you are correct - it doesnt' say they have to be converted - they can be conquered and pay hte tax instead - mohamed said so many times

also, how do you explain the situation that happened when they took over spain? I don't see that country seeming any less mostly christian after their long time spent as its ruler.

that would probably be because of the Reconquista - Christians were a lot less tolerant back then than they are now!

Taking lines out of context is not the right way to prove a point; it's deceiving. I'd rather you go read the whole book properly along with a proper translation that tells the whole story.

Some of these excerpts were back in the day when they were in war with enemies (obviously). You do not take enemies as friends during such time, do you? Defeats the purpose then.

The way i see it is this. If i land in Saudi Arabia, go to my hotel and then break out a bottle of wine and drink that in public . The next thing on my imginary holiday i visit a mosque and wear open sleeve blouse and flip flops in total disregard of the rules. Then i would drink some more wine on such a hot day again in public. Do you think i would get away with it? I think not! Furthermore i would never dream of disrepecting the laws and customs of another country. Like when i visited the Vatican and i covered up as that was the thing to do. So when others visit my country, my home they should do the same. If they come to stay then they should learn the languauge and intergrate. There should be no setting up of a country within a country! I respect other relgions, have read the Koran for example but there is no way that i would accept someone imposing their beleifs over mind. The world has forgotten how to RESPECT each other.

Why are people so quick to mention they're not Anti-Muslim? I'm not racist or a bigot, but I hold my opinion and belief that Islam/Muslim as a collective is not a good thing. I don't want to generalize because obviously there are good Muslim people but as a whole I see the religion doing more harm then good like any other religion or belief practice that indoctrinates from youth, a false perspective of reality. yeah, I went there.

You first sentence asks "Why are people so quick to mention they're not Anti-Muslim?" and then the very next thing you say is "I'm not a racist or a bigot." So that make "you" one of "us" too!

Exactly. Why leave the middle-east if they hate the local laws and customs of their new country? Oh, is it because the pay is better? Is it because women are given equal rights as men? Is it because they were oppressed and beaten, murdered, living in fear back home?

So why on Earth would they want to re-create that?
