Indias previous plan to send a man to the moon by 2015 is beginning to seem doubtful due to the astronomical(!) costs of such a mission. The plan to
send a man to moon was presented by the Indian Space Research Organization last year. This was criticized by some scientists stating that this costly
mission would produce little benefit to India.

"Whatever a man can do in space, it can be done with instrumentation, also," said G. Madhavan Nair, head of the Indian Space Research Organization.
"This program is going to be very, very expensive. So, a national debate is required whether we have to embark on a manned mission or not."

With Indias huge poverty issues, it brings one to wonder how this mission could seriously have been considered in the first place. It seems that the
ISRO have finally come to realize this as well.
