Atlantis blasts off on final space mission

www.abc.net.au...

NASA will rely on Russia to fly its astronauts to the space station, at a cost of more than $US50 million a seat ($46.5 million), until commercial firms are ready to take over crew ferry flights.

it might be only for US astronauts at this stage, but how much longer before our elite jet-set around space during their vacation ? space stations, with the extra profit, will be able to cater with appropriate hotel suits, swimming pools and ……… it’s beyond my imagination and knowledge what the super rich desire.

what are your visions ?

Uh, Russia and NASA both flew some rich people to space already...the elite going to space already happens as it is.

Because they are very rich, and they can. No hidden agendas.

not sure about an elevator. but i have been fantasizing and wondering : considering space being weightless and things seem to float there, whether we could pull or push the moon closer to our earth and visit via a bridge.

the common man will have to do with economy class...not sure how many times it will be required to try and get you up there but eventually they'll figure out the amount of powder needed, below is the TOP SECRET method being used for economy class under the disguise of entertainment.

Russia is going to take the lead with their tiny craft.

Space flight is not a child's game.

People watch too many movies.

If you don't recognize it, that is the Russian Soyuz, to scale, next to the retired Shuttle. Quite accommodating don't you think?

thank you, just red up on the soyuz. how interesting! i'm amazed how little talk there is nowadays about space travel. apart from et stories of course. maybe a sign how badly desensitized we became. only the wildest theories are enough excitement.

Well that's not very feasible and that could have some very negative impacts if we moved the moon closer to earth..

I was hoping we were going to have Johnnie Cabs before space taxis...Space taxis probably won't be around for another 5 decades.

Good maybe it'll lead to some of the elites deaths.

And on another note look at The Fifth Element how cool would a trip in a space ship like that be?

The commercialization of space has just begun, at the end of a so-called era.
Private industry will take over, working to make affordable craft on a easily obtainable budget.
