Yup - that happened. Read my post on page 2 - the cop got 18 months in jail for this.

How do you know he was drunk and since when is that a crime?

Of course, I have no way of knowing if he was drunk and being drunk under most circumstances is certainly no crime.

I suppose I just have a cruel and jaded streak. There really is no excuse for it no matter how funny it is.

I'm sorry. I can't quit laughing about it. You just see it coming as soon as he 'taps' the window with his foot.

You talking about the officer who got in trouble with the law for this? No, you aren't are you.

You are talking about the guy that got hit while handcuffed in the back of a cop car. That man, at the time of this incident was NOT a criminal. He was a suspect who is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

You calling him a criminal is a slap in the face of the United States and everything it stands for.

Normally I never side with the cops, and this case will be no different, but there is a twist!!

First off, the cop broke the law when he punched the man while he was handcuffed. There are no if's and's or but's about that. Anyone who says otherwise is completely misinformed or a liar. The Officer not only punches the man, but then reaches out and grabs the mans face so I he can position the mans head in a way that allows the Officer to get a couple cleaner shots on his face. There is absolutely nothing anyone can say that justifies this. It is illegal, end of story.

Now the suspect is an ass. To say he was being "polite" is a gross misrepresentation of the facts. He is not polite, appears to have been drinking, and is running his mouth. However, none of that is illegal. The guy has every right to be as big a douche as he wants to be as long as he is not hurting anyone.

Now it is a common practice to not let a suspect out of a police car and remove his handcuffs so he can pee. Police will wait until you are transported and begin the booking process before you will get to use a bathroom. This Officer would have been a complete incompetent moron if he let this guy out to pee. When you have someone under arrest you do not release them for any non life threatening reason until it is safe to do so. We speculate and toss out other scenarios all the time around here... so let's try this one...

Cop lets suspect out to pee. Cop removes his handcuffs. Suspect suddenly attempts to run away now that he has a chance. Suspect runs into street causing a car to swerve into oncoming traffic causing an accident that results in the death of one of the driver's. Can you imagine the public outrage?

So the Officer was right to not let the guy pee. Sorry he will have to wait. The cop was also dead wrong for punching the suspect like that. There is no excuse for it.

Honestly, I would have sacrificed a pair of britches and soaked as much of that cop's car as possible. Knock with feet and ask once. If the cop is being a jerk-off then wet up the whole back seat. Chances are the cop is the one who has to clean it. I find it hilarious how short-tempered cops are. My belief is that 90% (notice not 100%) are unskilled and undereducated human beings who possess no talents or specialties that make them of value outside of menial and dead-end jobs like the police force.

Before anyone comes in with the "the job is incredibly stressful" whiny cry baby crap just stop please. I've spent the better part of a decade in active combat and I treat POW's and detained "terrorists" with more respect and compassion. Clarification, I did before I discharged.

Cops want more respect, SHOW a little more respect first. Your job is not THAT dangerous or THAT hard to begin with.

Although 18 months is excessive for a few fists, the combination of crimes really does make the 18 months seem reasonable.

He not only punched the guy, he didn't allow him to urinate/defecate, a human rights violation of a very serious degree.

It's an abuse of authority and it causes the citizens to lose faith in their governance.

Very serious combination of crimes. Perhaps 18 months is a bit light even?

Ok so now we're trying to play with words... ok, its first grade allover again.

Really... thats the best answer you can come up with?

You know perfectly what I meant... and no matter how your criminal-defeding mind wants to put it, come on, you dont want to be rude and swear at cops under arrest - thats just stupid.

And the fact that the cop was even accused of something, then it just proves we live in the age where criminal's get away with anything while people that try to protect society from scum like that, gets trashed.

The world is upside down and I'm sorry that the cop was accused of anything... oh poor criminals. Some day, crime will pay... if it doesnt already taking into account that everyone defends criminals now.

You're prolly one of those guys that think that al capone was providing a rightful service during the prohibition... and maybe you're favorite persona was the cool bad ass style of john dillinger... or the two psychos called bonnie and clyde that are almost national heroes which life was romanticized so much that you actually feel sorry for them in the final shooting by those evil cops...

Ah, just read the post on page two about his arrest and imprisonment.

It figures he would be a combat veteran. Ex-military should NOT be allowed to serve as law enforcement. These men are trained to treat suspects in Afghanistan and Iraq as combatants, and when they come back to America and become a police officer, they treat their suspects as combatants.

Guy taps on a window because he has to urinate, scumbag cop all hyped up on HGH, Testosterone, and Steroids comes over and punches a restrained man in the face 7 times. What a badass cop. A true hero.

As stated above, no, not letting him urinate is not illegal. You're not supposed to just let him go because he has to pee. No way, they have to wait until the are at booking. It's not the cops fault he had to pee when he decided to do something wrong, and should've quit hitting the window.

As for the cop punching him, awful, just horrible. Glad he got his 18 months, though it is a bit excessive

I couldn't agree more. If you take the job you should be willing to endure stiffer penalties for betraying the public trust. To be honest, it seems the "blue curtain" has actually been reduced in the last decade.

Used to be that cops could shoot up and beat people without consequence. Sad part is is that that is not an exaggeration.

Give officers, deputies and troopers stiffer penalties for breaking conduct. Give those who support their "blue brothers" by lying and falsifying statements twice the penalty as the officer they covered for.

It's a sad state of affairs, but it is seemingly necessary.

What do you not understand about the system? Not tyrannical enough for you?

Police do not determine if someone is guilty. They enforce charges and arrest those charged. They are not the Judge, nor are they the Jury, and certainly they are not the Executioners.

They are merely there to safely escort citizens downtown to face their charges.

The police officer has no right to take it upon themselves to punish someone charged with a crime, they may be innocent.

This is the foundation of a just system and you vigilantes are ruining everything. You ruined the reputations of the Police forces, you ruined the reputation of the Government, you ruined the reputation of this Nation and it's peoples.

Stop assaulting people because you think they are bad. We are suppose to follow PEACE and uphold the LAW. Everyone has civil rights, and you either respect them or you will wind up in jail mark my words. This system works for me too despite the fact I have the short end of the stick.

See my post above.

I think you have a misconception as to how professional Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines conduct themselves in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not saying the record has been squeaky clean, but I would say your average POW from those fields of battle are treated with more respect than your average U.S. American offender. At least while they were in our hands. I can't speak for what happened/happens to them once they are processed and released/incarcerated.

This was covered on ATS a while back, and I took interest in the topic because that exact cop (Krause) had arrested me a few weeks prior to that video.

My lawyer had Officer Krause on the stand, pointing out the difference between video from his cruiser, his reports, and his testimony.
The judge decided that, due to Officer Krause's years of service, and exemplary record, he must be telling the truth.

I agree, we need to make sure the law is binding on our government officials.

They are citizens just like the rest of us. We all have rights.

But those in authority are trusted to do the right thing and improve our society. They have too much responsibility and power to not be punished for abusing it.

I agree 100% with your suggestions. I consider rogue government officials as akin to treason against the principals and foundations of our nation.

Let's try to educate them why they are wrong.
They are misled by emotions like hatred and anger.

Do not fall prey to the same trap they have succumbed to.

We can turn this thing around. You and I.

The future is ours, let's make a good one.
