Bauta (sometimes referred to as baùtta) is the whole face, with a stubborn chin line, no mouth, and lots of gilding". One may find masks sold as Bautas that cover only the upper part of the face from the forehead to the nose and upper cheeks, thereby concealing identity but enabling the wearer to talk and eat or drink easily. It tends to be the main type of mask worn during the Carnival.
It was used also on many other occasions as a device for hiding the wearer's identity and social status. It would permit the wearer to act more freely in cases where he or she wanted to interact with other members of the society outside the bounds of identity and everyday convention. It was thus useful for a variety of purposes, some of them illicit or criminal, others just personal, such as romantic encounters.
In 18th century, the Bauta had become a standardized society mask and disguise regulated by the Venetian government. It was obligatory to wear it at certain political decision-making events when all citizens were required to act anonymously. Only citizens had the right to use the Bauta. Its role was similar to the anonymizing processes invented to guarantee general, direct, free, equal and secret ballots in modern democracies.
It was not allowed to wear weapons along with the mask, and police had the right to enforce this ruling.

People who are anti-anonymous are anti-human. There is a lot of censorship here, which is sad - but we do not own this forum and we are in another "house."
As for Anonymous never doing anything - Egypt would differ, Wikileaks would differ, the US Government, Turkish Government, Greek Government etc, etc, etc would all differ on that statement.
The only people who dislike Anonymous are those who adore war, corporations, money, power, elitism, sadism, masochism and enslavement. It is sad to see how many of you people actually exist in this changing world.
Anonymous ain't hacking for the LuLz anymore.

I just wanted to add a response to those discussing a "peoples revolution". Such things have occurred MANY times in the past and surely we need to learn from our mistakes?
Tearing down a government without having a strong positive idea to put in its place, is just going to lead to the same situation or worse, it is essentially pleasant sounding phraseology masking a path to anarchy.
It does need tearing down, but surely we need the vision of a better future first?
Some sort of global voting system? This would only work if every single person had access to 100% of information and actually WANTED responsibility for their own actions, I don't see this as likely to happen.
The sad reality is that it looks like mankind will end up splitting, the individual becoming further and further isolated from the media, from society, from laws.
You make very good points Stepstone! Yes, there has do be some kind of plan, or direction to head into, but this is a start. Just getting the majority of the people in this nation onboard is a start. A very large percentage of the citizens of the U.S.A. believe that 9/11 was an inside job. People are awakening to the harsh realities now becoming prevalent in this country! People are sleeping in their cars, social security will probably be gone very soon, heck, I could be one of those people sleeping in their cars! I don't believe in anarchy, there has to be structure of some type, but the people can work it out, and can come up with something that is equitable for all citizens. We need to remove all the present crew in DC, and start new, and get rid of the federal reserve!! This would be a nice start!

Not sure if this has already been posted here, but Facebook does not allow me to link this video in my status - they say it has already been marked as spam. I guess it will be a lot harder than we thought to get the massage out, huh? At least I can, however, link this thread in my status .

This just needs to be repeated. Anon will give the administration ALL the ammo it needs to enforce draconian rule on the internet.
