I agree and I could do more to provide for my family.

In fact I have recently started a new "side" business to supplement my income because $50,000 is not enough.
I live in minnesota and with ridiculous state taxes, sales taxes, smoke taxes, gas taxes, and whatever else I am getting taxed on I need more if I want to do the things I want to do in life.

Do you pay your $12,000 a year or is that too much to come up with for your "fair share"?

News to me that I am part of a "gang"...must have missed cyber initiation. Ofuscate and defend Obama all you want, the topic of the original post, the sitting President of the United States playing 'ransom politics' with Social Security has never happened before. Fearmongering among the frail, old and weak is dirty. And as I posted previously, leaders of BOTH parties need to set him straight that our elderly are NOT political fodder. Apparently, no--as Obama would call them--"professional politicians" have stepped up to that task.

Now as to the entitlements you say Republicans want to eliminate--there are many. But Social Security isn't one ever mentioned--by either side. The topic IS Obama's nefarious plot to use seniors for his politcal gain.

of strawman.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Well in this context you are using Soros as a strawman.
Soros could not manipulate a market if his method of manipulation
Was neutered at the source, law, regulation... The GOP worked tirelessly to
Dismantle the framework which was in place to impede a SOROS like figure.
The GOP empowers raiders by manufacturing loopholes

George Soros

There's your culprit... or at least one of the main players that seems to have his slimy hands in de-valuing the dollar and reigning in a new banking system.

I'm sure this video has been posted somewhere on ATS before but I believe it's relevant in this thread. In this video you will hear George Soros talk about how killing the dollar will be a good thing to help ring in the new global currency and new world order. He just comes right out and says it!

The plan to kill the dollar has been in the works for decades. They made the rich richer in the 90's so they could weather this change-over to a global banking system. Then in 1999 they repealed the Glass-Steagall Act so the collapse could be excellerated and easier to accomplish.

People have seen this coming for a looong time. The rich in-the-know prepared for it. And now we are seeing the death of the dollar. The middle-class and poor will be deeply effected by this transition but the way TPTB see this is as "breaking some eggs to make an omelet". Listen closely to Soros in the above interview.

They believe a global banking system, a one global currency, a new world order will be better for us in the long run. More stable and easier to control. It's the process of getting there that's going to screw a lot of people over but they don't care, they have their illuminati eye on the prize.

I have been reading the comments.
I do not believe, in fact I know this is not a Democrat vs. Republican issue. If any of you that are trying to explain this latest stunt within that context, you are doomed to fail. It is really too easy to debunk that argument, and Boondock lightly touched on some truth regarding this big lie of left vs. right.
The federal government has been passing out this "so-called" money like it wasn't really money at all, like it grew on trees...which it does. And guess what, it isn't money at all. It just so happens that it is the currency we have to use.
What does this have to do with social security checks?
Social security checks are the most LEGITIMATE checks the government could disperse as they would be fulfilling a contract with the people. The federal government assured the taxpayer they were a trustworthy Trustee for the beneficiary...those that have paid in.
It is absurd that the contract with the people would be the first thing thrown out.
This all goes back to the fact that the currency is debt. You cannot get paid in debt, unless you are capable of paying back that debt, which means in fact that you have been loaned money all of your life.
The banks don't think your children will be able to pay back the debt that they WOULD be paying you in the form of social security checks.
Which of course ALL comes back to the fact that the U.S. Government doesn't issue its OWN currency, it borrows the leaves from the Rothschild tree.
Pretty absurd huh?

Well good, just as long
they do not take it
out of our checks...

I wouldn't care..

Something tells me that's NOT going to happen.

No the point is that the GOP wants to use the global economy as ransom to gut entitlements. Are you denying that the GOP wants to slash entitlements??? Obama does not have the power to withhold social security checks. You are being a manipulator in this case, if the government cannot pay out social security
Due to a default, how is the government going to payout??? Obama stating the obvious is not a neferious plot, it is logic, pretty factual.

Another strawman for the gang a?

I'm gonna pay for my groceries withnothing cause my account is zip, nefarious plotter I am

They have no right to hold peoples Social Security. This is not an entitlement. Working people have paid their own money each and every paycheck into this retirement fund. It is the peoples money, not the governments.

If this is true and they do stop the Social Security checks, I will say that this is the line in the sand they do not want to cross. There is a thread on ATS that asks if they are provoking or oppressing the people. This is truly a provocation....

Start watching the obituaries... and see what happens to the elderly and disabled in nursing homes. I saw this coming when they offed my grandmother on September 11th, 2008. It was a warning sign.

Incidently... the seniors haven't seen any COLA in THREE years... beginning in 2009. Yet costs continue to rise. Go figure.

well, in order for me to do that, I believe I would need a raise since I don't think I make that much!!!

I read somewhere, maybe will find time later, where your average millionaire (income given was a little over a million) was using close to a quarter million dollars worth of deductions!!!

their deductions are more than most of us make!!!

I think he is crazy like a Manchurian (candidate) fox...

I have come to believe his political actions/choices were well planned (by others) probably all the way back to his 'historic' address at the second Clinton convention.

No one who has come this far (community organizer to President/KingWannabe) this fast is this inept.

You just implied that Obama was competent enough to leverage a complex
Political situation into a powerful implement.,. Now you entertain the idea of ineptitude
To describe the same political dynamic? That seems to be evidence of grandstanding
On your behalf

It's a brazen ploy that Obama is using. Social Security, and military pay, are paid from the taxpayers, of course, but they are budgeted; they are deficit, not debt. We won't default our debts (at least immediately.) The USA takes in much more, every month, than what is necessary to pay interest on debt, and to pay for entitlements such as SS and our soldiers' salaries.

The debt limit pertains to bonds and T-bills, and that sort of thing.

I'm offering strawmen? Oookaay...I am NOT the one who granted an interview to CBSNews and TOLD Scott Pelley 'I can't guarantee the August 3 Social Security checks will go out."

Many, many entitlements SHOULD be cut...that we have generational welfare (accompanied by Section 8 housing vouchers; Access Cards; etc) is a huge part of the domestic problem that got us to this point. To quote Margaret Thatcher, LSocialism works great til you run out of other peoples' money."

We are 'out' of other people's money...yet, in the myriad of Federal hand outs, the ONLY program the President sees fit to hold ransom on is Social Security (to which most benefiiciaries paid into during their workilng years.). And still no "professional politician" from either party has called BHO out on this.

Whoever thinks that the US government would be able to fulfill all it's financial obligations if the country goes into default is at best naive at worst ignorant. Its is no different that what is happening in millions of houses in this country when the head of the family and in some instances both looses their income, you need to pick and choose which bill you will pay, which you won't, simple as that.

The bottomline is that our governments for the last 30 years, this administration included, have made bad decision after bad decision on the economic front and now we face the reality of all those mistakes. Not one man created this debt problem that we face so we shouldn't expect one man to have all the answers to resolve it. What we need is an end to the political posturing and have our so call leaders work on at least turn the ship the right way.

If any of you guys had a sack you would come out
And discuss this squarely. The GOP wants to cut slash
And gut social security. Are you saying Obama the socialist
Wants to end this social program??? If the government cannot
Pay it's liabilities it is in default, which means social security will
Default as a matter of course. Do you guys feel good lying and pretending?

Agreed, the young people are a threat, not the elderly. The only threat to their plan is the Epic Beard Man, and he's just one man... There's too many young people to revolt. The old will be the first ones out on the ice floes.

Maybe they should funnel all those mineral rights checks towards the national debt.

Go back thru the thread, in none of my posts on Obama's doubtfulness of an August 3 Social Security check printing did I call his fearmongering words "inept." The terms I used (in various posts) were dispicable, dirty, nefarious.

Nice, obfuscating, try at a "gotcha.'

You tell us... If there is a default, initiated by an inability to agree on a budget... How is government going to
Beable to issue checks without funds to cover the checks... Are you kidding me? It seems to a legitimate result to not having funds to clear checks issued.
