First of all, I’m not a Police Officer/Peace Officer/LEO…whatever, I don’t have the temperament for what they deal with on a day to day basis. But I am starting to think that since it is politically correct to bash Cops on ATS, rather than race, this is the new hate fad.

Let’s face it; there are good cops and bad cops. I would say that there are many more good cops out there than bad cops. Good cops don’t seek publicity and since that is the case, they don’t receive such.

Bad cops however, when caught on camera, are all over YouTube, and all of a sudden….all cops are bad.

I blame the Police Unions and spokespeople for this hate. They always come to the defense of the officer, without knowing the facts.

Good cops turn in bad cops all the time…that’s why they have Internal Affairs.

I have never had a bad experience with the Police, because I never took it personal. Every Cop I have had the pleasure/displeasure of doing business with has always been professional.

I ask ATS members, are you swayed by YouTube propaganda or are you forming your opinion based upon personal experience?

Are you letting others influence your thoughts?

Theres nobody else to blame but human nature ....

You see..

If you do 100 good things people will never remember

If you do one bad thing people will never forget ....

Its the bad parts of police brutality that make headlines here . Thats why we notice them.

Nobody posts up the good thats why it seems like its just cop bashing....

when really its just chosing the negative parts of it to post..

because nobody really cares to read the postivie . But the negative is what we thirst kinda like when we drive by a car accident ... were so curious arent we hehe

Yes of course there is more good cops then bad. A fwe people just narrow minded here and can't see the bigger picture because of the hate they have for the boys in blue....

I agree, not all cops are bad and some get a little carried away.
Here's a video of cops doing what they do.
I think some have a good heart and some don't. All depends on what tree you picked the apple from.

It isnt the police fault. They have a dangerous job and they need to enforce the laws. The real issue that people should be upset with is the gradual reduction of our freedoms.

Of course people are angry at the loss of freedoms and rights. So when police choose to enforce these unjust new laws, they are putting themselves on the 'other' side.

If they see the wrong in it, why are they choosing to go along with it?

I understand the need for a job, as we all do. But sometimes a moral decision has to outweigh this.

Good question,I will ask the next police officer I see.I will report back with his or her response.

Do you then believe that there is no reason that the police used to be respected and honored by the law abiding citizenry only a couple generations ago? Is it only bigotry that makes us feel the way we do about cops? Or might it just be because of their actions as a whole, and the fact that they enforce laws that contradict our bill of rights?

Where I'm from, the Police are still honored and respected. They always respond and are at your door within five minutes. (Of course, in some cases, that's five minutes to late), but they do try and uphold the law.

Personal experience. But that doesn't mean I don't pay attention to the videos and stories here and elsewhere.
I don't have an inordinate dislike for the police, but admittedly, I don't trust them either.

Thank you for your honesty.

I have had the unfortunate experience of bad leadership within the Army. But I never painted the leadership with a broad brush. I hope I learned from it and became a better leader.

But knowing myself, I never would have made a good LEO. They put up with to much day to day BS for my taste.

And in some cases, for their's as well.

I know some wonderful honorable cops who do a great deal of good,
in fact most of them and the problem cops are a relatively few repeat offenders.
The problem appears to be ignoring the problem and protecting these corrupt police.
What I object to is the repeated incidence of police on citizen violence, abuse of power and excessive force.
Those types of incidences are unfortunate. What is more unfortunate is when the unlawful actions are defended and the perpetrators protected!
Some of these incidents are clearly indefensible.
We cannot be afraid to speak up and allow a bad situation get out of hand.
You cannot run away or deny or even justify an abuse problem.
You can't even turn it around and blame the victim for picking on all cops
Sure many people do hate police but I don't think they are in any way a majority.
Most people still respect them and would like to see that respect returned and justified.

That's why I say that the people hold the Police Unions accountable. Maybe they'll be a little less quick about defending bad cops and wait and see what the investigation brings out.

Many bad cops have gone to jail ar have been fired for their offenses. But initially, the Union tells the media what a great cop they were, before we or they know the full story.

It just aggrevates the problem.

The "good" cops cover for the bad cops. They know who the bad ones are. They are all in on it.

There is no such thing as a 'good' cop.

And to the pigs that do the occasional good deed? Give that pig a medal! The boar/sow did it's job! It did what it's paid to do. How wonderful is that.

Ever wonder why cops make a big show of going to each others funerals? It's because no one else gives a damn about them. If they don't show up, who will? The beaten wife and neglected kids?

Besides, after a crime all they ever do is clean up the mess. They are glorified uniformed janitors. Sometimes they get lucky and catch the scum that did it. If we each took responsibility for our own protection, cops wouldn't be needed, or at least not as many would be needed, and they could concentrate on real crimes against people that they are supposed to protect (but are under no legal obligation to do so).

Hmm, you sound like you truly do hate all Police officers and it does make me wonder why? Really? All of them are wife beaters? What about the female Officers? Another poster on a different thread that they are all rapists as well. Such a broad brush.

If I posted of what you posted, but replace the word Cops with Islamists, I would be pegged as a Racist. Not all muslims are bad, but there are a crap load out there. You’ll never hear me say that we should just do away with them. I don't agree with the extremeist agenda, but that doesn't stop me from interacting with your average muslim.

And you can’t hardly pick up a paper these days without finding a story about an investigation into some type of unprofessional behavior or corruption within a department. It is usually their fellow officers that turn them in…not your average citizen.

And I have yet to meet a cop who says he/she has been at the scene of a violent crime at the time it occurred. There is a saying that the Police are always late.

As for attending funerals. They do so because they are a fraternity. Not because no one will show up. I go to funerals for Vets from WW2, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq & Afghanistan, not because I knew them (though I did know some), but because I want to honor their memory and express my condolences to the family.

As for your assertion that we all need to be responsible, I couldn't agree more. I do not want a Cop on every corner. If we look after each other and act responsibly in our day to day lives then they will no longer be needed. But there are people out there who will always cause trouble.

But I also think that we should watch the watchers as well. It helps keep everybody honest.

Yeah right.

I used to keep track of these things. Investigations into corruption are rare, not common as you allege.
You'd be surprised at what they get away with. I'm talking probation or very light sentences for rape and incest, child molestation, child porn (very common), etc. Sex crimes are common with pigs.

PM me and I'll send you a link to my blog where I document these things. Although I haven't updated it in a while, because it would really piss me off and put me in a foul mood all day, it still gets hits.

If these stories got national publicity, the S would HTF. But many times they receive 1 or 2 sentences in a local paper. I would find them by using google news with the right search terms. The stories are hidden in plain sight.

And I have yet to meet a cop who says he/she has been at the scene of a violent crime at the time it occurred. There is a saying that the Police are always late.

They are hassling people for not wearing seat belts, or speeding, and other horrendous crimes. They aren't late. They are just out generating revenue for the state. There is no revenue generated in a murder (except for lawyers and corrections).

Fair enough.

It's not a safe world. It never was and never will be. I'll take freedom over state sponsored "security" any day.

If PM means U2U, done.

I have to chuckle though when you refer to them as pigs. That sounds so ...60's. Your not dating yourself, are ya?
