Looks like a regular aftershock. Hopefully this is not a warning of a larger quake. I still cant figure out why Japan does nothing to seal up that nuclear nightmare plant. Maybe they know a larger quake will sink that part of the Island anyway as Edgar Cayce predicted.

BBC news are reporting this as an after shock of the March quake, but all workers at Fukushima have been evacuated, and any tsunami is expected to be not on a level of the March one.

Reuters are reporting that a tsunami of 50cm has been issued, so maybe not as bad as it could have been thank God.

Depends on the depth. Please remember H X D =

These are some of the >5.8mag quakes in the last 7 days in the area. The green highlighted one is japan.. The nuclear plant is not going to like this very much

Also seen the 7.1 in NZ. and some of the aftershocks, lots of aftershocks.

How does that work?

H X D ?

height of the wave? X depth of the quake?

I believe the quake was at a depth of around 2.6 miles

Sorry if I'm coming of as a numpty, I'd just like to know what your calculation formula refers to.

Cheers.

Sorry to confuse you, and not trying to cause fear. A wave created by a sea floor shift is not the same as "normal" waves we play in.

H = 50cm X D = Mass

The wave could be say 500M in depth. That is a lot of Mass.

Not saying it is, just the water can come, and come, and come...

-Chung

I fear for what might happen at the plant
now that another large quake hit and it
has been evacuated.

When do they cease to be aftershocks.

It's been darn near 4 months already.

How long will it take till we know everything is ok?
hope this isn't a prelude to another big one, exactly 3 months later?

No need to apologise, but would the agencies involved not know, and take into account those facts?

Surely they would not issue a warning for a 50cm wave if there was any likelihood it was going to be substantially greater?
