Marco Rubio.

Anybody think a complete unknown like me could get enough attention to make it worthwhile? I know it is a pipe dream, and a complete privacy destroyer, and my wife would kill me, and I would have no chance of winning, but I am still almost willing to make a couple of ripples in the water if it will at least get a discussion in the press about some real solutions, and some honest accounting of the real problems. What do you think? Would it be an enormous sacrifice with no reward, or would it be a worthwhile endeavor?

The thing that really gets to me is the people who think that not raising the debt ceiling is a option.

When will people learn this whole right/left party drama is meant to keep people focused on one subject while forgetting whats really going on. This is your political system,100s of years old. You should be discussing how to get out of this crisis instead the system has been reduced to some mudslinging and left/right rhetoric. Its pathetic and quite embarrassing to the nation.

Actually, I've been a lifelong Republican and I didn't like what either of the Bush's did, and I would like for Pubs to get back to the real classic conservative way, and stop this phony Wolfowitz/Perle NEOCON warmongering and leading us around by the nose to stoke hatred between Israel and Islam putting us at risk. It's all been part of the agenda to begin with, with the Rothschild Satanists making billions and billions.

The flip side of this coin is the Socialist Utopia you lefty types love so much. Thanks but no thanks.

With all due respect to people's beliefs, I believe many of you are getting lost in the smoke and mirrors of oligarchy. Republican and Democrats are two heads on the same bird, all this controversy in the district of corruption is just meant to beguile us as the world is incrementally going into a tyrannical fascist lock down.

You make a very good point. The truth is that the banksters and the wealthy industrialists have been bankrolling the Int Capitalist/Communist agenda for a hundred years. If you haven't read Prof Antony Sutton's books, I heartily recommend them, as they will reinforce your position on the Hegelian dialectic.

Well that honestly is dependent on you. Politics is a life long game. I mean it. If you want to be a politician in this time period, you have to be totally open with who you are and what you are. Personally, I'll admit to favoring a bill that more or less makes privacy for politicians illegal outside their bedroom. But that's just me.

There are a few ways you could make a ripple that can become a wave. I'll tell you one from my own life. Back when I was an atheist I tried an experiment with some friends. A question was posed, purely hypothetical and purely for the hell of it. A social experiment, if you will. We picked a topic split by morals and religion and we wanted to see if we could cause a ripple by taking the religious side but never using religion or morals in discussions. The topic was chosen, abortion. We pretty much went to every youtube video we could find and just picked fights with people on both sides, and said we were against it, but without God. After nearly 2 months of little to no sleep and non-ending arguing over youtube, gallup released a poll. We saw what we had done. A sudden, sharp, decrease in pro choice people. Not necessarily support for abortion, but being pro life/pro choice definable changed. You can see this till this day. 50%, to 42%. Sure, only 8%. Small. A ripple by all accords. And now it's something like 4 years later, and it's back up to 49% because we didn't keep up with it. The mission ended and our conclusion reached. Our home-grown little social experiment team agreed that a collection of a few dozen people could very much so indeed cause a ripple for a brief period of time. A Small ripple that, had we been dedicated and kept up with, could have grown into a wave. A small ripple that could have opened up an opportunity.

Now that's just one example. A simple social experiment. But if you feel up to the challenge and dedication of a priesthood-like life dedicated, you can cause a ripple. Just recognize the fact that you will have to put together a team and literally just non-stop work for your goal. People are going to forget you very fast unless you are heard about over and over again. And in the 21st century that is possible, even without any help from the News. We see small examples of this, like that silly Alvin Greene who won the Democratic ticket by simple dedication and going house to house.

Now if you want to do this, you quite literally have to have NOTHING wrong with your past. Nothing people can dig up and shut you down from. If there is anything, you have to find someone else for such an operation and just do your part to support them.

It's hard, but it is possible. You just have to use some good old fashion human ingenuity. You've got to be clever beyond words.

Thanks for the great response!

My past isn't squeeky clean. No convictions, no drugs, and no illegitimate children, but there are failed businesses, bankruptcies, jaded lovers, a few arrests (traffic and bar fights), etc., etc. I'm sure there are skeletons in my closet that I have long since forgotten, but they would be resurrected the minute my name hit the news.

Would that really rule me out? I know it would in our modern two-party political scheme, but what if I didn't play their game?

What if I addressed each and every skeleton head on, honestly, openly, and then pointed out that it was irrelavent to the state of the country, and irrelavent to my political agenda, and that my past is similar to the past of most Americans, and I am just a regular guy that feels their pain, and has a plan to fix it.

You think that would fly or get shutdown in a flash?

I refer back to Clinton and Gennifer Flowers. He attacked that scandal head on, and he never denied it, he said it was something for him and Hillary to discuss privately, and he moved on. It didn't hurt him a bit. Contrast that with the way he handled Lewinsky.

I'm in Minnesota where we have been shut down since June 30th, with no end in sight. State parks are shuttered and locked, and all but essential public employees (public safety mostly) are laid off. Except for the gov's cook, driver and gardener or course, Dayton wouldn't survive 20 minutes without servants, it's all he's ever known.

Both sides are posturing and flexing, and still getting paid by the way, but neither will back down.

Myself, I love it and hope it goes on longer. It's the only way the people will get mad enough to actually take matters into their own hands.

Viva La Revolution.

Well yea, I never ever heard of the the Flowers one. So you got a point.

Honestly few if any politicians hit head on. It's rare, cause they're mostly cowards.

And in addition, you have to make your speeches perfect. They will cut out parts and frame you to look the wrong way. And Jon Stewart won't be there every time to make a laugh at the news' failure. You literally have to make speeches in which no single sentence can be taken out of context. Of course, there's always the risk that the news won't pay attention to you if your speeches are perfect, cause then they can't smear it. That's how you play dirty sometimes in a fair way. You bait the news. Give them some meat to smear, then use it to your own agenda and advantage. They'll discover the meat is acid, and smearing it made them lose an arm.

Politics is a dirty game, but if you play dirty fair (sounds strange lol), you can use the dirt to your advantage, and the News will be baited and angered. It will go after you, and a careful play of the game will make them just lose time after time again, until you are a name in the public eye that they cannot touch, and they won't. That's how you tame the beast of corporate news. Ron Paul does it quite well actually. You can tell by the faces of he news interviewers when they're anger. When they know they've been courted and shot in the face by their attempt to devour you. Ron Paul is a hell of a wise man. Do well enough, make a team, and who knows, maybe you, Mr Paul, a few good Tea Baggers and Blue Dogs can make themselves a new party. I'd favor calling it the raptor party. Deadly efficient, dead, but still feared. Just like what America is.

That is exactly the platform I am envisioning. I am surrounded by highly intelligent and opinionated people, and people have been urging me to run for local offices lately. I run in some extremely varied circles, and I believe I can pull in support from many directions and philosophies.

The Tea Party and Blue Dogs are much closer together on issues than they realize, and they could branch off to form a wonderful new party.

Your quote about the raptor party reminded me of the Franklin quote about the rattlesnake:

In December 1775, "An American Guesser" anonymously wrote to the Pennsylvania Journal:

"I observed on one of the drums belonging to the marines now raising, there was painted a Rattle-Snake, with this modest motto under it, 'Don't tread on me.' As I know it is the custom to have some device on the arms of every country, I supposed this may have been intended for the arms of America."
This anonymous writer, having "nothing to do with public affairs" and "in order to divert an idle hour," speculated on why a snake might be chosen as a symbol for America.

First, it occurred to him that "the Rattle-Snake is found in no other quarter of the world besides America."

The rattlesnake also has sharp eyes, and "may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance." Furthermore,

"She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage. ... she never wounds 'till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her."
Finally,

"I confess I was wholly at a loss what to make of the rattles, 'till I went back and counted them and found them just thirteen, exactly the number of the Colonies united in America; and I recollected too that this was the only part of the Snake which increased in numbers. ...

"'Tis curious and amazing to observe how distinct and independent of each other the rattles of this animal are, and yet how firmly they are united together, so as never to be separated but by breaking them to pieces. One of those rattles singly, is incapable of producing sound, but the ringing of thirteen together, is sufficient to alarm the boldest man living."

Source and good, quick read.

“I myself am almost too busy to continue listening to some of the things that are going on in that room,” said Pelosi. “So I know he must be very busy. But he has treated everyone there with great dignity. The only thing I hope he doesn’t ask us to do is go to Camp David. That goes beyond the pale. Driving down the street for these meetings is one thing --.”........
