This is something that could effect all of us no matter your political Affiliation. The Final word of the Law of the Land sits in the hand of these Justices. For my money I would like to see Bush elected for this reason alone. I am Against Gun Control and Abortion and would LOVE for 2 or 3 of Liberal Judges to RETIRE after a Bush win Eventually.

The reason that I would like to this is because as I said in my above post Gun Control and Abortion are my issues I am DEAD set Against BOTH for ANY reason and I think that a Conservative majority on the court will PROTECT our GUN RIGHTS and over turn ROE VS WADE. I have a Good feeling that if Kerry were to win you may see 2 or 3 judges retire so they can be replaced by Liberal counter parts. If Bush wins I expect to see them Hang as long as there health allows. I would be interested to see what everyone else thinks.

Yuo have answered your own question. Kerry would attempt to install more liberal minded justices just as Bush has attempted to install conservative justices. Sometimes the best laid plans....

Justices have historically taken a seat on the Supreme Court very seriously. Oft times, the stance they take on the Court, bears little resemblance to the platform from which they were promoted.

I agree with you on the ability of the court to effect the nation is great. Rulings have changed the couse of the nation many time. That being said any appointee is a bit of a wildcard. Once on the bench, with a lifetime appointment, Judges thought to be conservative have been more middle of the road etc. Its can be hard to predict human nature in that respect.
