Suspect shoots self after 7 killed in Michigan

www.msnbc.msn.com

The suspect wanted in the deaths of seven people, including two children, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head after an hours-long standoff, Michigan police said Thursday night.

Dozens of police officers with guns drawn descended on a Grand Rapids neighborhood and cornered the suspect in a home.

If he did not shoot himself, someone else would have, Cowards way out in my opinion. 7 lives pointlessly taken, and now he has no man to answer to.

It always saddens me that some people feel so helpless that they have to resort to such a horrible act!

Poor children......

My thoughts are with the families of the kids.

Not only 7 murders, but another 5 wounded and a total of 4 hostages throughout the affair.
Thankfully that is all....but still 8, 13and 17 too many. (yes Im including the offender).

This never needed to happen. Any of it.

A rampage shooting?
What set him off?
I'm not buying the idea that it was just his divorce.

This whole thing is a shame.

Seeing the picture of the young father crying after learning of his little girls death will haunt me for a long time.

I havent watched the news regarding it at all, and I really dont care to see such a sad picture....although Im sure I will.
This happened in my city, in a neighborhood many of my friends live...so I was paying close attention.
I was listening to it on my phone police scanner while chatting of FB with others that were doing the same thing.

This community was going nuts. It was something that weve never experienced before....well most of us (I lived in CA for a couple of years...so I got a taste of big city life and events).

Such a sad day for everyone. I did learn how much compassion my tree of friends and acquaintances have though...and this makes me happy.

I dont think those questions have been answered yet.
I have police friends as do my friends.
Ill update as soon we are told anything from them.

Im pretty sure the guy had some mental issues.
Also note...it was observed that he was snorting something during the hostage event. So drugs are presumable involved. And I now first hand from my younger days, how they can be a big influence on ones actions. Just a note.

in a way, i like when they kill themselves

and then again, i hate it, no justice for the victims or getting into this animals head. yes, i want to see him suffer.

hoping he gets shived in jail before the trial.

why not leave a nasty note, THEN blow your head off before hurting anyone else.

my condolences to families of the victims, if there are any left.

Actually, I have.
And his mental state is what I'm alluding to.
There must have been more going on than just regular old divorce angst.

I don't understand why when people snap, they always kill innocent people just going about their business.

If you're gonna snap, might as well go on a Boondock Saints type spree.

Because when you "snap" you lose the ability to think rationally... That is why they call it "snap", something breaks inside your mind, sometimes temporarily, sometimes not.

Sad story, sucks ass for the people dead.

There should be an educational commercial or an infomercial on how to leave this world peacefully for those that do not want to be here anymore. Why take the lives of people that wanna be here?

This is something I've never understood. Why would this person deserve to be killed in prison? Furthermore, who would be the one doing the killing? I doubt it's someone in jail for theft or tax evasion. Most likely another murderer who has nothing to lose. So why do it? Is is their karmic duty to repay to this person in order to restore balance to universe?

You read it all the time: I hope they go to jail and someone knocks them off in there.

I just don't get it. Since when did the moral compass spin in the right direction once you are behind bars and now someone on the inside has the supreme authority to bring justice to an individual when justice is what put them behind bars.

Most people are hypocrites. "Killing is wrong! Unless it's someone I hate, then it's cool."
