I thought they took away the warning? That would be really inhumane if they took the warning away and in the end a tsunami does end up showing up.

let us all hope this has a good outcome. The ring of fire is active now, its just a matter of time when it all comes down to volcano eruptions etc..

In 1960 New Zealand had its 2 deepest earthquakes ever recorded
Chile had a massive 9.5 massive earthquake in 1960 that sent a tsunami that did damage in New Zealand, Hawaii, West Coast of USA, and the tsunami ravaged the coast of Honshu of Japan with many deaths and over 1600 homes and business destroyed by the tsunami. Then Puyehue's eruption also in 1960, which followed the Chile earthquake, and Morocco had its most deadly and destructive earthquake in its history, the 1960 Agadir earthquake. They even have a memorial built for it. If you believe in antipodal points and Newtons equal and opposite reaction of laws of motion, meaning the antipodal point is the same exact spot on the other side of the Earth and you believe that it can be affected by a major event on the same exact point opposite the other side of the the Earth. (Google has a map) or you can go to link

If you go to the coordinates of the 7.8, near Raoul Island, I believe, and anitpode it to the exact opposite side, it comes out to, right around on the border of Morocco and Algeria area. So should Morocco be on the lookout

There was a 5.7 quake off the coast of Japan but I doubt anyone felt it.

Look at this chart. We're starting to have days with 0 earthquakes.

www.japanquakemap.com...

I'm still a bit worried.

You think this is scary just wait this is only the beginning. What comes to my mind for safety is the old saying of:

Being at the right place at the right time

AN UPDATE.... Here in New Zealand there was a National 'Civil Defense' warning of a possible 8 metre swell coming and the quake was registered at 7.8. They advised to stay away from the beaches, harbours etc all over the country. It was two hours before anything reached here. When it did, it rolled in at between 1-2 cm (not seen with the naked eye). The alert was then downgraded to 'Marine Hazard Only ???? after it arrived and was changed to a 7.6. Nice to be warned and aware, but a lot of misinformation going around. In fact the media here have advised, the Honolulu Tsunami Alert Centre is looking to change its 'warnings' to save possible confusion..

There sure is lots of misinformation, such as that post.

There was never a warning for an 8 metre tsunami, certainly not from CD, and the swell was observable, but not 'impressive'. They never put out a warning, only an advisory, but I guess there's a disconnect between their meaning and the public's comprehension.
