Obama warns - August 3rd - Possibly no social security checks will be paid.

I'm just watching my Twitter feed from Reuters and the BBC - They have just tweeted a 'flash' that Obama is warning there will be no social security checks on Aug 3rd if a resolution to the debt crisis cannot be found. Sorry no news links yet as it's breaking news. However, this may be a shot across the bows of the Republicans in advance of talks - but if not and it's serious - then it has the potential to cause not just distress but chaos in the USA.

they were saying exactly the same thing in Greece .....its pure fear mongering.......its first class psyops terror on a mass scale upon its citizen's. The citizen's should simply reply...go ahead and do it, we'll see what happens next.

So what happens next....take a look at how europe is currently freaking out about impending doom and gloom, greece more or less said, sure will do it now, but now the gun has switched hands and its aiming at those european leaders instead of a single country and now greece has their finger on the trigger.

They have no right to hold peoples Social Security. This is not an entitlement. Working people have paid their own money each and every paycheck into this retirement fund. It is the peoples money, not the governments.

If this is true and they do stop the Social Security checks, I will say that this is the line in the sand they do not want to cross. There is a thread on ATS that asks if they are provoking or oppressing the people. This is truly a provocation....

I must admit from my time spent analyzing politics this is one hell of a risky political move he is making. This could easily turn against him but it could also easily work in his favor it all depends (should this event occur) on who’s message sounds less like an ideologue and more like they are truly dedicated to this country. That is what will matter.

Either way if this event occurs I will call it right now, 2012 could easily be an election for the history books, meaning realigning in nature. Because this will make or break the parties, it is simple as that. And if it does not this country will be so divided politically and ideologically I would have to weep for its future stability.

But I want to make it clear right here and right now, I am on the Republicans side. The governments (both parties) have been spending far too much and it must be brought down, no other time has offered us such an opportunity for this to occur as is now.

For the record....a friend and neighbor of mine is a senior citizen....and she just got off of the phone with Social Security and the above statement ....(IS NOT TRUE)....social security payments will continue as as scheduled.

I hope the GOP calls his bluff.

Orly? They have some balls fear mongering us that social security may not go out on Aug. 3rd. Bail the banks out but not pay the "people" their social security? Good, I PRAY that this happens on August 3rd. Maybe this will finally be the straw that breaks the camels back.

I for sure will not stand by quietly if my mother does not receive her check. Any honorable son and daughter will do the same.
